Just wanted to post a item that I read On facebook from a friend of mine. She came across and article where a lady was admitted to the mayo clinic with lung problems. It said she suffacoated from the oils in her e-cig. They said the oil coated her lungs and they couldn't remove it. That just got to wondering, I know if I vape a lot in my truck that a film builds up on the inside glass and it is hard to get clean unless I use Windex. Does anyone know of any studies about this build up of oils in the human body. I won't quit vaping but it just makes me wonder if we all are getting this coating on our lungs. Thanks.

Well, having not read the "article" you mentioned, the lady's first problem was vaping oil. We do not vape oil. We vape vegetable glycerin, and propylene glycol. The glass in your truck is solid, which is why you don't feel a breeze even when the wind is hitting it at 60 MPH. Our lungs are spongy, porous, and wet with bodily stuffs (dammit Bill, I'm a vaper, not a doctor!) they absorb what they can, and we exhale what they don't. Until any data (see: not a study from Dr. Aging-Liberal-Hippie from Devry Institute MD) becomes available, I will keep vaping as I do feel better personally.

Thanks for the replies. I have never saw that she was vaping olive oil. Thanks for the help there Dr Liskrig. What was this lady thinking. I had to cut my VG ratio down due to the heavy chest feeling I got sometimes too. But I know I feel a lot better today since I vape, A lot better then I did in the days when I was smoking. Thanks guys.

The Facebook user was very responsive when she was asked by others whether they could share her post saying that was why she had posted in the first place. The user was definitely on a mission to spread the word. Thanks to Snopes, we've found out that when doctors did further research on the condition the user had described in her post, they came to a conclusion that the deceased person was probably suffering from lipoid pneumonia that is a condition that is in no way related to the use of electronic cigarettes.

Lipoid pneumonia typically manifests itself as a cough, low-grade fever or dyspnea. This disease in most instances affects the elderly (just like in this case where the deceased was 67). Most patients have a history of functional alteration to swallowing and also suffer from instances when they have problems ingesting lipids.

The only published research on a case of lipoid pneumonia involving electronic cigarettes involved a woman who inhaled weed oil that was vaporized. There are other instances that have not been published that range from people mixing petroleum jelly with ....... to many others. Since the year 2011, there have been many advancements in nicotine vaporization technology which many people have strictly adhered to when using e-cigarettes.

Efforts to reach out to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville where the dead woman was apparently examined were futile. People and especially electronic cigarette users are eager to know if the case was by any chance related to nicotine vaporization. At the moment, because the post did not have any proof or at least some facts that can lead to a thorough investigation there is no need for anyone to fret."

Some flavorings are oil based though no reputable e liquid manufacturer does or would use them, but some DIYers,,, and some liquids we don't talk about here are oil based.

Which ones?
No e liquid is made with oil.

And don't start with the "other stuff " that's not an "oil" either. That's just what it's called by the informed.

He said Flavors(flavorings - Lorann(some)) no e-liquids.

DIY people must pay attention in choosing proper flavorings as NOT all baking Flavors are safe.
Hopefully ALL e-liquid manufacturers are compliant, they have had long enough to get informed.:glare:

I've never seen oil in any e juice.

I've never heard if a single instance where oil based flavors were used to make ejuice.

I guess if someone wanted marinade flavored juice it could pop up but seriously, I don't see it happening.

Yep, but we have had to warn a few people in the DIY section. When I first started planning to DIY - I grabbed a few Lorann flavors from the Grocery store - Strawberry and Orange<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< the Orange is an oil and Not recommended.
*both choices still in the cabinet unopened*

I Searched and, until this last year, finding an actual Orange flavor was difficult. Most other citrus readily available.

Never heard of any retail mistakes, however I have read recommendations of cutting with Alcohol..............NOT Going to Happen.(Cutting is hot eliminating:facepalm:)
