Hi folks..Have got a spanking new provari(black with blue LED) with some DCTs from provape..I was so excited about it that I thought that this would be it and I would never need another PV setup again! But,to my disappointment,DCTs are not working the way I thought them to!The first carto(1.5 ohms) burnt with the first few fires even after priming it before putting it in the tank..So,I promptly replaced it with another one and after watching the smoktech tutorials on YouTube gave it another shot..This time,it worked and I got a tank full of good vape! After refilling the tank again, vapor volume decreased and the flavor muted..After a few days(4 days) of vaping at 4v,the carto burnt and I had to replace it again!I did everything right but it just won't give out enough vapor, flavor and it flooded on my provari twice!I really don't know what to do after having spent almost 450$ on this setup and it just won't work!:(Any advice would be highly appreciated!

My advice....

1) With VV and a PV that can go 5v+ you have a world of options at your fingertips. Don't put all your eggs in once basket and think only DCT's will work for you. Try single coil stuff too.
2) most of the $450 is on the Provari (which is still good).
3) Dual-coil anything gives even pros headaches from time to time. I wish they'd outlaw em. :D ;)
4) it got dry or it wouldn't burn.

Get good with cartos and/or atomizers. Then upgrade to a tank setup. Maybe a rebuildable.

More people will chime in about that specific DCT I'm sure.

I gave up on Smoketech cartos the first day I tried Boges. The Smoketechs only lasted me one or two days, the boges last me a week and sometimes two in a tank. From what I understand LR cartos are to be used with lower voltage, so they would be ok with an eGo. With the provari you should use HR as they can handle higher voltage.

Am vaping on my provari with a pyrex tank and a boge from Valley View Vapor.

Vape on!

Like others have said the provari is a good long term investment, they beauty of it being versatile. Don't be afraid on using rebuildables as the delivery system.

Nothing looks better on a provari than a genesis type device. Just recently the Chinese have cottoned on and have started to make them for the masses.

I know its uk but there must be US vendors selling these and at the price they sell for it's worth trying them out. If you get on with it and enjoy it then there is plenty of more specialist ( read expensive) hand made gennies to chose from.

I gave up on cartomizers after I got Vivi Novas to work……it took a little fiddling (mostly learning that they perform terribly until they've been cleaned). I think they're hands-down better. I won't go back to smoktech cartos for any reason, and I'd be hesitant about boges. I might give kangers a try, but I think I'm done.

If you're not happy, try different cartos, but I honestly think that you'd be chasing a rainbow at this point. At this point, I think good clearomizers are just better. And I'd imagine rebuildable tanks are better still. I have some of the 2-chamber vivi novas (not actually out yet) coming through a co-op, and if they're not impressive, I'll start looking into the cheap genesis attys. But I think the only thing that carto tanks have going for them is that they're prettier than clearos.

check out this part of the forum : Rebuildable Atomizer Systems

all the info for rebuildables in there. off the top of my head there is the DID, the Hellfire , SS Line and the Steam machine genesis..lots more about but alot of these handmade items have long waiting lists for new or they hold their value in the classifieds.

Adarsh -

You've got a great APV there; my favorite, although I've never owned one. I will.

Yes, it deserves a great attachment. I have many DCT's, and used Boge XL-sized single-coil cartos in them, but no more. Cartos are far too problematic for me. Clogging after a day or two, off-taste, scorching if not careful, relatively hard to "tune" for different viscosities of juices; just not a great way to go IMO.

I recommend any of the following:

Vivi Nova; either the 3.5ml or 2.0ml 'Mini"; fantastic, and very "tuneable", per this thread:

The GG Odysseus or the GG Penelope - two excellent rebuildables

The Bulli A2-TM atomizer:

The Vivi Novas are the biggest no-brainer on the list, though ... and another no-brainer is a couple of JoyeTech eGo-C Twist batteries to go along with your ProVari:

Cheers, and happy vaping!

The issue seems to be more about the cartomizer than the tank.

I have over a dozen cartotanks, and although there was a learning curve, they are what I vape from 90% of the time. I have a few of the Vivi Nova clones (Smoktech Titan) and although they are super easy to fill and provide a lot of vapor, I feel they suffer in muting some juice flavors (could be the wicks used).

I also switched from the Smoktech dual coils to the single coils a few weeks ago, and they perform way better than the dual coils. I get the single or double prepunched cartos in 3.0 ohm resistance. I get adequate juice flow with the prepunched holes with no burning or flooding. To me, dual coils were a nice idea that just don't work for most people in real life.

What I would have said.

It's not the DCT, it' the carto used in it.

Thanks for the link to the double punched single coil cartos.

FWIW, DCT tanks have their place, the minis look good on an ego batt, and if you're already buying cartos or have cartos, you have a great setup here.

The other thing is that not everyone is ever going to go the sophisticated and/or expensive route. 2 months in, I realize I probably won't vape forever. I will never be buying anything expensive as a result. :) A few egos w/single coil carto+ DCT tank, and a little vmod, I"m happy as a lark. I decided I hate clearos and silica wicks, so vivi and visions went out the door.

I would absolutely try the Vivi Nova 2.5 from a good vendor. They aren't very expensive. In my trials, cartomizers/tanks with cartomizers muted the flavor somewhat, the Vivi Nova was a step up, straight dripping on an atomizer had the best taste.

Due to the inconvenience of dripping, I almost exclusively use the Vivi now. I've bought several at gotvapes, use a different one for each flavor. I even ordered a couple of the metal tanks they sell for them in case the plastic ones wear out. So far so good.
