Im really excited to be trying my own extracts and juice completely.
Im thinking; ill get vanilla pods and make a seperate extract. That one seems simple enough, split the bean and leave in pg for 8 weeks (vg in my case).
Same with some whole leaf tobacco (and strained upon strained) in a seperate jar.

Then im thinking of using ground coffee and doing the same.
I dont know about the coffee, can it be done right and be safe?

Also, id love some rum in the mix (possibly instead of coffee), but i dont think alcohol extraction can be done by me at home?

Any advice, help, tips, dos and dont's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Edit: Any advice on the extraction of other flavours would be great.

BTW, i know just buying premade stuff is easier and cheaper but i dont want to do that.
Thanks

Thanks very much. Just had a look at the first page or two, I'll read tomorrow (late here), but seems easy enough. Yay.

I'll have a look for alcohol but do you have any links off hand for using rum, or is that a no-no?

Thanks

It's a really interesting thread and there are so many useful ideas in there
for extracting flavors.
I have no idea whatsoever about rum, sorry.
Good luck!

And here:
Tobacco extraction using heated Ethanol
And here:
Best tobacco for flavor extraction

NET's and Vanilla's (especially real Vanilla) take a good amount of time (4-8 weeks) to fully develop.

Thank you Rick. Yeah I'm totally prepared for all that. I was just thinking a seperate bottle of each but then perhaps a mix all together for a unique bottle (kinda similar to ry4 but hey ho).
Just don't know what to add for a 3rd, possibly 4th addition.
Coffee maybe, our friend has linked a helpful thread.
And perhaps a rum flavour which I don't think I can do.

Any ideas on that?

I add Vanilla and Caramel flavoring to one of my NET's so I guess you could call that a RY4. I add just Vanilla to a different one and just Caramel to another one. The possibilities abound. The trick/challenge/fun/frustration/satisfaction/etc. is to find what works with what, because not everything does. That's why you experiment with small batches. ;)

I have done coffee, vanilla, and tobacco. The coffe was not very good. The vanilla fell flat due to my error. You have to use a high quality vanilla bean. Like ordering a Madagascar or Tahitian vanilla bean. The Mexican vanilla bean from the supermarket did not turn out very well. Both the coffee and vanilla were extremely earthy tasting. I believe because my filtration methods were inferior.

The cigars I extracted turned out pretty good. But as would be expected was a coil wrecker. Filtration filtration filtration.

You could always add a dark rum to some pg and slowly cook off the alcohol and see what happens. Bound to be some sugars left behind that may be problematic. But that is what I would try if I were so inclined.

Thank you both. Perhaps the rum will be too much. Thanks for the help though.

I watched a guy go through the cafetière filter initially. A secondary filter, then two more filters with decreasing microns. Like you said f,f,f.
A bit like location, location, location.
You probably don't get that t.v program there. It's rubbish but you get the point.

Thanks

I've thought about straining natural juices and making NET tobacco essences, but it's way too easy to buy them already bottled and ready to go. I do like to hear about others' successes and failures, though!

Who knows? Maybe one of you guys will develop the latest and greatest flavor and build a reputation for superior concentrates.

We might have to get used to growing and straining our own tobacco juice...
