Hello again folks! I've been away far too long with the analogs, so it's now time to get back on the horse. As you may recall, I had a bad experience with my favourite juice and was ill for a while (purely coincidental and NOT related to the juice), and subsequently lost the taste for what was my juice of choice.

It's great to see so many people still vaping and have succeeded where I failed, and thats good enough inspiration for me to give it another shot.

So, todays shopping list from the ever excellent Jason at VE - we have Cherry Cigar, some RY-4 and Refreshers! I see they seem to be out of Grizwalds at the moment, so it's perhaps a good thing I'm trying something different.

Oh it's pretty straightforward really. I've been smoking Marlboro reds since I was 16, and had previously tried everything to quit, including patches, gum, sprays, and even Champix. However, nothing really worked until I started looking into ecigs. Having tried the E-Lites I found in Morrisons, I came here to find out more. With the help of this fantastic community, I furnished myself with a nice stainless steel Riva 1000 deluxe kit, and ordered a bunch of Grizwald samples from VE.

I was a bout 2 months in, and having reduced from about 20 per day to about 3, I was really happy with my progress....and I have to say, it was the easiest I've ever had giving up. But then I fell ill with a really bad stomach. This coincided with me ordering the first 30ml batch of what was my favourite (toffee popcorn) juice. Not sure what was really going on in my body, but it sure affected my taste because my beloved juice now tasted very synthetic and plastic. After a quick email to Jason at VE, he assured me it needed time to steep as the larger bottles are mixed fresh, whereas the samples could be weeks old. So I persevered, and even a month later the taste was still just horrible to me. Having polished off the remains of whatever sample bottles I had that I could tolerate, the toffee popcorn was only succeeding in making me feel more ill again. Even now, the juice has turned from a translucent amber into almost pitch black, I still cannot stand the taste.

So it was back to the analogs, and much like being reunited with an old friend, it's been tough to say goodbye, but I feel I'm now ready. I feel healthy (well...as much as you can with smokers lungs), and positive, and I have a goal in mind which should give me the motivation I need. So tonight will be spent rinsing and drying out all my carts and tanks, ready for a lovely delivery tomorrow, and I can get back on the wagon once more.

I always found this forum a great source of inspiration and positivity, so no doubt I'll be around a lot more again to soak in the good vibes!

Welcome back DM.

I smoked for 40 years and used to really like it but since starting vaping last year I now cannot stand the taste of cigarettes.

When I started vaping I found the taste strange, especially the tobacco flavours, a little tip I picked up on this forum was that adding just a small amount of menthol can tone down the taste, it does not work for everyone but it done the trick for me.

Another tip, is don't try to stretch the life out too far on cartomisers, mine last about 7 to 10 days, as soon as that burning plastic taste appears they go in the bin.

Keep trying, it is well worth it in the end for your health and wealth.

Yea I bought a pair of mini novas for that very reason. I only really use the carts for trying out new flavours. It's worth noting that no matter what I put the juice into, it still had the plastic taste to me. So it was either a bad batch, or my taste buds just rejecting the flavour. I'll see what happens tomorrow as I'm trying some more new flavours...fingers crossed!

And thanks for the welcome back :D

A very nice story, but sorry u had to deal with an illness I know how that feels.

Glad your back and really hope u have a good experience with your delivery. Please try several types of flavors from diff places, I've found that each vendor has a unique type of back flavor in their liquids, but could be wrong lol.

From my experience I've found that all vivi nova attys take at least a tank of juice to break in.
Even if I fill a clean tank with a new atty the night before, the taste is still a bit off at first the next day.

Dry burning new attys does help to speed up the breaking in process though.

That's just what I've found from trial and error, other people might be able to cope with new nova attys straight away.

So today has gone pretty well. Quite like the taste of the Cherry Cigar, so have been using that pretty much all day, and only one analogue in nearly 10 hours is pretty good for me! Not such a fan of the RY-4, but I reckon it'll be better once it steeps for a bit. The TripHammer 'refreshers' flavour is OK, but not an all day vape.

I'll most likely have another analogue before bed, and I'll see how long I can hold off in the morning, even if I have to fill the house with vape! :)

Seems that just when you find the setup and juice that you like things change! I am into month 5 now, and I'd like to briefly summarise my experience so far, maybe you can identify with this or maybe refer to it later:

Day 1: Got an EgoC, so we're straight into a half decent ecig, trying to use cigarette-flavoured juice (I'm quitting the ciggies so makes sense). Got nice and high on the increased nicotine so didn't smoke an anolog at all. Little did I know that I'd quit the stinkies for good at this point.

First couple of weeks went by and the ecig is still a novelty, so quite happy.

End of month 1; the dreaded "I need to try everything else" bug hit me so I purchased a lot of stuff; many more juices, cartos, clearos you name it. Spent rest of month 2 experimenting.

Month 3: Provari time! Mainly due to a need for the ultimate vape and wanting MORE(!), got one of these. Then spent the rest of the time still getting annoyed at some crappy clearos.

Month 4: Decide I should use cartos now. Better flavour. Discover I can add a tank and punch the cartos. Awesome. Now annoyed at crappy 3 days lifespan of cartos. But still happy.

Today: Still annoyed at carto lifespan and contemplating if I should research for something better. Settling on juice flavours now: the soapy perfumed stuff from Mt Baker is nice, but just for a change and I cant vape this stuff all day it gives me a headache. Enjoying the odd tobacco-esque flavour every so often. Settling on slightly sweet juices now; Brasileiro from House of Liquid is my favourite at the moment. UK-based; nice.

So in that time the common theme has been frustration. This week I've been craving a stinkie because they just work and are stress free :D But I did smoke one in month 1 and didnt enjoy it; no hit, tasted ok but boy did I stink. Had a shower then back to vaping! Also annoyed at still have to do the smokers walk of shame at work- have to go outside and vape. Annoyed at stinky smokers. Annoyed at people looking at me like I am a junkie (I'm going to keep the extension for the provari mini just for home and buy some more weeny batteries for when I am out and about) - enjoying talking to smokers that are curious. Thinking I might carry some Ego kits with me as I am sure I could have sold a number of them right then and there. Thinking of setting up a stand in London and preach to the masses. You know I am so happy I vape. I don't care it can be frustrating, it's good fun having a quality vape. I love walking up flights of stairs and not dying at the top. Life is good thanks to the ecigs. Anyway....

Welcome back; I am sure you can make the transition once again and I wish you luck!

Thanks for the input folks! It feels tougher this time, because the novelty effect isn't there, and I'm still not 100% on the juice flavours yet. Promised myself yesterday I'd finish the rest of the pack of stinkies I had then no more. I ended up folding and buying another pack :(

However, it's not all bad...I've gone from 20pd to about 10. I'll see how long I can last this evening and into tomorrow. I've got a pretty stressful work weekend coming up, and because I'll be away from home for most of it, I'll take the vaper, no cigs and no cash.....just in case!

The key for me quitting analogs, was cutting down on stinkies slowly and increasing vaping.
I tried to set myself a goal of one less ciggy each day. Then on quit day, I had my last one at 5am just before work. Made sure my battery was fully charged, plenty of juice and a positive attitude did the trick.
You have to keep reminding yourself of the health and money benefits whenever you get a craving.
Plus, I find changing flavours during the day helps, variety is the key for me now.
All the best with your vaping journey, it does get easier every day
