Old Vamo V5 broke, bought new one, thread is different and tank doesn't fit

I had a Vamo V5 which broke so I bought a replacement V5 which it turns out I think to be Chinese replica because it's quite different. The new one in the picture is on the left and the old on the right. The tank on the far right used to fit the old one fine, but as you can see from the pic, the contact on the new one is deeper in the threading so unfortunately the tank screws in but doesn't make contact.

Anyone got any ideas on how to resolve this?

I've read the vamo v5 has a fixed center 510 pin, have you tried prying it up(gently) a little?

Try a very small flat screw driver and gently "lift" the center pin up. Just go around and pick a little at a time. It works on mine.

This might help. I use these on my mods to protect the threads. Screw it onto the vamo and screw on your topper. The 510 of the topper will push down on the 510 of the airflow controller until it makes contact with the vamo.

An ego to 510 adapter will fix the problem but it looks like hell. I have a V5 that the 510 threads stripped out on and this did the trick.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions. I'll first try the screwdriver method since I've got that handy, if that doesn't work then I'll try the others. Is there much of a risk of damaging the center pin by trying to pry it up?

It did me well and looked pretty good imo. Unfortunately, I had it in my back pocket when I was doing some DIY and it broke... the new one is supposed to be the same make and model (bought on ebay) but the metal is cheaper feeling, display and threading are different. Good thing is the display now shows the battery life which is a bonus which isn't on the legit V5's.

Update: Prying the center pin didn't work, but it turns out it was adjustable all along! It has a groove in it for a screwdriver, I just had to turn a few times and it comes up. Very handy indeed. I read elsewhere that you shouldn't do this, but it was spinning so easily I thought it must be different.

You shouldn't have to modify something you bought. It should come in perfect working order. Just my thoughts.
