Well when I FIRST started in 2009 I spent over $1800 in 9 months, which was a little more than I would have spent on cigs. Stuff back then was just getting started and the equipment & juice (to me sucked), so I dropped out. In August I decided to dust off all the gear I spent that money on and give it another try (really needed to), still sucked. so I came back to ECF to see what had changed, WoW all this COOL new stuff. Well I have spent over another $600 in the last month and will still spend more. But the way I figure it is it was costing me $10 a day to smoke, so in 2 months I am break even, after that I am ahead (if I DON"T SPEND MORE). But better than that, I Do Not hack a lung out in the morning, my smell and taste are great now, and I don't stink of cigs. So even IF I don't save money, I feel I am ahead. JMHO

Just looked over my spreadsheet

My start with vaping was September 7, 2012

Hardware purchases to date: $618.80
Liquid purchases to date: $1,224.30
Smoking would have been: $3,220.50

Total saved: $1,377.40

My hardware money surprised me, I thought it would have been higher. I've actually paid it forward about $300 in liquids but they are still included in the cost of vaping. I think it's time to order more liquid, haven't placed an order since August 24th.

Well it's not that bad considering it's got 3 people vaping.

Hahaha tell my hubby that.

Although he will prolly be cool about it, my moms 55 she just started smoking again last month when granny passed.
Grampa is 80 and a stroke survivor and was worried about him burning the house down...

The hard part is shes not even using it! It just sits on her desk. She says when things settle down.

But its ok.
Its there when she if she decides to use it ugh

I wished that I would have thought about setting up a spreadsheet when I started vaping... I had already been vaping for a year before I drafted the spreadsheet. I make sure to back it up on a flash drive too....it would be a PITA to reconstruct, since it is connected to spreadsheets that document all (and I mean ALL) of my monthly expenditures both vape and non- vape related.

I suppose you can hope for your hubbie to be on a long deployment. By the time he is home you will be all sorted out with your vaping supplies and be able to spread the cost out over a longer period; that will make is seem much more reasonable.

After i read this i did the math and i believe, i should be able to only have to spend like $40 over the next 9 months in juice and as lomg as my hardware is good i just have to replace clearos as i need to. But i think i got enough now to last me atleast 2 maybe 3 months before i have to spend.

So if i average $25 a month for the clearos and say $50 for the juice/vg/pg over the next 9 months it will come out to $120 or so a month... I was spending $180.
So with that mind set, texhnically im still in my $150 budget. And still have an additional $250 to spend!

Go me! Its not as bad as it seems!

Yeah, it's easy to get carried away with juices. On the other hand, having a lot of juice around can save you in the long run. When I did my tally, I came up with about $386 in equipment costs -- but that's for both me and the wife, and frankly (don't tell her!) it could have been a lot less if I hadn't been buying stuff kinda speculatively in the hope that she'd grow as interested in vaping as I am -- maybe she'll prefer a different color; maybe she'll prefer a different battery or a different kind of tank, that sort of thing.

Anyway, toss in another ~$300 in juices, and the credit card's groaning a bit, but it looks worse than it really is. Most of the equipment doesn't have to be replaced or even supplemented for at least a year, and I still haven't used most of the juice yet. Some of it I haven't even tasted. I could probably make it to 2014 fairly comfortably without spending another dime. Of course, I will spend more dimes before January, but work with me here. :)

When you figure that my smoking habit, alone, accounted for somewhere around $4,000 per year, I'm still comfortably in the black, or soon will be. The problem, if you can call it a problem, is that cigarette money was spent casually and in cash on a day-to-day basis, whereas vaping supplies are generally bought in large chunks and placed on the credit card. So there's a temptation to spend the extra cash as if it just magically appeared in my wallet, rather than socking it away to put it towards the CC bill.

So the long and the short of all that rambling is that if you helped three people to quit smoking, then you've spent less than I have, per capita. :)

Ues if it wasnt for the credit card, id still be smoking cigarettes.
First i just cutmway back, was smoking like 7 a day...
Then today i waa stocked on juice and im not even wanting a cigarette, but with just one battery here as soon as it dies ill be at 7-11 and will have to start the count again.

But ur right, its large purchases that spread out.
I did decide to try the diy route because initially i was spending $20 a bottle, still will on occasion cuz its good,
Then found high desert vapes with a coupon and paid $7 a bottle so i bought a bunch!
Then discovered that with diy it will cone closer to $3 a bottle tops... And i customize how sweet or mentholy or whatecer and rid that expense of buying flavors i dont like!

Its all about setting urself up to be successful but it still is like omgoshnive spent what? On what? Where is it lol

I got some stuff for DIY juice this time around.. I love my regular vendor but spending 60.00+ per month for juice was bothering my wallet, lol
I did buy some of my regular juice too to vape while I learn how to DIY.
When I get the DIY down then I can spend that 60.00+ on a new quilt or something, lol

Im waiting on my order from wizard labs! But then im afraid of what did i forget to buy!

Ladiekali, first thank your husband for his service & good luck to you while he's deployed. Does he know you're giving up the smoking? I think that will be priceless to him.

I've spent as least as much as you and I started last month. oops! I told my husband my set up was his present to me for my birthday & anniversary. That made him happy since he didn't have to come up with a gift for me, but he's even happier I'm not smoking.

Thats exactly what i told hubby bday in nov, anniversary in dec, xmas, bam all in one present that benefits both of us. But i still cant bring myself to tell him yet what that cost! I have no idea when he ports, he is on a sub, so no email or anything while he is under. Then he will just port, and he is one of those guys that checks the bank acct while hes calling home!

But with him not smoking theres so much of my smoking that was an issue..
I smoked in the house when he was at work, but the house still smelled like cigs most of the time, couldnt watch movies together cuz id want to stop to go have a smoke, brushing my teeth all the time just to kiss, so i was like forget kissing im brushing too much lol.
He would comment on my hair smelling like smoke.
When i was stressed i basically lived on the porch just chain smoking away, rain or shine. We rarely rode in the same vehicle.cuz yeah i have to smoke and drive. Coffee and a smoke, dinner then smoke, ohnwait let me go have a smoke first. Yeah ill be ther just let me finish this smoke first.... Hmmm maybe he wont mind afterall... Ill just maybe have to remind him from time to time

Good God!!

I'm only in for >$400 or so and I have a V2 808d kit (gifted to a pal), two 1300mah eGo's, an MVP V1 that was a raffle I won the afternoon that I had bought a MVP V2 that morning and a 450mah stealth eGo plus 2 eGo chargers and spare mini usb's for the MVP's.

8 Evods, 6 T2's and a Protank and clone protank mini and 2 boxes of coils and 4 iClear 16s.

For juice on hand I have 200mls of Dekang 555 for my ADV, 150mls of Dekang mango and a dozen or more 10-20mls of assorted ECBlends and MBV and local B&M stuff.

I discovered FastTech right after the V2 kit. Wasn't real fast but I saved a ton-o-cash.

Between my husband and I, 3 years worth of vaping, our grand total is probably about 2-2 1/2 grand. Which is insane now that I think about it! Of course, we started at the very bottom of the food chain (like Blu and Vapor Kings knockoffs) and very verrrrrry slowly made our way up. He sticks with one flavor and I have to try alllllll of the flavors. Haha. He has a V2, SID, and a k101 in his rotation right now. And i have a V2, V3, and a k101 as well. I'm also a tank junkie though. Because I have to try all of the flavors, I have about 15 tanks full that I swap through all day. We just recently broke into the world of rebuildables, so I'm sure our grand total is about to spin even more out of control. At least it's a good hobby, right?
