I was a 1-1.5 pack a day guy for 41 years. Got my 510 on 12/01/09. Have not smoked an analog since. Tried 3 analogs over this period just to compare and didn't bother to finish any of them. Three or four puffs. vaping produces more smoke and at 24mg e-juice i'm getting all that I need.

The 510 is great for discreetly vaping in bars & restaurants. But for serious vaping go with the DSE 905 which uses 900 mAh batteries and give me a good 8 hours of vaping.
The 510 uses a 180 mAh battery and only gives me 1.5-2 hours of vaping.

MadVapes.com has a starter DSE 905 for $39.99. The 14550 batts are $4.79 each (get 3). The AD-103 charger is $4.99. Get 2) 901 battery to a 510 connector at $2.49 each. Lastly get 4) 510 atomizers at $7.00 each. You will spend about $100, but you will have all that you need except e-juice. Load up about 5 carts and your DSE 905 and your good for about a pack of analogs or better. The extra power is amazing.

Everyone who had success with PVs is going to recommend the model that worked for him or her. And we're all right. For me it was an 801.

But what was right for me (3 packs of ultra light 120s), might not be right for you. So, here's a little more reading. DonDaBoomVape wrote The Wonderful World of Vaping. It's in the ECF library section. It is an excellent beginner's guide.

The key elements are the PV, how to inhale (it's not exactly like drawing on a cig) and getting a strong enough liquid. As to the liquid, I'd recommend getting 24mg to start. If it turns out to be too strong, you can cut it with some food grade (USP) PG or VG. (It will dilute the flavor a bit.) You can't make liquid that's too weak stronger. Stronger liquid is available (36+ mg), but those are meant to be cut.

44 years old & smoked non-filters for most of those years. I second the 510 suggestions. Further suggest you try Halo's Smooth8 or Freedom in 24mg strength.

With my 510 & PCC and Halo juice, I had my last analog 2 weeks after starting to vape.

Keep it up! I was confused when I started reading about these things too. It gets understandable & there are products that DO work!

thank you SO MUCH for all those replies, this is very good support, I will digest all this but I think I have a pretty good idea of what I need to start with, and when I get more "acquainted" with the ecig world it looks like I'll be able to find the best that works for me.

Yeah another Husky lover. I actually have three and what a PITA they can be. 8-o Gotta love those Huskys. I also have a grey/white but I don't have any pictures with all three of them together. You just get two seated for the picture and the third one won't cooperate or you pick up the camera and they go in three different directions.

It's not an easy transition at first. You have to find what works for you.

It took me a while to be completely satisfied, trying different units, atomizers, cartridges, flavors, cart fillers, etc, but even after 10 years of smoking, my needs are met now. I no longer want analogs.

My V3 Janty Stick w/ 302 atty and a little custom work to carts with blue foam filler gives me a great throat hit, tons of vapor, and leaves me satisfied.

I absolutly hated it. I was very upset, here I had to go tell everybody like an idiot so I was stuck. With some help from the members I learned how to use it right and within an hour it was great. Throat hit was almost too much. 2 days later I gave away my remaining cigarettes and haven't wanted one since. Hope this helps. It will work and you owe it to yourself. Best of luck.

Mattr12 - congratulations on this first step, and know that you may have a way to go, but that's ok.
I personally love the 510 and the cartomizer model with the greencig carts – settled on them after trying the 401 and 901, and a 103. I also took just over two months of both smoking and vaping before I pretty much gave up cigarettes in favor of my ecigs. A tad long some may say, but I never had a moment of longing, and after six months smoke free I have absolutely no desire left for cigarettes anymore.
My point in telling you this is that while I know you are frustrated to be having such problems right as you start this new path, you shouldn’t allow it to discourage you from the pursuit. If you need to smoke some cigarettes while waiting for a new e-cig, or even after you get a model you find working well, it’s ok. Do what works well for you, and soon enough you’ll be able to give up your cigarettes in favor of a new lifestyle. Don’t consider these setbacks as problems, but rather lessons learned, and keep reading because the information you gather here will ultimately be invaluable.
