I won't even store my food in plastic anymore. Glass and stainless steel only. I don't want to eat toxins, and I am sure done with inhaling them. I would really recommend glass. To me, it's a health issue.
Vaping stuff is not a tobacco product until 8-8-2016....
I enjoy rebuilding. Build to a resistance where my Juice tastes better, and get cobsistent Vapes from the my style of wicking.Yeah I was perfectly happy with my istick 50 watt, Uwell Crown with stock coils. Thought rebuilding was too much busy work and said never to mech mods. Then I saw the greed of government, proposed 85% wholesale tax on juice here in Washington . So I started DiY juice and RDA'S. Then the FDA BS and went all the way down the Rabbit Hole with Mech's. Kinda funny cause now I really love building and Mech's. Hardly ever touch my regulated Mod's now, only to test my fresh builds and to clean my coils.
So if it wasn't for Government I'd still be a happy Vaper buying retail gear and juice, paying sales tax on it all. They now have created an advocate on a mission. I'm sure I'm not alone

Yes. I only used tge #1 plastic bottle once. When empty tossed into the garbage.#1 plastic bottles are definitely for 1 time use only. They're not to be reused, nor used for sensitive chemicals or products, because they leach! Other products in them originally (ie. bottled water, soda products, etc), are fine from the product manufacturers for that 1-time use.
To be certain that you are choosing a bottle that does not leach, check the recycling symbol on your bottle. If it is a #2 HDPE (high density polyethylene), or a #4 LDPE (low density polyethylene), or a #5 PP (polypropylene), your bottle is fine.
I just built one of those magnetic stirrers, and here's my experience if you're interested:
Don't bother with the speed control pot - normal ones can't take the wattage and burn out quite fast.
You may have read not to remove the fan blades because it will upset the balance of the fan. Believe me, adding the magnets to the fan upsets the balance a whole lot more than removing the blades ever could - it will still be fine.
Removing the blades gave me so much room inside that I was able to use the fan frame as the case of the device - I just added a top and a bottom.
Only use a fan that will run off around 5v.
Many 12v pc fans will not turn at lower voltages, and this means that running off a lower voltage to slow it down (or using a potentiometer) won't work.
I had four old fans to choose from and only one of them would run at anything less than 12v.
The one that did work runs fine from a 5v usb wall wart.
This is the most important one: place your beaker on the stirrer with the stir bar in it, and then turn on the power.
Even at 5v, mine still runs too fast to capture the stir bar if it is already running when I place the breaker on it.
Starting it up after putting the beaker/stir bar on it gives the stir bar time to 'catch up' with the magnet.
Oh, and if you're using a hard drive magnet, use two, one stacked on top of the other.
May just put a couple vacuum tubes on the top of the case, just to get the whole mad scientist vibe going. Gotta have fun, right?
How does PG and VG store for the long term in plastic? Does it need to be kept cold?
I also make Wine. The desire for the mix plate is several fold for me.
I'm kinda ocd- a function of my autism, I think. Since I can't look at it and tell it is mixed properly, or gauge it somehow, I always have to shake it "a little more". With a stir plate, I can turn it on and go do something else.
Too, putting 100mg base into 4-6mg juice, a through mix is critical. I could easily walk out the door with 10mL of juice, but no nic, if I didn't get it mixed thoroughly. Yes, I could cut the 100mg before cutting it into the finished juice, but that doesn't negate the need for a good mix before cutting.
if I put up any more base, I think I want to stir it throughly before bottling, a stir plate will make that easy: stir one, bottle that one while the next is stirring...
We also brew beer and make wine, so I can mix our yeast pitches on it.
Oh...and it only cost $20 in parts, and will be hella fun to make. That's worth the $20, alone, to me.
Heat and light can break them down. They are both very stable. I've always left them in plastic and on a shelf with zero issues. Never for longer than a year though. I'm not sure pg can ever "spoil". Not sure about vg.
oops, I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with a stirrer. I was just trying to understand why it was needed and also letting others new to mixing that for me personally, it is unnecessary. The desire for the mix plate is several fold for me.

If bottles with PG/VG were never opened and stored in cool place (like air-conditioned room) they should be good for at least 2-3 years (manufacturers tested it), may be more. How does PG and VG store for the long term in plastic? Does it need to be kept cold?

I bet I am lazier than you are....Now, I have gotten lazy.
I vape at 5 mg. I measure 5 ml of 100 mg of nic, put it in my 125 ml bottle, pour some PG in (about 40%, but I never measure it), and finally top it with VG - up to the level of about 100 ml. Shake, heat it in hot water in a stopped sink for 10 min (to make it less viscous), shake again. Ready to go. I do not use more than 5% of flavorings, so any changes in concentrations because of flavors are negligible.I vape at 36mgl. So I mix up a batch of 50/50 40mgl base. This way I know I can add roughly 10% flavoring to it and hit my mark. So I take a 30ml ml bottle, add up to 3ml flavor, and fill up with my unflavored base, give it a shake and vape. The 10% math is always super easy regardless of what size bottle I use.
YMMV, works for me.....
