Hey YoursTruli, I definitely need more rebuildable tanks! What have you found to be your favorites? I can build single coils but with my old eyes and arthritis I need a good size build deck!
I just wanted to chime in here and say that after buying and rebuilding on MANY RDAs and RDTAs at this point, (including the mutation v2, dark horse, uwell crown, smoktech tpv4 and tpv4 mini, kayfun v3 etc, avocado, various velocity and Kennedy clones, twisted messes and TMv2, Kanger sub mini, herakles, and several others), I've found by far the easiest build with no leaking and most forgiving wicking setup to be the authentic Geek Vape Griffin. The 22mm (original) is my fave, though the 25 with top airflow is nice too, if cumbersome. The build deck is very large and easy to work with, and you can build single or dual coils. The ceramic plug thingy to build single coil that's usually labeled for the 25 (and comes with it) fits BOTH RDTAs, so get yourself a 5-pack of those replacements for about $5.

I've had terrible leaking issues with almost every RDTA I've bought, despite endless hours watching YouTube videos. No matter how identical my wicks look to the video, I seem to be plagued with leaks. The Griffin is the ONLY RDTA I've had ZERO leaking with, and I love it. I typically build fused alien coils or fused claptons, and the decks are so easy to work with I never have space issues. They provide generous extra parts as well, and the taste is awesome. I love having juice flow control, and both tanks have this (22 and 25).

My runner-up is the SmokTech TPV4-mini with its RDA deck (included in the later packagings of this RDTA and available separately).

At about $25 each, the original Griffin is a great deal, and I highly recommend it. Fasttech is a good source for all.

Thanks for the info. I had $75 of flavors in my shopping cart. I just ordered it for $60. And I still got the free shipping for being over $75.
Usually, I just drive down and pick stuff up from them but free shipping talked me out of it.
Thanks again for the discount code.

Hey No Problem.

Since I moved to using Unflavored and HOF (Hint of Flavor) I buy a Fraction of the Flavoring I used to. But I still buy from Heartland Vapes because even without a Discount Code, their Prices are Hard to Beat.

Same here - use just enough flavor to taste something - not nirvana, but flavoring is the greatest cost factor and the one unknown in DIY...

What I do is when I Wick a new coil, I prime the wick with Regular Flavored e-Liquids. Then I fill the Tank with Unflavored. Or if I'm using a Squonker, I have Unflavored in the Squonk Bottle.

I'm really Amazed at How Much Flavor you get using this Method. And a 30ml Bottle of Flavored e-Liquid lasts a LONG Time.

I think that's why I like Hangsen juices so much. Prices and quality are good and the flavorings are mild. Dekang is my second favorite, but it has a little more flavor concentration and my wife detects some sort of sweetness in the vapor in some Dekang juices that's irritating to her. But then, she can detect aromas I sometimes don't even notice.

Interesting - I might just try that. I tried unFlavored, but my daughter said it smelled like old socks so I adjusted to minimal flavors...

I've got the rubber insulators for the ProTanks some time ago. A few of the silicone ones were thrown in and were a bit too large and more difficult to insert. The rubber ones are too small for the Nauti's housing and too tight for the its pin, but silicone ones fit both ways. The Nauti's pins are a bit larger than the ProTanks. Think I'll buy some silicone ones for building.

Also, Clonecores seem to have clone Nauti coils that are based on the old double coil that first came out. Some people preferred them over the vertical coil.

I rebuild the Nauti coils by drilling two opposite holes out with a 5/64 bit (the casing has the small wicking holes). I insert a wooden dowel in the casing before drilling out so's not to collapse it. I then build a coil with 30 g. Kanthal, 7 wraps, 1.5-1.6 ohms, and put it in horizontally up through the bottom and capturing the coil with a pin run through to the other side. Complete the build and wick with cellu cotton leaving about 1/4" fluffed out each side. Be sure to test fire before wicking or use your ohm meter. I am then "ready, Freddy" and good to go. Don't even bother to replace "spit back" screen. :)
I'm glad I saved your quote. It took reading it several times before it sunk in. My eyes kept glazing over when I would see "by drilling two opposite holes out with a 5/64 bit". But, once I finally got past that part, . . . .

I'm not sure about doing the drilling. But, it's certainly worth a try considering how simple it would be afterwards.

These are the screws I got for Kayfun fill screws and they work just fine.

$0.80 Replacement Screws for Atomizers (10-Pack) 10-pack - M2*4mm thread size at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

or was it these....

$2.11 Replacement Phillips Head Screws for Atomizers (50-Pack) - M2.5*5mm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

cheap enough, I have both...

I got o-rings at

2mm X 1mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring
Metric O-rings - Cross Section "CS" X Inside Diameter "ID" Nitrile, Buna-N O-Rings (NBR)
I think both of those screws are for Kayfuns, just different versions. Thanks for the links.

Are the Griffin and TPV4 Mini for lung hits or MTL? I really, really can't handle LHs.

 So sorry 'bout that, DancingHeretik, and it really is my hubs that does the drilling. Any way he thinks I can save him money.....and he can get a new shop tool......why he's "Johnny on the spot"!! We feed each other's habits.

Because it's not hard metal, probably could take and ice pick and tap with a small hammer......with the wood dowel inserted. Did that to my Kanger airflow controllers for the ProTanks and they're working fine. I'd do just one first to see if you like the air flow because they wind up being permanently stuck open! :p

I wait until I have 25 to 30 used ones. I then take all of them apart. Soak the metal pieces in denture cleaner for a couple of days or if I'm in a hurry, just over night and then add the rubber parts that have been sitting in water during that time. Give all of it a really good shake. Dump them out into a strainer and run it under super hot water to get them really clean. I use a pipe cleaner and a q-tip to finish the cleaning of the metal parts. Allow all pieces to dry and then store them until I am ready to rebuild. I can actually rebuild all of them in about an hour or so. I use the pre-coiled pre-wicked coils from fasttech so rebuilding, for me, is a breeze. It was harder to do before I made a holder that holds the coil head with the coil in the perfect spot while I insert the insulator and then the pin.

What is the holder you might ask :) well I will tell you :D It is actually the lid on the top of my ibuprofen bottle :lol::lol: I searched the house over for something that would work and right there it was right in front of me. :)

How? Pics, please.

Pic's as promised :D

If it doesn't break forum rules, can someone pm me the company name of the place that has the bogo nic? Do they only sell high concentration or do they sell 10% too?
I'm guessing that *would* be against the rules.

I'm getting all plastic (no glass) when ordering from Nude this year. Don't know if it's related, but just my experience.

I guess it depends on the product and the size. All my 120ml NN orders were shipped in amber glass. (last order was in May of this year)

Each individual bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap.

I have 2L of nic broken down and in the freezer. Will most likely buy more. I have a general understanding (glass, polycone, little headway) for storing.

I have a dozen ego style batteries and about 130 CE5's 3/4 of them are rebuildable (this is what I use all day every day :( ) 1 Kanger ProTank 2 and 50 replacement coil heads. I just picked up 3 Provari 2.5's, extender cap, batteries and the Aspire Nautilis tank w beauty ring. I feel so unprepared. Smh, my own fault I know.

Am I understanding correctly that (since I've never built anything)trying to rebuild the ProTank and or Nautilis is not something I want to take on?

Kayfun is popular and easy for a beginner? Which one should I look into as I see so many versions. I also have written down aspire triton and cerotank to look into.

At this late stage in the game I feel like I just need to pick something that works and stock up on parts whether I love it or not because having something is better than smoking.

One last question for now, are all ecf suppliers reputable? I've only used a few.

Sorry for the word vom, but I remembered to use paragraphs at least. ;)

While I can't speak for the Nautilus 'cause I never used them, I've taught people who'd never rebuilt anything before how to rebuild Pro Tank heads and the went and did so thereafter, and I learned how to do it from Youtube videos.

If you like a Pro Tank, you'll love a Kayfun. It's not the absolute easiest to rebuild for a beginner, but it's easy enough, and it's a very good MTL vape. If I hadn't switched to bottom-feeding, I'd probably still be using them. As for which one, IMO the Light Plus was the best of them, 'cause it wasn't as over-complicated as the others.

Still, priority 1 should be a lifetime supply of nic in your freezer.
