I think these kinds of mods are great, don't get me wrong. Especially as a starting point. But I'd like to see it get more sophisticated than this. Wouldn't you like to be able to vape on something equivalent to the best we have available to us now, but have control over the means of production, so it can't be taken away from you? I sure would. I don't think I'm the only one. Plus the opportunity for expression and innovation is huge. So if you want to vape on 5 watts with an altoids tin, that's awesome! But there could be other options too.

It's really hard to find complete, current projects end to end of any sophistication on this site, as it stands. Much less in an organized, concise and easy to find and use way. It's easy to not see this if you've been here a long time, because of familiarity and because it grew slowly enough you could keep up with it all. But I build web sites for a living, and I'd shoot myself in the head if something as important to me as learning to build my own vaping hardware out of necessity depended on my being able to find it here. And for newer users like me, finding anything but endless conversations and circular references to un-specified previous posts makes the experience pretty hellish. It's not easy to learn something in a complete and satisfying way here. Just saying.

And I mean that with the deepest respect and all the admiration in the world for this site and its mods, admins and users.

I've been noticing that ECF has a banner ad in rotation at the top of page for the Juul. So, i figured, well I owe it to myself to at least see what's the story with it. Found some vids, mostly a year or more older. Checked out a couple (I'm bored tonight). One basic generic, one "attempting" to show how to refill (worth the watch, really funny). But oh man, in both of them they show the obligatory satisfied vape at the end, and oh:facepalm:.
Now, I'm not a cloud chaser by any means, but after 45 years smoking I DO know how to get a good TH. In one of the vids, the guy starts doing smoke rings, and what come out is this tiny little wisp of vapor, think of what would result after blowing a match out.
Guess I won't be looking into that any further. My Theorems, Subtanks and Evics are fine enough for me, thank you!

I found this really old post with pics :) Altoid box mod - thanks j0ker for the idea!

jOker inspired many people back then it seems. He was the one that inspired my decision on my very first mod. It was a Buzz from Notcigs. He had been driving down the road at a high rate of speed on his bike when he dropped his Buzz. Turned around, went back and found it, wiped the dirt off and kept on vaping. Without missing a beat. I had been agonizing over which mod to buy (they were expensive back then) As soon as I heard that story, I pulled the trigger. I knew that was the mod for me. :thumb:

ETA- That may have been Elendil that dropped the Buzz. second guessing myself now. My memory has turned to mush.

People would make a mod out of anything those days.

This is not a crusade for me or anything. And if y'all aren't interested that's cool. I mentioned it here because so many of you are serial innovators and I thought from the survival of vaping standpoint it might appeal. Somebody is going to do it, for sure; probably on a paid site, if not here. I'd hate to see that happen. But I don't have the juice (hehe see what I did there?) in this community to start or generate interest in such an endeavor. But I certainly wouid love to support it and learn, contribute and participate. I believe it's good timing for such an idea. And the FDA can't punish us for spreading ideas, information and instructions - not yet anyway.

And all respect to to you also Morph, but I have to completely disagree with you there. I came here knowing NOTHING three years ago and solely because of ECF users and their generosity in sharing knowledge I have become totally self-sufficient. I didn't learn that anywhere else, matter of fact have only set foot in a B&M twice, and that was three years ago. I owe my quitting a 45 year habit to ECF folks.

You could just start a thread and see where it goes, or do some searching on this site and provide links to some of the things people were making way back. I even ran across the first syringe tank made, such inventiveness! We all made them :)

Me too, can you believe I have never been to a vape B&M in my life! LOL ECF was my support and inspiration when I quit way back when.

Here's another oldie about making a VV Mod- Easy OKR-T VV mod

I loved the old days of vaping everyone was so creative! And the industry evolved as more and more modders did their thing. It was an exciting time :)

It really was! We didn't think of it that way back then but, it was way funner! (vapers are allowed to make up words) ;)

I think that Evercool mod was the one that another (maybe supplier) was accused of stealing the plans, building and selling? There was a lot of that going on too. This was all before we were able to buy cheap mods from China. Our only choices as far as buying anything VV was from USA and prices were pretty steep on most.

Yes I remember the stealing ideas wars but many did go into business making mods and it was the start of a great industry we know and love today.

We already have those other options right now but reality check...
Expression and innovation are dead if the deeming stands. Nobody ever said life was fair. Our enemies are very wealthy and powerful foes who play for keeps and play the long game. They are already ten moves ahead of us in their plans. We are just mice to them...The best I hope for is to be able to keep on keepin' on like I have been for the past couple of years for as long as I can and with whatever available supplies exist in the marketplace for the unforeseeable future.

Oh totally! That's ALWAYS true (for me at least)! I get mostly misinformation from my B&Ms, sadly.

I was trying to be very clear that I'm not criticizing ECF. It's the nature of online forums everywhere. It's just that the conversational format where most of the info is disseminated is not an ideal one for learning as I'm suggesting very quickly. This is not ECF's fault. But the forum format CAN be rigged to work better for these purposes (as a previous poster mentioned - only managers posting, controlling the conversation and/or separating conversation from the original tutorial post, etc.).
