Actually a bit over 5 years. I switched Jan 1 2013. I just didn't find ECF until after a few months.

I was only mad until i found how cheap and easy DIY Wintergreen actually was. I am sure trying to replicate more complex flavors might be more of a pain, but I just use Wintergreen and a cooling agent that's it. I have been getting my nic from NicotineRiver and it is cheap enough. I can see the advantage of wholesale though.

I have not stocked up yet, but I am definitely no "grasshopper". I just realize that stocking up before the rules are even announced may be premature, especially since nic does deteriorate over time. The latest announcement is just a general direction of planning. We have years before they even announce their actual planned rules, then maybe a couple more while they take feedback from the public and get the plan approved. All that time is time your stores can be deteriorating.

If you'll notice in my post, I used the words "IMO" and "It seems to me". You, likewise, posted your opinions and beliefs above, reflecting how you see things. Neither of us is right or wrong. Everyone is entitled to choose if/when they'll stock up on nic base, which was the only thing my post referenced.

As far as nic base deteoriating over time, I followed the freezer storage methods recommended by Kurt to prevent and/or slow down oxidation, and feel very comfortable that my nic base will be fine for years to come. If it even loses a very tiny bit of potency over years of storage (which he mentioned might be a possibility), I'm fine with that. I doubt I'd be able to tell maybe 99mg/mL nic base from 100mg/mL in my eliquids I'll be making then anyway.

I also stocked up on nic base because IMO, it IS the weakest link in DIY. States are passing, and/or trying to get passed, all kinds of laws already...affecting vaping in general, the ability to get vaping items, and/or eliquids above certain mg/mL, etc. I doubt it would take some long and drawn out process for nic base to become strictly regulated...as far as who could buy it, in what mg/mL, in what quantities, etc. That doesn't even take into consideration what the price of it may be, even if it does remain available for several more years.

Not to mention you could be stocking up on things that may not even be part of the plan. Will flavors be affected? How? Will wire be affected? How? Will raw batteries be affected? How? Will existing mods/tanks be grandfathered? I absolutely will be stocking up, but not until I see the plan and know exactly what to stock up on.

What? My post mentioned only nic base, none of the above things in your post.

I quoted your post solely because of the "ant/grasshopper" bit. The actual reply was more toward the entire thread of people buying lots of mods, tanks, batteries, flavors, wire, etc. I also have acknowledged that as States do things to inhibit vaping, that may also trigger stocking up on various supplies regardless of what the FDA does. I know some people stocked up b/c their state was implementing some asinine tax and that is 100% understandable. I just don't happen to live in one of those states, thus why I am doing things the way I am. At no point did I say you or anyone else was doing something wrong. Everyone has to assess their own situation based on their location.

Hey @ScottP - this will work, IF you have the money.

When I did the bulk of my stocking up I spent 1300 dollars.. thing is, most people can't do this all at once.

And with most states passing laws there is little time. What Pennsylvania did was fast, the first I saw printed about it was in May, by November the law passed - those kinds of time frames doesn't give a vaper a lot of time to figure out what to do. And, I'm sure that's purposeful..

I understand not wanting to stock up on things you possibly won't need to, but we know, and we know right now, the things in most danger of legislation.. those things I think should be stocked up on if you can slowly and as you can afford instead of waiting until you have weeks to deal with the situation and have to go into hock over it.

So, who has nic on sale these days? Figure I have about 10-15 yrs left, (knock on wood!), and only 260 ml stashed, which I'm sure is not nearly enough.

I don't know about any specific sales right now.. but I normally get nicotine at Liquid Nicotine Wholesalers... it's good nicotine and the prices are really good.

100mg Nicotine Liquid

^^^ a liter of their 100mg is $59.99 on their freebase nicotine..

They sell salts also (which is what I buy) 100mg Nicotine Salts for $79.99 a liter.

I'm sure someone will come around with a sale though!

It's liable to be a going out of business sale.

I bought a liter every few months starting almost immediately after vaping miraculously cured me of my 2 PAD cig habit in December of 2013. So by the time the PA tax went into effect in October of 2016, I was fully stocked for life. Considering I was previously spending nearly $100 a week on my cig habit, this was not at all a strain on my finances.

Those prices are identical to nicotineriver.com, just to have another source.

Thanks for that link, @JCinFLA ! I just ordered two more liters of nicotine 100 m.g. (freebase, but I know I can convert them if necessary and that price was too good to pass up, 2 liters for under $90 including shipping). It gives me some peace of mind, because by my calculations that should last me some time. I may get a liter or two more during Easter sales, but I agree with those saying they are stocking up NOW, before things become "finished" and before states start doing what they do. I often agree that many new taxes and etc can come up very quickly, with little notice and I'd rather have nic in my freezer stashed NOW before any price gouging/panic sets in..

If it does. It may not be so dire as my imaginings but I think everyone should do what they personally feel comfortable, and I feel most comfortable with a lot of nic in my freezer, ATM.

Anyone have a 240ml bottle of nic from LNW that can measure the height for me? Living off grid, space is at a premium.

I don't know how tall it is, but...it looks like their nic base comes in those cylinder shaped white plastic bottles, if you order up to/including a liter. IMO, I wouldn't freeze it in plastic anyway, but would rebottle it in an 8oz. (240mL) amber glass bottle with polycone cap...if you wanted to freeze it all in 1 bottle. I just measured 1 I have from GBO, and with the cap screwed on it...it's 5 1/2 inches tall.

I'm not sure what the differences are, but you could probably email the company and ask. I went with cheap, mainly because I want to have enough nic in the freezer for my happiness. There are probably some taste, maybe purity differences, and I suspect some of it may depend on how sensitive to nic a person is and etc.

However, as long as its USP grade, it's probably going to be fine with me. I'll have to do some research and find out if it's best converted into nic salts before storeage, or after but fortunately, there is a long thread on the process that I can probably peruse, to figure out. Etc.

I wish I could figure out how to use the vapeopcalpse calculator so I can figure out how much I need.

What nic mg do you make your DIY to be when it's finished? About how many mL of DIY do you normally vape per day?
