So after the union staff rep called and said he didn't want to talk about misrepresentation, and said there's nothing they can do about the policy and the fact that it is harassment and discrimination, I emailed him a summary of our conversation and asked him to confirm... Well it's been 2 days now, he replied yesterday and said he's give me a call by thismorning. I replied that I'd prefer email communication, no reply back yet. I've been burned before with conversations that "never happened", so I prefer to have an email record. Seems like they don't want to go on record, heaven forbid they be accountable for their actions...

On a side note, I've been brainstorming the past couple of days some good slogans and / or art work that could be applied or printed on t-shirts, jacket patches, hats, toques etc...

Something like "I vape because everyone's health is my concern", "I'm a vaper, you're welcome", "vaping saved my life, the government wants to take it" etc...

These are just some ideas, I'd like to see what you guys can come up with! The idea is to get people's attention in a positive way that will get them talking, thinking, and asking questions. The more people that are well informed the better!

How about.....
I vape!
Build a bridge
And get over it!

I'm confused! The workers are still worried about explosions? File to require a section of your workplace that has NO LiIon batteries -- no cell phones, no laptops. And have those workers work there.

Of course, if any of them brings a cell phone or hand-held gaming device or iPad to work, they must be considered to be malingerers!

Also, the second-hand vapor does contain smells, much like food does. So of course these 3 workers should not be allowed into any cafeterias, break rooms with coffee pots or microwaves, etc.

Doesn't dry air irritate throats of sensitive individuals? Then their area should not be heated, either.

Vaping. Killing the cigarette industry one ex-smoker at a time.
I'd rather fill a cartridge with e-liquid than carry an oxygen bottle.
9 out of 10 doctors recommend vaping to smokers, and the tenth one is being paid to lie.
You will remember reading this shirt when you are dying of lung cancer.

I can't remember where I saw this thread but not long ago the French Gov't did a study on vaping. They declared the 2nd hand vapor safe around children. It sounds like you work with a few. Until our own governments step up and actually do some research and testing we are at the mercy of the ignorant. I can them "Anti_Smoking _Terroists". They will not be happy until the smokers they are after have totally submitted to their will. By quitting analogs and starting vaping you haven't totally submitted. I doubt that your battery can be banned from the workplace without openning a big can of worms that will just snowball. The worst thing that I see is that you will be told to obey the same rules as the smokers.

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't come by to give an update. Not much is really happening at the moment. Just waiting for another bomb to drop ... which I'm sure it will. I have been trying to petition management to send the results of the MOL Report out to ALL STAFF via email under the director's signature because even though we have the "not likely to cause any danger" decision, it was only placed as a photocopy on all of the Health and Safety Bulletin boards around the building. Not too many people are even aware that this decision has occurred.

Needless to say management ain't going to do that even though they really should. After all, they weren't at all averse to sending out a broadcast email to all staff about how the three vapors in the building should conduct themselves.

GoatScrote has gotten nowhere with his union .... he's been getting the runaround .... my union is AWOL .... management says the ink is dry ... and all other avenues that we have left are expensive, time consuming and above all else ... stressful.

If any of you have workplace stories I'd love to hear them, good or bad.

I see this stalemating for a few months, while you guys won a small battle (It was a great victory), the war is just starting and you 2 will be chiefs in the union part of the war. It's just such a long hard fight due to the lack of rules and they can move goalposts every time you guys get a victory.

I can't even begin to understand what you guys are going through, but I do empathize with it. Everyone is scared because these are precedent making decisions and everyone in power is scared of making the wrong one. Good luck and know we are here to support you guys.

"When [Dr. Richard Carmona, former U.S. Surgeon General] comes on board, it's very hard for anti-tobacco people who see themselves as health campaigners to simply oppose e-cigarettes. They have to deal with the fact that one of the leaders of their community not only is supporting e-cigarettes but is willing to be on the board of directors of the biggest e-cigarette company, [nJoy, Inc.]" said David Sweanor, a Canadian law professor and tobacco expert who consults with companies and others on industry issues.

If you needed more ammo...
You might want to try to get in contact with David Sweanor.
