Hey guys, it's me once again. So I have a new squonking device -VandyVape's Pulse Dual Kit- and I'm loving it. I'm currently using 2 Sony VTC5A at 100W with coils around 0.08ohms and 0.15ohms.

I'm getting off-track here, but the thing is: Do you guys recommend buying a new pair of Samsung 20S batteries for my setup? What are your opinions on these batteries?

At 100W you can get by with a pair of 15A-rated cells.
The Samsung 20S is one of Mooch's recommended high drain cells but your use case does not warrant those.
You'd be better served with a pair of high capacity Sony VTC6, Samsung 30Q, or LG HG2 cells.

Or, by all means, keep using what you already have.

Actually there are other factors involved. mAh ratings are measured at low current draw and usually down to 2.5 volts. A 3000 mAh cell may have more amp hours down to 2.5 volts at a 0.5 amp draw. But it may also reach the usual 3.2 volt cut-off quicker than a cell of higher CDR and lower mAh. Look at Mooch’s measurements, and follow the 20 amp plot to where it crosses the typical 3.2 volt cut-off. That will give you your AmpHrs

Sony VTC5A 2500 mAh = 1.700 AmpHrs
Samsung 20S 2000 mAh = 1.650 AmpHrs
Molicell P28A 2700 mAh = 1.680 AmpHrs
LG HG2 3000 mAh = 1.500 AmpHrs

Even if we used the 10 amp plot, the Molicell equals the LG despite a lower mAh

Voltage sag could also be a factor where a higher mAh cell may display more sag, thus may trigger that low battery warning earlier than a higher CDR cell. Unfortunately Mooch has not presented voltage sag measurements for all cells tested.

Sony VTC5A 2500 mAh = 1700 AmpHrs

Molicell P28A 2700 mAh = 1680 AmpHrs
LG HG2 3000 mAh 1500 = AmpHrs

Its a typo.

LOL….absolutely correct. It was early and I was still working on my morning coffee. The “=” sign in the wrong place. Should be LG HG2 3000 mAh = 1500 AmpHrs

Thanks to everyone who replied. Very useful feedback. Some points to add are:

-I want cooler batteries as after a good 50-100puffs they get quite warm (VTC 5A)
-I always carry an extra pair of fully charged batteries with me when vaping
-I used to vape at 60-80 watts until I bought the Pulse Dual and started using RDAs more, and find it that higher wattage gives me more flavor and now I vape at 100W-120W
-They have great reviews but wondered if I actually would benefit from them

EDIT:

-I also wanted longer lasting batteries that could handle the wattage and resistance I use. I've been rocking Ni80 at 0.08-0.1ohms
