Very happy Vmod user here for the past several months. So much so, I have sold all my other (high end) bottom feeders and use Vmods exclusively. I was hesitant about the mod being proprietary, so started with the atty on my other BFs. I was so impressed with the performance. I'm a flavor vaper and the hybrids were bringing dimensions to my juice I had not had with any other attys. I quickly purchased my first Vmod and have several now.

Many have modded other attys/cartos to work, and Para has found not screwing the atty down, it can feed. I am beyond happy with the hybrids and my roomie with the silos, we have no desire to look at other brands. My attys are lasting a month + and the price is reasonable for how well they perform for me.

It is mechanical like another well known BF, but the feed system on the Vmod is unique and IMO takes this mod head and shoulders above the rest. It has a learning curve for the veteran BF user. It is very easy to feed and hence overfeed. Those new to BFs seem to pick it up quickly with little issue.

The Vapage team is very proactive and their customer service is excellent. I owned more than 1K in BF mods before I stumbled upon the Vmod. It's all I own & use now. It's the little vape engine that COULD! In these tough times, who can't appreciate a reasonably priced yet awesome performing little vape machine???

Am I a fan? Heck YES! Do I care if you don't like that? NO! It has simplified yet elevated my daily vape and that is all that is important to me. As with any vape gear, YMMV.

I'm thinking of buying my first mod and have been looking at the VMOD. I've done some research here but some of the threads are hundreds of pages long. It makes it difficult to get and real opinions. It seems to me the biggest con is that it uses proprietary attys and cartos, but if the hybrid attys are as advertised, I don't see that being a huge problem. Has anyone tried it? Can share their opinions and/or experience? Thanks

Jds,

I think you will soon find that there are more rave reviews on this mod than not. It is and has been sweeping the bottom feeder community, and for good reason! I find it to be my go to almost all the time, even with my Reo Mini sitting right next to it. It is an awesome little 14500 device and to most of us VMODians, it's the Little Engine that Could (would and does!).

The biggest con, if there is one, is deciding what color body to buy. :)

Yes, the Hybrid BF attys are as advertised, and are THAT good. Do get the 1.5Ω for the VMOD, and also do try out the Universal Hybrids for your other devices.

Looking forward to having you join us! :D

Bottom line it's a cute unit, but the QA on the VMOD components is not great. Most of all I dislike the atomizers and cartos. Out of 4 attys I had 1 DOA (no connection), and 2 with sections of coil not touching the wick, glowing and causing VG in the juice to decompose from burning, generating possibly hazardous fumes (acrolein). The 2.0 attys are rather wimpy, the 1.5s are harsh, and take the battery life to a new low. The cartos taste weird, not transparent. Not for me.

I set aside the Vapage attys/cartos, drilled a hole very low in the wall of a Boge 2.0 (see recent post in main VMOD thread) and I'm liking it enough to keep one VMOD (out of two) to make a feeder for my beloved Boge 2.0 cartos. As an out of the box experience, it's not the trouble-free ready to go kit I expected. A $3 Echo-E (large capacity) cartomizer on an eGo battery in practice carries as much juice and just plain works for say a month with zero issues or fiddling. If you like to fiddle, the VMOD has great potential. And it's so cute.

My vaping has settled around ReoMini's in 306 and 510 LR for going out and about and a ProVari/BuzzPro with Vapemates for home/office.

I tried a friend's VMOD for a few days, and while I can honestly say nothing bad about it, the proprietary artsy were a turn off. My choice may have been influenced by the fact that I managed to buy genuine Joye artsy in bulk at $3/each. With a hundred or so in my drawer, it might take 14 years before I go through them at the current rate (literally). Just going to autofeeds seems to have improved the life of my artsy astronomically. On the other hand, $300 for atty's may seem like a lot, but I went through $300/month in my analog days. Holy Brown Stuff! I was burning $300/month with nothing to show for it except that pervasive stale, burnt tobacco smell

In other words, I have too much money tied up in other kit. For my vaping habits, I can only give the VMOD a draw with the REO as far as vape quality is concerned, a clear loss as far as simplicity and operating cost is concerned, even though the VMOD has only about half the initial cost of the VMOD, the proprietary $8 attys can add up quickly.

The VV with the Vapemates is a superior vape, but I would not go out in public with them.

As far as the Ego style is concerned, I have had all 11 of my ego's and Rivas fail miserably. (7 Ego's, 4 Rivas). 2 of the ego's smoked so badly that I had to toss them in a sand bucket. The cost issue even with the well known failure rates of the ego style self-contained batteries is kind of a wash since you will pay that much and a lot more for a nice mod. It still bugs me to no end to have to toss a $20 battery; it bugs me even more to feel the thing start smoking in my pocket.

I bought a VMOD at Vapefest last month and am very happy with it. The threads are compatible with most 510 attys and cartos but you need to remember to put the small gaskets (the o-ring and the tiny gasket at the base of the threads) if you use attys from other sources. These keep the juices from flooding the unit. You should then have no problem.

I don't like their attys, but I'm very happy with the VMOD equipped with a Boge 2.0 (with a 1/16" hole as low as possible on the carto wall). Once I figure out the best way to make a slit lower down instead, and thus have a supply of compatible cartos, I'll be able to swap cartos/flavors at will. The battery switch not locking can be solved with a little spacer to push the battery down a bit. So if you're handy with tools, and can get a VMOD at discount, it's a good thing to add to The Arsenal.

I still like Joye eGo batteries. Having taken them apart, I'm impressed. There are so many bad batteries out there. eGo batteries do fail rather quickly on kit below 2 ohms, they aren't designed for that. And I've discovered a clever way to drop them hard on the endcap that tends to break them ;-)
