I took everything apart because I also wanted to make sure the o-ring inside was placed properly to avoid future issues..
If you want to do the same:
- Take off the top nut, washers, and spring
- Remove the bottom nut
- Remove the plastic shoulder washer
- Carefully push down on the center post, the button assembly will start moving down
- Once flush, use a small screwdriver to push the center post the rest of the way down and the switch should come out.
- Note that the stainless button is not attached so be careful not to lose it.
- Look for the small o-ring, it likely will still be on the center post
- Give everything a good cleaning and let dry well - It evaporates fast, but best to leave for a day (I have no such patience).
- Put the "button" back in
- Slide in the switch lining it up with the button.
- Use a small screwdriver to get the o-ring into the top
- Reinstall shoulder washer and bottom nut
- Reinstall spring, washers, top nut
Hope for the best..
I'd "think" iso would be fine but PGA is what I used. You may also want to search for the ProVari cleaning and see what those folks are using, safe for that should surely be safe for the
orion I'd surely think..
Hope this helps!
Did you dunk the tube with the switch assembly in the PGA? (If I read that right) I see the spring and the PCB for the switch up there and don't know if I can do that. I can probably get some 91% isopropyl, would that work too?
