Don't give up man, keep trying and be patient. It was hard for me as well, burned 5 insulator till i really learned how to wrap a coil properly.
My experience is that don't do it so tight, just touching the wick. It may takes sometime till you get a feel of it. If the juice is poping crazy, the coil is too tight. Moreover, test you wick with multimeter, it should read 1.

If you mesh is oxidized (meter it) the usual culprit is the positive connection. The spring/washer/nut combo needs to be well snugged. Tighten till 1-2 threads above the nut show and then see how you do. Petar K/drill bit method really work well to keep the top coil from biting in when tightening.

Hope that helps. :)

how's the switch going?

Yup, that will be first of course! I'll try to salvage anything I can. Haven't had any juice on any of batteries and I can't see any juice at all in the tube or around the switch. So I'm thinking it didn't leak. But we will see tonight!

Emonty, have you had the chance to try a Juggernaut hybrid?

Breaking in is like marinating it...getting it good and ready...the more you use it, it will begin to build up even more oxidation between the coil and mesh, resulting in even less hotspots, and an all around better vape...that's why some people use the rolling paper method, it's like an instant thick buildup between coil and wick.

Orion 2.1, 69 Mod with Cobra Atty, 28ga Kanthal, 5/6 wrap.

yes i have tired that too but miracally yesterday, i happened to build a good wick and coil wrap and no hotspot so far and i'm not going to touch it till the coils gives up lol...must have been lucky

The problem i was having was, using the peter k method i could build a perfect coil and it would glow evenly... once i slot the wick in it starts to glow only at the top and tried everything from moving it and every other recommedations and think just got luckily yesterday as so far i dont have a hot spot.. Multimeter reads 1. my insulator has turned black and also my screws and nuts.

thanks , my insulator is already black and washers and nuts too.. have nuts on the way and need to get the orings and insulators from you asap

If you have an extra M2 nut, replace the 2 washers, it makes life just a bit easier

I have ordered some and they are on their way ;)

here you go, now enjoy!!

I think i was just lucky.. But from all the advice i have got so far i'm sure i could be able to do this... from a a5 mesh, i have only been able to build 1 good setup.. and only left with 4 3cm by 7 cm left lol...

Loving my orions! I had 3. Ordered 2 from the list and got one on trade. Ended up selling one to a good friend trying to quit. Imagine an orion 2.1 as a first ecig!

Currently the orion is all I vape. Since I never use them, I will be selling my Zenesis AYS, SSGTS, and Hellfire mini. Don't like seeing them just sit there. EDIT: Going to let them sit there for now just in case.

Are any of you plugging the other wick hole?

I plug the other hole with a slimmed down wick folded in half. I can then sit the orion on its side or more importantly, carry it in my pocket and not worry when I sit that the tank will empty.

Did I hear about an Orion 3? Guess I haven't been frequenting ecf enough. I must know more!

how's the switch going?

The switch button was soaked with juice! Go figure! But not from the rod shaft, that was dry as a bone. I must have gotten juice in the button at some point in time

Cleaned it out with alcohol. It's working a lot better, but every so often is acting up. I may try to flush it one more time and if it keeps acting up I'm going to replace it.

You were right emonty ;)

v2.1 comes with matte finish, some people polish them, not sure how to do it.

Do you use the oring that goes on the top cap threads? If you do not, there can be some leaking (although very minor) from where the cap meets the tank. I tried some new juice that happened to be higher PG, so I was much thinner and it leaked right at that joint and I'm sure if I didn't catch it right away, it would of gotten into the switch via the button overnight. I have since added a thin layer of teflon plumbers tape around the threads and have not had a drop leak since.

Nope, don't use it. But there has NEVER been a time where I've picked up my orion and it just had juice coming down the side of the tnak and body. I think it was when I took the tank off one time and it wasn't fully drained, Juice went everywhere but it didn't look like I got any on the switch so I didn't think anything of it.
