I think I have only that problem with coil I tried every thing but still not gloing and still have the same thing but I think it's better now.

How many wraps on your coil are you doing ASH? If it's harsh or to hot, wrap your coil with one more wrap and give that a shot. What one person does may not be what you like or find you like best, especially when your new to Genesis type rba (at least I think your new :) ) Wrap your coil a little tighter than the one in your pic but not where you pinching the wick, also once you slide the wire between the washers on the positive post, pull the wire a bit till your wick leans toward the positive post (but not touching), decreasing the length of wire betweeen your wick and the positive post will help eliminate a hot spot at that location. I don't use an insulator so once I get the coil wrapped I try to move the wick so that it is some what centered in the wick hole and not laying on one definite side, that way I feel it helps prevent the base metal from pressing through the oxidation on the wick and creating a short. Make sure you have at least two threads showing on top of the nut on the positive post. Good luck bro.

I just take the square piece of mesh that I'm about to roll into a wick, and hold it over a gas stove. I make sure the blue flame heats up both sides until it's glowing red, then I roll it. No insulator. No shorts. I make it as fat as I can and still fit into the hole.

When I roll the coil, I have a paper clip in the center of the wick for stability. This is more preference than necessity. I want the coil touching the wick all around as I wrap, but not biting into the mesh.

My twisted coil could use quite a few more twists judging by the excellent photos and videos posts on this thread. But it seems that no matter what I do, I get great results.

I then dry burn to take a look at the coils. Applying a bit of pg. If a coil burns hotter than the others, I nudge it around with a syringe tip. During this step I also try to make sure the coils are spaced fairly evenly. With some nudging and firing, the coils will eventually glow evenly.

Fill with your favorite ejuice and enjoy!

I just tried the cotton/SS mesh on the ZAG with no isolator. 3mm wick, 2/3 coil. Interesting. It works, and may help some that are having issues. Man it holds the liquid and zero shorts. Thought I tasted cotton, but then realized I had apple mixed in with Boba's in that tank  I haven't tried it with the Orion yet, so hard to compare flavor... but that will happen, of in 4 weeks or so when this wick/coil gets replaced :)

Thanks alot bro for all this Info

I also don't use an insulator in the wick hole. I found w/ the ZAP that it could melt easily, and none of my wraps were even close to it. The wick can get hot and it'll melt. I thought of doing what 'striker' does w/ the cig paper as an isolator but so far haven't needed it. I do use cig paper for the coil and never had a short from the get go.

I want to try the jack frost method next that 'liveone' uses. My process is similar to his and 'crypto's. I use a needle in the wick while I wrap, the extra stability is nice to have.

The nylon shoulder washers don't melt like the ones zen uses .
All I use is the jack frost method and it works great fo me

I was thinking nylon would be a good choice, you def know your mods, so I may look into that in the future. What is the current wick hole dimension for the v2.1? I thought 'rw' said 3mm? I don't have my mic w/ me at the moment.

I'm not sure what size the wick hole is stock I no for sure its not 3 mm because I had to bore it out to get to 3mm .
I like using the insulators because it make my set up really easy and fast one less thing to worry about . I don't have to worry if I oxidized the wick good enough

As I recall wick hole is 2mm. Peeps bored to 3mm and used 2mm nylon shoulder washers. I can vouch that the isolator material in zens does melt. I used 2mm nylon shoulder washers for the short time I had one.

If you aren't ready to commit to drilling yet, you can use plastic tube from Q-tips. It fits but wick has to be very thin. It will show if you'd benefit from isolation. I can't vouch for how safe the material is.:)

I don't understand all the tinkering...Been vaping with the best of the best flavor...coils and wicks performing top notch...I talked to Less about what many are trying and he just laughed, showed me his setups....explained me the way he does it....like it has been told by many for all different Genesis style setups..Key is the oxidation!!! Key is to wrap it perfect!!! When that has been achieved there is nothing better, it will last a long time, it is reliable and so easy to do once you know. The cigarette paper, the twisted coils, the U-setups...all are ok but really for new Genesis users......

With the insulator it takes me literally 1 min to oxidize my wick
up where the coil gos that's why I do it . I don't want to spend 2 - 5 mins playing around with a wick
