How ya doing now AZ? I adore the 18350 size for out and about, 18650 at home.

Cool Taz,Thanks fer askin and yer assistance.I had to reroll and reoxidise the wick, tightened up the nut on the tall post just a smidgen and viola, vapor!without a sudden sizzle followed by a quick *pop*.I been using mine mostly with the 18350 to take to work as my secondary flavor(I always take 2 complete APV's to work). All one flavor gets old pretty quick.DIY razberry in 1,menthol in the other.a big battery and a not so big battery.
vape it like ya mean it. :vapor:

Scalpers wouldn't do it if peeps refused to pay extortion fees :glare:

Great!

I had dumb luck with my first 2 set ups and then struggled. Panic set in as I was going away for 5 days camping and set up hadn't bedded. I tried the ear bud insulator (UKV) and not only had hot spots at top terminal, but seriously slow wicking. I muddled through by bedding ala Zens' video and cold pulls blocking inlet. Darned if it isnt wicking and vaping fab after break in for 3 tanks.

Doubt I will do this insulator again. More trouble than it's worth IMO, but while its vaping good, I'm not ripping it out! :p

Last thought. Anyone else find prying the washers open a PITA? Gonna search for a second nut and see if I like that better. Maybe these old pc towers will yield something.

My wire is under the nut instead of between the washers,They were such a pain,I quit ttrying and just wrapped tween the top washer and the nut, worked fine after just a tiny bit of tightening

What tool are you using or just fingers? My CT make fine work difficult as I don't have good feeling anymore.

just wanted to hop on this thread since this is where the action it.:D YES, I find fitting the wire between the washers a pain in the rear. I too have wrapped the wire around the top nut but lately I have just been using a pocket knife to separate the washers.

Also, I like aziffel found, have had to tighten up the top nut and apply more pressure and have noticed major diff in the way it heats. If they are loose, or not making good contact we are loosing some voltage transfer and thus not getting all battery power applied to the coil.

I too have tried the PTFE tape, etc around the wick to insulate it from the body but removed it every time as it hindered the wicking to the point I had to turn the device sideways to keep from getting dry hits.

I am in search of a PTFE tube that I can insert into the body like some of the other rebuildables have. Its very hard to tell if you are shorting to the body as there will not always be a "problem" per se', Other than it may seem like your battery is dead when you know its not. In which case you likely have a small wick to body short.

I absolutely love the Orion and despite the negatives that people post, It is in fact a direct battle between this and the "Zen". Not knocking the "Zen" but there have been many complaints about the button not firing correctly due to contact issues. We have no worries there at all:p

Welcome to the party Bmays!

I don't view the little tinkering as a negative, just making my Orion the best for me. No mod is gonna be perfect and gennies should be tuned to your preferences. Def. advanced user devices! Pailpoe suggest drilling wick holes to 3mm and using nylon shoulder washers. Tons of great modding ideas over @ UKV.

Of course I jinxed myself because after 6 days, I'm having wicking issues today. :p

Been reading on the UK Forum until I thought my eyes were gonna bleed.

I totally missed the update for the wick hole though. Thanks, Thats a great idea. Did you enlarge yours yet?

I enlarged my air intake hole and now REALLY wish I had not. I have came up with a "McMod":D to fix it though.
View attachment 95056 Moded Air Hole 1/16 Bit (appx 1.58mm)
View attachment 95057 Moded from eGo battery
View attachment 95058 Ring Installed Into Top, Fits snug-Don't move

Ring sits in the cap firmly just above the threads and can be rotated to cover just a portion of the hole or expose the entire hole depending on what you want.
Now I have adjustable air-flow:D and you would never be able to tell.

Question for Orion / Rebuildable Atty users....

I seem to get a little tooo much flavor with these rebuildables. Know what I mean? Like I get more flavor than vapor if that makes any since. its almost as if the carto filling I've been use to kinda filtered the vape as a filter does on analog.

I cannot get a coil that is lower than 2.0 Ohm for nothing. I have wrapped quite a few coils and they all ohm out to be between 2.2-2.5 Ohm every time. I was wondering if I could get a slightly hotter coil maybe it would help?

Basically, I dot want to feel like I am drinking the juice....Yuck....Just want tons of vapor and SOME flavor.

What type of wire and how many wraps are you using?

Kanthal 32g (.20) 4 to 5 wraps. One time I had 5/6 but that was cuz I was wrappin and not counting:D Even it was like 2.5 ish.

See, The problem is that if I only do like 3 then there is not enough wire contact to really "vape" the juice, It just burns it. Also, the distance from the bottom terminal and the top post makes 4/5 wraps ideal.

I tried some 30g (.25) and that was too big of wire for the whimpy little 18350's I'm running.

May try some smaller wire even yet to see what happens there. I like the smaller wire better myself.

6.5 wraps 32AWG kanthal on a wick thin enough to go through an ear bud tube=2.4 ohms. How many wraps and what wire are you using? My last one was 1.8 ohm but too hot for me.

Edit, should have read further. ;-) you could also try twisted wire as Les shows.

I been playing with a loaned while mine gets here. I am getting excellent performance from this tiny device. With an 18350 I get 4 hours then switch the battery out. I want to make a post that adjusts so you can have the least amount of distance no matter how many or few wraps you do.all in all it is beautiful and at 202.00 its like getting a standard n a mini for less than the price of a zen. Just a smaller tank which imo doesn't bother me at all. Less juice to replace if I want to swap flavors. Plus it seems like.les has gotten way better at customer service. I think he was swamped. But unlike another one man pv maker he seems to be able to bring his pv's to market when he says he is.

I highly recommend this. Took me a while to finally drop in. Tierra whats up girl!! But back to twisted coil I have noticed even more flavor with this on 32awg at 4 wraps. Huge clouds with short pulls maybe 3 seconds or so and will get you nic sick. And vg juice will give you the satisfaction that I always crave. Katana is good but Orion trumps everything I have in my lineup. I have yet to find another genisis that comes close to the Orion with my tune. But ymmv, twisted coil is vaping nirvana!!

I second that my bro ;-)
