I don't know the stock intake size, but for me IMO it was too tight. The cap was getting hot because I chain vape. It was getting hot to the point it was hindering vapor production. I opened mine up to 1.6mm or 1/16, now I can chain vape with no problems. This just my opinion take it for what it's worth.

Great idea! I'm going to need it. Thanks tierrataz! I find it actually pretty funny, I like it when I go to a list and I see all the same people over there on it. It was like that for the orion, the sturms. You're like "Oh, there's the Ob!, man, he was a bit late to the game on this one"

Thanks to K-man tipping me off, I got myself set up at s....y 240. Which at the time seemed way way down the list, but now I'm sitting pretty!

Hey gang. I see a lot of familiar names on the list. Looks like a lot of Orion's will hit the US this summer.
. What do you think about putting together a tips/tricks post that could be tagged & bumped as needed?

I left my inlet hole stock and it is just how I like it. I am thinking about drilling the wick hole out to put a piece of ptfe in it cause at times the wire will get all gummed up with black junk and this happens within the first 1/2 tank! I think it could only be that it's grounding out there.

Well I finally got the time to mess with the wick hole and got a 3mm bit and honed it out and installed a piece of 3mm plastic tubing and she is doing good! but I was wanting to replace the O-rings, does anyone know the exact size the orion came with? Oh and I dremeled the tank to match the air hole up so no more O-ring to make it line up, was a small thing but A LOT nicer not to have to mess with it, just screw it on and no worries about it lining up!

First impressions of this device.

Build quality is superb. Really well put together. Threads are smooth and it just feels balanced in your hands.

I currently own a katana, a couple of lines and more than a couple of zenesis so that is what I have to compare to.

Negatives.

Tank size. Good for short jaunts for me, but a little larger tank would be nice.

Draw. I would prefer a little more air. I think having grown up on the zenesis, I am used to a easier draw and can adjust airflow in a way I want. I would drill the hole out but have a tendency to ruin things like that. Could I justify buying a drill press just to do this?

Using a o ring to line up the cap. Once again if I was not so bad at stuff, I would sand the tank down. I'm afraid.

Positives

Size. This is huge. By huge I mean how small it is in 18350 mode. Smaller than any other device I have. This makes it a ideal carry device.

The screw cap. See above. No worries about it popping off in. My pocket.

Versatility. The ability to convert battery sizes is nice indeed.

The switch. Smooth. Fires well. I do have some concerns about electric switches and ruining them somehow. The beauty of all mechanical is that there is very little to go wrong. that being said, the switch is fantastic.

Overall setup was easy, except for wrapping the wire which I'll get used to. I have also had no leaking so far so that's nice.

I will say I do get more vapor and still better flavor with my zenesis overall. That being said the size and portability of this device gives it a place in my rotation for sure.

It's a great little device that everyone should own.

What cap are you guys using on your zens? I had the open draw cap on mine and tried for 6 days straight to get the flav on par with my orion and katana .

Stock cap,had to relearn how to draw,Kinda like the 510 or 808 autos that almost everyone starts with, slow and steady.
my orion has a stiffer draw than my zenesis(duh)and that makes a difference in flavor.Taste is subjective, air mix affects taste.
My katana is the same as the orion, stiffer than the zen,but that don't keep me from using them all.

My orion and katana both have the air holes bored out to 5/64 wich is bigger than the zens and I still get great flav with both of them not so much with the zen. :( I wanted to like the zen I love the big tank and build quality but the flav was not there .

@Ob, great first impressions. I hear ya on the electronics. I like simple, easy to fix. That's why I rock 2 of Les' originals. They are pretty hard to come by as only about 100 were sold and many were modded by Pailpoe later. These little bombs pack a huge punch on a fresh AW.
@Brian, my experience has been the same sans katana. I think it's the size of the air chamber affecting the air mix. Taste is subjective but I find the flavor on Orion's to be quite brilliant.

And I am the one that let my original go to taz... For a V2.1 + cash on my end. Fairest lady to deal with BTW.

It has the wire electrodes in it vs. the M2 post & screws. I was going to convert it over myself, but because I could wrap a coil and get consistent connections (from lots of practice) I hadn't done that. I paid $90 for that little 16340 work horse, and it was my goto pocket genisis mod. I miss it TBH. I knew it well, how to make it work, all its little idiosyncrasies, and held on to it for a long time (in my book) till, what I felt was a perfect trade.

So I loved it so much, I felt the V2.1 would be even better. In certain respects it is. I went off the deep end and traded taz for my V1, and she sent it straight to me when she got it from Nosmoker, in its original packaging even... and then I turned around and traded my Zen Mini for a V2, because I had it in my head this was my PV (the Zen was just not pocket friendly enough for me). They arrived within days of each other. The V2.1 is definitely refined over the V2 with the top change and the recessed switch, so I made those small changes to my V2.

Well 2 weeks later, my V2.1 switch went south on me. It became intermittent. Now I freaked a little, but PM'd Nosmoker and he was quick to respond. He suggested pulling the switch and soldering the 5 contacts and the outer edge solder run on the PCB that makes contact with the body. I pulled it, and lo and behold, liquid was getting down into the switch from the atty chamber. So instead I cleaned that up and put it back together. It seamed better... but I realized after a day of using it, it was still misfiring. So I went ahead and did as Nosmoker suggested. But no change... then it started getting worse, and now it does not fire at all. I PM'd Pailpoe, and thankfully he is sending me a new switch. I am not sure, but I believe the microswitch is what went on mine. So now I am waiting on the new switch. Props to Nosmoker & Pailpoe for the support btw!!!

In the meantime, I took the switch from my V2 (they are slightly different BTW) and put it in my V2.1. Good to have a spare. V2.1 is back in action. I did add 2 o-rings this time (vs the one that was in there) below the shoulder isolator for the M2 center post though. Pailpoe shows how to add the o-ring in one of his youtube videos. If you are comfortable with disassembly, I would look into this BTW. If you notice ANY liquid on the - side of your batt, you should check this.

I really love these (A)PVs... but got a little lesson in electronic vs. mechanical switches. So with that, if Pailpoe makes his VV switch available for us to purchase, I for one will be buying at least 2!!! I do feel that I could build my own though if it came down to it (I am an electronics/radar guy), I am just a little on the lazy side sometimes  and it would just be a very simple switch. In a pinch, I can replace the M2 center post and use a GGTS bottom tube on it... they fit the threading, just would lose the size advantage

You are probably right Jolly. Just take a look at the v2 order list. I doubt these guys expected such a demand.

Bummer about your switch. Last I heard, you had it sorted. On a different subject, I sent you mail about the M2 parts you sourced for the v1. Thinking Id like to give it a go. :)

You didn't get my reply???
