Fantastic vapor production! I'd love to get my hands on a v1.0, but those wonky silver posts pre-clockworks are a deal breaker, as enticing as an all mechanic orion sounds.
Rick I will a bit later for you. Here is mine on a totally stock orion V1.0. Smaller intake & mouthpiece than V2.1 & shot with the swap cooler on because it was over 110F. Notice how short my draws are.

Just to clarify, the terminals on the V1.0 are copper with silver soldered tips. Van uses silver wire. ;-)
I thought I would really prefer the M2 post set up. What I found was the wire is more forgiving and allows very tiny adjustments on the fly. Certainly hard for a genni virgin as I was at the time, but I think I could set up anything now! I even mastered wrapping a twisted coil without using solder on the terminals.

All mechanical is for me - he told me after his vacation he would work on an all mechanical switch to use instead of electronic. I will buy one for sure to swap out
Boring out the wick hole has to be the single most important thing to do. Larger wick holes are just awesome. None of my genisis wick holes are insulated - not necessary IMO

A member on VP is working on turning Orion replacement caps. The goal is without integrated mouthpiece. It's in the prototype stage.

The leather holsters Less is going to sell are made for the Orion in the 18650 mode...but if you put a spare 18350 battery on the bottom of the holster, put on top of it the Orion in mini mode, you can operate the button AND have a backup battery with you

Thanks for the tip, I'm looking forward to getting one. Is the batt touching metal a good idea? Can't it short out the batt? I know pocket change can..
Here's a picture of the current prototype, the chamfer is going to be increased to make it more like the original, the wieght is about 3grams lighter than the original, the chamber size is the same as the original, they will either be drilled with a 1mm hole set to be at the bottom of the wick - you will need to sand your tank so the cap screws on 6 turns or they can be supplied with no hole for those that have already sanded the tank to the maximum and wish to position the hole to suit. Hah, yes, very OCD here. Either that or stuff something in there to raise it to operating level.
Nice pics 'd'. Glad to hear the chamber size is the same as you mentioned in the other thread. I don't know how I feel about the extra chamfer because that'll raise the drip tip more. One reason I don't like trip tips is they cool the vapor too much for me. I'm all about having a short mouthpiece, which is why I like the stock tip.
Don't get me wrong, great work and lots of people will be happy!
The chamfer is on the larger diameter not the chimney part, the chimney will be as short as possible so that the bottom of the drip tip is flush with the top of the internal chamber ie virtually touching the centre negative post, I find the standard metal tube is uncomfortable and when chain vaping it gets too hot

I agree with Debi that the v1 Mechanicals hit much harder. I traded one of mine away for some other Gen hybrid I thought I'd like better, but I was wrong and was fortunate enough to get it back. It's my primary vape, with my 2.1 backing it up. If/when Les makes another mechanical Orion, I'm in for sure. And for all those that are thinking about boring out your top cap, just keep in mind that you lose flavor and warmth when you do. I've had both a 2.1 and a 1.0 that were bored out and I quickly sold them. If you really want more vapor, you're better off doing as Rick suggested and going with a 3/2 30AWG coil which makes plenty of vapor! Also, I do recommend keeping an extra switch handy. If it weren't for the fact I had my v1s when my 2.1 switch died, I would have been SOL.
Just requested to be put on the list over at vaporwall. Don't think there's a chance in hell that I'll be able to make this run. Even if all unconfirmed sit out I'm still like 15 spots out after the reserved list fills those spots but who the hell knows.
So you will get the improvements of the next run. There are benefits to being on a later run
I am actually waiting to even get on a list just for that reason

Ouchhh, I know that feeling. First time I ever drilled a top cap was with my Katana v1 and the black oxide bit broke 1/2 way through drilling the hole. I was not happy. Even though TI bits are roughly 2-3x as expensive as the black oxide (and 1 or 2 $ more than the cobalt), they're WELL WORTH IT. When I bored out my mp to 11/64", the brand new Craftsman TI bit I used cut through the SS like BUTTER! And that was with my crappy 10 year old corded hand-drill. A drill press would have made the job even easier.
