Over paranoid?

OK here is a few concerns that I am not sure anyone else has asked or brought up in the past.

PET this stuff is HORRIBLE, I chalk this trash up with toxic plastic petrochemicals in Chinese made baby formula that the FDA says is safe....is this the same FDA that says PV nic replacement is bad for you???

PG I am getting the sweats thinking about this stuff is it not also used as antifreeze, deicing agent for planes and cryonics??

So has anyone found a decent possible organic batting for the carts, I was thinking of picking up some non bleached cotten filters for RYO and try those with the pen and steel spring mod.

Has anyone gone 100% VG and not had issues?

PET? Not sure what you are discussing here? Can you elaborate?

PG I am getting the sweats thinking about this stuff is it not also used as antifreeze, deicing agent for planes and cryonics??

NO. PG is the same stuff used in food flavorings. Check out a bottle of imitation vanilla flavor on your grocer shelves. Ingredient #2 is PG. It's in a plethora of foods!

If you're afraid of the filler, just remove it and directly apply the liquid to the atomizer.

Has anyone gone 100% VG and not had issues?

I think a LOT of people use VG without issue.

Heh, yeah. Overly paranoid.

If you're afraid of PG I suggest you don't eat, since it's in a lot of our foods. Also, you may want to stay away from any liquid medications, as most of it is mostly PG. Oh, and don't use soap, mouthwash, or gel deodorant.

And drop that cookie... it could kill you! Don't you know it's partially made out of antifreeze??? OMG, we're all gonna die! :p

I forgot which part of the forum I saw this, but organic wool or brass tobacco screens have been used with great success by forum members. Someone used the non bleached cotton and said the wool was better.

I read both threads today, so they couldn't be buried too deeply. Perhaps the modders forum under cartridges? I've been all over the forum.

It would be in your tea then too. Water for making tea is boiling hot.

I think if anyone is concerned about being allergic to PG or VG (or any juice), then dab some on the inside of your forearm (elbow) and do a patch test. I did and rubbed it in, left it until my next shower. Only made my skin softer. Usually no irritation means no allergy.

ECOpure VG is pretty good, nice flavor and vapor. Tried that thinking PG caused a reaction. It didn't. Just was a little dehydrated and needed to drink more water.

You didn't see anything being asked directly? There are entire multipage threads devoted to this topic and more.

You could try the search function. It's been known to work quite well. You can even select which thread to search.

It's frightening when one panics for no reason isn't it? Glad you found the answers you were looking for.

The whole PG/antifreeze thing is, IMHO, confused. Antifreeze does have some PG in it, but it is primarily ethylene glycol (EG), which is toxic to animals. I say animals to include humans and other vertebrates, such as house pets that lick antifreeze that has leaked from a radiator onto the road because it is sweet. They will generally either get very sick or die.

PG and EG are similar in structure, and depending on the synthesis method for PG, EG could be a present in a cheap industrial synthesis of PG. I suspect that there was trace EG found in some Chinese carts, which would not surprise me. It COULD be that since there is some PG found in antifreeze that the FDA could make a scare tactic statement about the PG as an ingredient of antifreeze, but I would tend to think it is that they found a very small amount of EG.

Of course, analogs also have EG in them, plus far worse stuff, so they don't have much intelligent to say now.

I use USP VG with zero problems. Got it from Whole Foods. Cost slightly more than regular PG. Of course the two are BOTH propylene glycol, about 99.5%. The difference is likely in the .5%, which is probably eutectic water and slight impurities that depend on the method of production: animal industry or biofuel industry.

Thought I would ask since I did not see anything being asked directly.

polyethylene terephthalate (PET) the toxic leaching chemical from water bottles and other plastics at temp. Like those pyramid "gossamer" tea bags.
From my research, pyramid tea bags are made of nylon. Some are made from a bio-degradable material called polylactic acid thread, but those don't seem to hold up as well in PVs.

I believe what the FDA found was a trace amount of diethylene glycol.

Yes, in fact, they did, which has been covered extensively in other posts. Of course the amount that they found was equivalent to what has been found in regular tobacco cigarettes.

This is what many of the pro-vape activists are trying to do. Get the TRUTH out there. Not speculation.

I work for the National Weather Service - and I use PG every day. We use it as an environmentally-friendly alternative to other antifreezes (Prestone, etc) in our AWPAG (All-Weather Precipitation Accumulation Gage). That said, I'm vaping it now. I don't care. As others have said above - it's used in foods and personal products as well. What do they call it? GRAS? Generally recognized as safe?

PET is pretty safe:

The Safety of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)

Also the Pyramid Tea Bags from Lipton are also made of PET. Although some tea bags are made with 50% nylon and 50% PET.

PG I am getting the sweats thinking about this stuff is it not also used as antifreeze, deicing agent for planes and cryonics??

PG is used in anti-freeze to make it LESS dangerous to animals. It isn't toxic, like diethyl or ethylene glycol.

Cotton is not advised. There's a thread on several types of material people have used or considered using....

Has anyone gone 100% VG and not had issues?

Some have reported being allergic to VG. Not as many as to PG though, and even those are rare.
