I have thrown away so many cheap devices it would have been cheaper for me to pay for something overpriced.

Like what for example , i don't think i have thrown out a single mod due to it not functioning well , i don't buy super cheap but i typically buy mid range stuff like the iPV2S and iPV2X 60 watt mods and the Sig 75 watt which can be had for $34.00 right now .

They have all been beat on and haven't missed a beat .

I would love to know the names of all these atrocious quality mods your tossing away .

The VS rDNA 40 was supposed to be the bees knees & mine glitched to hell IMMEDIATELY after the warranty ran out. VS being such an **cough** outstanding **cough** company told me I had to spend $25 on the maintenance kit in order to get it fixed.

My flawed device supposedly came from new stock with all board issues having been corrected. So NO!! Paying more definitely doesn't mean better....just means I spent more for better JUNK!!!

Note 5!!!

Did you bother contacting Evolv? They guaranteed the DNA 40 for 12 months.

And even $25 would be a hell of a lot better than your typical throw away mod which most people own.

Yeah , VS does charge ridiculous prices for basic service but you got away pretty well actually , there are some stories on ECF where people had their VS die right after the warranty ran out and VS did nothing . We are talking a device that had an MSRP of $185.00 .

VS now has these priced at around $140.00 and their still profiting big time , shows you just how much many people overpay for stuff.

I don't follow Asmodus anymore , there are great discussions about them somewhere on ECF . Wow , didn't know they went to 30 days , i guess it can get worse , most thought it couldn't get any worse, what a disgrace.

Thanks for the update , just mind boggling that company .
This is from their website.

To our valued customers and partners,

It is with deep regret that we here at asMODus will no longer be offering warranty services for all versions of Pioneer4You products as of JUNE 30th 2015.

Although we were contracted by Pioneer4You to provide warranty service throughout the US, we were doing it with no financial restitution. We were happy to repair devices for the vape community free of charge as long as Pioneer 4 You provided us with the units necessary to do so. As the amount of broken devices began to rise and more requests for repairs came in, we were not provided with the same correlatively needed increase in the amount of parts, tools, and units necessary for repairs and replacements. This insufficiency in supplies has caused great delays in us being able to resolve issues in an accepted amount of time.

Here at Asmodus, we pride ourselves in maintaining exceptional relations with the retail shops along with all the consumers. However, we feel that this situation in shortage of stock which therefore caused delays has hindered at that relationship in which we hold highly.

Since this announcement has been sudden, we will honor warranty requests for Pioneer4You products sent in with a postmark on or before June 30th. After this date, we will not accept Pioneer4You products; anything received after this date will be promptly returned to sender.

We hope that this change in our services does not greatly inconvenience you. We are incredibly thankful for your continued patience and support. We look forward to continue serving you and the entire vape community for many more years to come.

In case you didn't know , I am one of the posters who originally posted this way back in june , maybe it was VU when i was a member there, don't remember.

I was heavily involved in the Asmodus talk that originated on this forum though so i know it all too well . What is the point of posting old news now though is my question .

Expensive mods should NOT need warranty service is another way to look at it .

Nope, I have only had to send one Provari in for repair, they have held up best. The circuit board broke loose.

I'm a rock climber. I also belong to the NSS, we use drag packs and often let our bags fall so we don't have to carry them down on a decent. I have been a little inactive with the NSS but that is going to pick up.

The only throw away mods i am aware of is mods with built in batteries , if we are talking about built in battery mods than yes, that their battery will die eventually is no secret , all of those types are throwaway .

You cannot hold that against them though, i thought this was about replaceable battery mods.

On the other hand....I have a whole bunch of boutique mods that were stupid expensive and, to me, worth every penny. High end, hand made bottom feeders that are indestructible. In the event anything were to happen to any of them, I'd simply send em back and the modder would fix it. No timeline.... Just a phone call. They will last for life and if I ever wanted to sell any of them, they'd go quick. They're not assembly line mods. Same with my attys. They're all authentic and converted to bottom feeders by Catfish from here on ECF. Again, any problems, he'll take care of it. Sometimes you DO get what you pay for.
I ordered a ProVari Radius today. I've owned many ProVari devices over the years. Never had an issue and I'm sure this won't be the exception. 40 watts is plenty to run a squape RS.
Quality shouldn't be defined by how many watts something goes to. Most of my stuff is mechanical. I define quality by how well it works for you. Knocking other people's gear is ridiculous. Like Marlboro smokers making fun of the dude with Pall Malls.

Well if you ever owned an iPV III , iPV2S , iPV2X you would know instantly that there is no way your breaking these by dropping them , tough as nails .

Unfortunately P4U changed things and went to a much more delicate and breakable enclosure on the iPV 4 , D2'S etc.. they don't make them like they used to.

For $10 more your joyetech isnt nearly bas accurate, doesnt buck/boost nor do i think its DC-DC in wattage mode and temp mode.

I also don't believe Joyetech was presenting to the OMB and FDA this past week to fight for our rights and save this industry. VaporShark was there though as reported by Jay Love of Five Pawns.

You realize that some of your VaporShark money goes to support advocacy. Right? And that's even after the better mod. Who cares though as long as you have a cheap box to puff on until the DIYers are the only ones left vaping. Why wasnt your precious Joyetech here? Thats right. When regulations hit, they will just move to another electronic.

You lucky SOB LOL , so your one of those people who own those one of a kind mods huh , great to be you , i'm jealous now.

I agree what your talking about are way above what most consider high quality , and the lifetime service is a HUGE plus.

This is a little extreme but this is a decent, the image is reversed. You drop your pack on purpose at times before your go down yourself, this is NSS stuff. Most are not this high.

These are not accidental drops, you just let if fall. My one broken board on a Provari was not a failure on an NSS survey but rock climbing, the board was jarred loose. If you are crawling long distances were ceilings are low you spool out some rope and drag your pack and gear behind you. Lots of bouncing around.

I think your in the wrong thread lol, you should be in the "for those that have a death wish " thread . No better time to break out the vape gear than when your hanging by a thread in a hole that has no bottom.

Best to carry throw aways in that position, are you really going to go look for a dropped Provari ?

In mods and attys youre not paying just for parts... if you want to pay spare parts prices buy the parts and the material and build your own..
Youre paying for parts, ideas, labor, marketing and of course some markup because moneu has to be made or it wouldnt be worth it... some linea made a name for themselves, so they can charge big. Vaporshark stuff is expensive, but people buy it. Provari is expensive, people buy it. Some juice costs 22 bucks for 30mls and people buy it. .... i buu it sometimes, when j want that beard n.5 or aome cuttwood unicorn milk. I know some wont.
So basically its whats it worth to you? If you dont agree with the price dont buy. Go to fasttech, they carry a lot of the same .... some of which works the same for a fraction of the price, some people prefer authentic though.
