Hi everyone. I am new to ecigs. I dropped smoking after getting sick 3 weeks ago and have longed for a good puff every once and a while so I decided to give ecigs a try.

I have been scavenging the site for the past few days trying to take in information. I'm looking for a good starter kit to build off of. However there are so many products and information on this site that it feels like I have been running in circles.

I stopped by my local tobacco shop and purchased a disposable ecig this afternoon and I must say. I hope the real things are so much better cause I took a few puffs and it had basically no vapor and a horrible taste.

yes a "Real" eCig is worlds better than a Disposable.

I'd look at an eGo(either standard, T or C)

- Long enough battery life to get you through a day
- VERY common 510 connection allowing for greater options of carts, tips, atomizers, tanks, etc etc.
- VERY popular on here, allowing you a better "support and trouble shooting system ;)

I got mine from Totally Wicked... BUT TW is over-priced compared to others... their equipment is nice, it's genuine Joyetech(the company that makes eGo), but there are cheaper alternatives.

My 4 BIG pieces of advice:

DO NOT
Assume you can find one magic retailer... no one source carries everything you will want or need, keep your mind open.

DO
Buy more than you think you need... multiple batteries, atomizers, juice... nothing worse than running out.

DO NOT
Get stuck on the idea that it has to look like a cigarette... truth is, the more it looks like a cig, the worse it works.

REMEMBER
Everyone is different... just because one(or maybe many) members on here love something, doesn't mean you will. The same is also true in reverse... if you like something, don't worry if others don't

Hi cootees and welcome to ECF!

Those disposables are garbage compared to what is available.

We can help you narrow it down to what would be ideal for you with just a little information.

How many cigarettes per day di you smoke? What brand? Do you want an ecig that looks like the real thing, or are you comfortable with something a little different? How much $$$ are you looking to spend?

If you want something like a real cig take a look at Volt, Bloog, Halo G6, or Vapor4Life. These will last a couple of hours before needing to be recharged.
If you want something that holds a longer charge, then there is a plethora of options. eGo, KGO, Riva, Echo, vGo, iGo, GoGo, etc.

Thanks for the advice.

Size is not a big ordeal to me. I would like it to comfortably fit in my pocket. I'm usually always near a device that I could charge it if need be too.

When I did smoke, I smoked Marlboro Lights. 1 pack a day. However I do like tinkering with things too so the ego does sound like a good investment.

I was a PAD Marlboro Ultra Light guy myself...

Now I'm Vaping 1.5-2ml of 18mg 100% VG Liquid a day.

Sorry, lots of abbreviations in there LOL

Welcome to ECF cootees. If you're interested in a PV that can last most of the day without a battery charge or change then the recommendations for the larger battery kits might be of interest to you. Much of this depends on your life style. Are you one that is at a computer most of the time? Are you in your car more than not? Do you have a job that might require a "tough" PV? Can you vape where you work?

Secondly, How do you smoke? What do you like about it? How often do you smoke? Asking yourself a few questions about yourself will certainly help you in choosing the right PV to keep you smoke free. Vaping is not smoking. It surely can replicate a lot of what we liked about smoking but there are a different set of rules and routines to learn.

We'll be here and we will try to help you make your transition as smooth as possible. Good luck to you!

Then definitely look into the eGo (3.3V), Riva 510 (3.7V), or KGO (3.7-4.0V). They have different battery sizes, so for reference 100mah = about 1 hour of vaping. The models I mentioned are available anywhere from 650mah to 1300mah. One battery could potentially get you through a whole day of vaping. :)

When you order juices, go with 12-18mg nicotine strength.

Checkout MadVapes I've been buying all my stuff from them since last June..they carry almost anything you need at reasonable prices and with good customer service and shipping..although they stopped carrying the cartomizers (CE2's because of supplier issues) I prefer so I might have to get them somewhere else..but they have lots of options and lots of flavors of e-liquid. 510 or eGo (eGo's have a 510 connector) is probably the best way to go..good luck :)

Yeah, the disposables taste gross! I agree with the eGo, Kgo, or that type of PV. I have a Kgo, and I am very happy with it.

KGO's are really just eGo's under a different name..probably Riva wanted there's to stand out by using a different name..they are probably made in the same factory in China or at least the components inside lol...

The Riva products are 3.7v whereas the Joye eGo products are 3.4v. You get a little better vape from the higher voltage models.

They look pretty much the same to me..same cases and switches as my Smok Tech eGo's..although the newer ones are slightly different..mine test at 3.7v too..they could be using a different battery or voltage regulator inside I guess..but looking at them they probably roll off the same line..maybe the Joye ones are different and Riva just likes to call there's a KGO when others call there knockoffs eGo's...

I was in your shoes a few weeks ago. Just relax. Find a shop in your state, whatever the closest is with the best hours for you, and go. Just go. Walk in, explain you're new and need help and they'll help you. I NEVER would have started had it not been for the people at Kokomo Pure Vapors here in Indiana walking me through each and every mod they had in the store.

As for the eGo, it's what my wife has and I'm not a fan of it. Not nearly enough power behind it for me. But, SHE loves it. If you smoked marb lights the eGo will probably be more than enough for you.

Joye Ego is a regulated 3.7 volt battery and has a working voltage of 3.4 volts. You are measuring the battery voltage not the volts it puts out under load with a cartomizer.

Yeah I know that and I plan on making an adapter to test my stuff with a load to see..anyways look at the cases of the KGO and eGo's they are made on the same line I'm sure..maybe KGO's use a different spec voltage regulator or battery..things are made on the same line all the time with slight changes..also mine are not Joye they are Smoke Tech 900mah...
