Pen Prodigy and a Mini USB Pass

I understand that the Prodigy is not a Pen, I was referring to the adapter that lets you put the Pen style atty on it.

It would have been nice if the adapters were interchangeable between the USB Pass and the Prodigy. This would let people buy a generic Pass and Prodigy and just buy adapters to switch between mini & pen, etc. from usb to prodigy.

Of course this would reduce the sales of each specific product line, which doesn't make good $$ sense for a business, but would help the customer spend less money and maximize utilization of their equipment.

It's all about the diameter difference in the two units. The USB PT adaptor is only 11/16", as it only required the internal space for a switch and wiring, while the Prodigy was designed to hold the 18650 battery and required a 15/16" diameter adaptor. I'm sure Steve would've loved to avoid all the headaches that come with designing and manufacturing the additional adaptors... Sadly the differing form factors prevent it.

Dude... what if the PD, PT and Protege all had the same diameter?

I'm not certain but I believe this has something to do with the battery size and the size of the resistor within the switch.

Again not certain.

Also if you meant why don't they make the Protege bigger to accomodate the same adapters.

One of the main points is it's a slimmer model.

Personally the PD is a great size for me.

Same. I've got huge girlfriend-stealing hands. Prodigy fits mine absolutely perfectly.

Gary,

The PT was not intended or designed to be 1/2 of a PureSmoker product Duo. They were designed, researched and built for two very different purposes and to meet two very different market segments.

The PT was intended to solve the issues consumers were facing with the standard run of the mill chinese PT's. Building it unnecessarily oversized would've drastically impacted the price point (which is already ~50% higher at the current size) and removed it from consideration for a large portion of the market due to size alone.

Well I can agree with the size issue but not the "drastically impacted the price point" for a bigger tube and adpater. Some additional cost yes but not drastic. I know I like my two!

My reason for using "Drastically" was not only for material costs. It also would've had to be redesigned and tested, new parts sourcing for the grommets, switches and any other components that had been sourced based on existing diameter.

BTW, Ya aint alone there Pard.... Luv'n my Duo 2!
