I know what you mean. I've found its no big deal. However, I try every time anyway. On a 3mm double wick, I start with the point where the R and NR connect between the two wicks. 4 wraps, not too loose and not too tight, and the other end usually lands at the same point on the other side. But again, it really doesn't matter. It's just an OCD thing.

Now that I'm playing with 3.5mm, the game has changed. LOL

I used a 3.5mm silica in the Penelope, and I think it is my favorite so far. It just seems to fit perfectly, and allows me to open it up more without the fear of flooding. How is it working in yours?

have you guys tried the cotton wick on the penelope?

Sent from my nokia 2100 using Tapatalk black and white version

I'm a fan of cotton wicks, but I am not sure how that would work. Cotton doesn't wick as good as silica, in my experience, but it does tend to hold more. I think if using a silica wick in the Penelope, with cotton wick at the top (where the coil is) might actually work pretty well.

I'm going to play with the Penelope this weekend, so maybe I will give it a shot.

I thought I purchased #2 but heard from an ecf pal that #4 is closest to 3mm. Seems like I would have tried to stick to the size of the silica. Safest bet it to send them a message via eBay and ask what sizes correlate to specific measurements.

I'm really happy to be off the silica I must say.

Why is that blackwater? Why is it you are happy to be off the silica?

I feel much safer vaping on %100 cotton than Fiberglass which seems after awhile to disintegrate and don't want to have any fibers lodging in my throat and lungs. This is just my opinion and lots of people claim Silica is safe. I'm not saying its not. I just feel it's a healthier alternative to silica. YMMV

I switch to cotton for that reason as well but it's not wicking as good so I'm back to silica but change it more often, will not let it get to dry/old so it won't break and allow pieces in my mouth.

Did you try all the cotton methods? Cheese cloth, yarn, cotton batting, candle wick.

Let me ask you beautiful people a question? Does the Penny change what flavors you get from your juice as opposed to other attys. not in a bad way (it vapes beautifully)...

For example, I'm vaping on Flavorz by Joe coquito and have always dripped it on a 510 debridged atty. Nothing special. It's supposed to be coconut, cinnamon, rum and somewhat creamy/milky (mimicking damn well what a real Puerto Rican coquito tastes like). On the atty I get coconut and cinnamon and it's pretty creamy. On the Penny, I'm getting drunk off the rum (has that cool "burn" of taking a shot) with hints of cinnamon, very little coconut and some, but not much, milk/creaminess. Why is that? I'm enjoying it either way, though I would want some more of that cinnamon/coconut to pop. Looks like Penny wants to get me drunk and take me home... xD

Every atty seems have different flavor characteristics. I just started using Penelope in drip mode and she pumps out the same great hit and vapor, but with more flavor for some reason. Maybe because the drip mouthpiece is closer to the coil...I don't know. I get more flavor from Ody when he's in big mode though.

Guys, need some help here. I've been trying to bring my Ohms down to 1.5 but seem to have extreme difficulties. I use use the Scott Bonner method of twisting the NR wires to the Kanthal. After such, I use my multimeter to measure the Ohms. It does read 1.5 and sometimes even 1.4. my problem is when I install in on my Penelope, the Ohms goes up between 1.8 - 2.0 ohms. Anyone experiencing the same? Would appreciate some input from you guys. Thanks

I have my Penelope since a few days and i have experienced something similar. When i checked the resistance with the Provari, sometimes it first shows the aimed 1.6 / 1.7, but then it jumped up to 2.5 or higher.

I think this results if the ground wire has a problem with the connection to the base - you can try the solution which Imeo showed in this vid:

For me it worked fine! Now the resistance is stable at 1.6/1.7 Ohms.

Cheers,
doolak

I forgot to mention another point:

How do you measure the resistance? Do you just measure the resistance wire or do you hold the pins of the multimeter right and left on the no-resistance wire? I would suggest the second.

And, please take care that the no-resistance wire is twisted proper around the resistance wire. If there are "loose" coils or parts of the no-resistance wire it can happen, that they touch the resistance wire sometimes - and sometimes not - which results in ups and downs of the resistance.

Could that loose ground connection cause that much higher resistance? I have been using now 30awg wire. And in my current setup i have 35mm length of wire between silver wires. That should give 1ohm resistance when i calculate it with calculator. Now my provari and multimeter shows 1.9 ohms. Actually i have had this problem with my both penelopes and in my every setup. Only way i had 1.5ohm setup is when i did wrap two 32awg kanthals together. With single wire it seems impossible to me to get low resistance.

Edit. Just tried to make couple new setups. I did wrap my negative wire couple wraps over wick. Doesn't really do nothing for me. Resistance still pretty high. First setup was first 1.5 ohms but after while it got up to 2 ohms. Second setup was 1.4 ohms and did also get around 2 ohms. Any good tips for making low resistance coils? Im kinda losing my hope in here.
