The dogs seem facinated by the tomatos..maybe it's the chook! Cute puppy! Love the merle pattern/color.

It's apples, next door give me their windfalls for the chooks! First time Bodie went near the chickens, one of them gave him a hard peck on the nose so he tends to be abit wary now. He is getting braver now and was woofing at them when bubba wasn't there "herding" them. I think he had to step in and cover bubba's job, bless him! The chooks seem to have got all brave and dominant since Bodie came home, I've never seen them try to have a go back at bubba. I used to have them free range in the garden until they ate everything! Bubba used to herd them into the house. I'd be in the front room and would suddenly hear "bok bok bok bagaw" and there they'd be all lined up in the kitchen! Bless bubba, he really thought he was doing a good job! Now the chooks are in a run. It was just mud by the time they were done!

My old shepherd just scattered mine..she had no idea about herding them..they are like trying to herd water! But she was much better at herding the G'kids..she hated the thought of them going near the pool..even when we were with them! (We were always with them when they were outside) She tried to keep them on the porch. Poor kids! Shawn would practice getting out of the pool at any point by pretending he was falling in..poor Tish jumped in behind him to rescue him so often we finally had to put her in the house. She couldn't swim well and Mike had to rescue her!

owww...and he was just trying to protect you

I used to have a lab that could not be outside when anyone was in the pool. He'd jump in, grab hold of your arm and swim (dragging you) to the ladder. He'd let go only when you grabbed hold of the ladder. The fun part was sitting in a float and letting him tow us around the pool.

We were never sure if he was trying to rescue us, or keep us out of "his" pool.

That's just too funny! My son harnessed our black lab to a sled when he was a kid. It didn't work very well cuz she didn't understand "left", "right", or "STOP YOU FLEA-BITTEN MUTT!!".

we had a husky when i was a kid. the sledding part worked about like it did with your lab.

dog...leash...running dog....skateboard....crack in sidewallk.....= major owies !

trying to have him pull us on the skateboard didn't even require a crack. took about half a second for him to pull us off the skateboard. fly a teesy distance and skid along the sidewalk. (should have let go of the leash- oops)

I just had a wonderful time reading and watching the stories here, especially the rescue ones. Very happy to be here and if I ever get a camera, I will try and figure out how to post pictures so y'all can see my two girls. Two spoiled kitties we rescued from the shelter 9 years ago. We decided on cats over dogs because they would be better alone when we went on vacation. Never say so. We have a critter sitter come in if we're gone for more than 1 night. :)

Ok, ya'll asked for it...I'll try to control myself lol.

This is Miss Bella, one of our LGD (livestock guardian dogs). And don't worry, she's as pampered as any house pet! Bella is a Maremma sheepdog and was raised primarily with my ewe and lamb flock. These pics were taken just a few days after she arrived, she was about 3 mos old I believe. She was actually born in a sheep barn and was raised there with her litter mates so being around sheep and goats was what she is comfortable with. In this series of shots, she was trying to get a walnut out from underneath Zeus, the sheep in the pic.
