Hi there i am a 30 year female who didn't smoke. i started using the ecig with 0 mg of nicotine. i always noticed my heart got faster when i smoked. i used a small amount of nicotine sometimes i would mix 0 mg with 6 mg of nicotine. 3 months later one day at my friends house while sitting down after dinner my heart started beating sooo fast. it was really freaking me out. my head just felt soo weird with heart palpitations and my chest was tight and i thought i was having a heart attack. i went to the ER. they took Xrays they did blood test. and they found nothing wrong and sent me home saying it was a bad panic attack. i started thinking well maybe i shouldn't do any nicotine. so i upped my pg levels with no nicotine and then i had more heart palpitations. So i was looking up allergies to Pg and it seemed like i was allergic to it. so i quit it all together. everyday my heart feels like its beating so fast and hard for no reason and then go away. i had really bad stomach acid too. i also read that pg if smoked too much can turn into lactic acid in your body and too much lactic acid can also cause anxiety. one night i threw up from so much acid in my belly. that was day 2 of quitting the ecig. i would try to lay down and it felt like my heart was beating even faster and a few nights it woke up up at 2 am beating soo fast sending me into another panic mode. i would just keep my xanax by me. now im scared to go to sleep without half a xanax. my husband also had started the ecig and he never smoked the nicotine. Omg of nicotine. he had been smoking it for about 3 months too. One night before bed last week he got a terrible attack where he felt like he couldn't breath. i just talked in through it. it was a bad panick attack. He stopped smoking his ecig too. we have been having terrible acid issues still and its been 8 days since i quite. i cant even drink my coffee in the morning or it will cause my chest to tighten and my heart to go soooo crazy! so now im desparate and drinking a detox water flush i found with cucumbers, oranges, lime, and mint. it has been making my body feel better and the anxiety and tight chest allot less. but even tonight i just had another bad tightening of the chest just sitting here watching tv with my husband. so i chewed my xanax so it would hit me fast and make all the anxiety go away. i want to know how long it has taken for people to overcome this kind of thing and how long does it take to get that pg out of our bodies. it has to be the pg allergy. :(

Sorry to hear of your issues!

It sounds like you may something more going on then a simple reaction to the PG in an e-cig.

Honestly, all i can say is get rid of the e-cigs and never pick them up again. (sorry, but i see no reason to even chance it, you have no addiction, just walk away)

Just talked about his in another thread. I had bad anxiety/panic attacks when I was younger my doctor told me to stay away from nicotine and caffeine if I could because they could make my anxiety worse.

I had the exact same symptom's you have but I didn't get anxiety/panic attacks from nicotine I got it from drug abuse. Your heart seems to be ok as you went the doctors and got it checked out, now you need to go to the doctors and see what is causing your anxiety/panic attacks.

Hello. Welcome to ecf.

If you are no longer using ecigs and/or pg/vg eliquids, then it may be something else entirely. This doesn't stay in the body that long, and most people seem to get better very quickly once they realize and stop the pg. Sounds like delayed reactions to something in your life, a crisis perhaps? In any case, I would also have hubby stop and/or change vendors that he uses, if he wants to experiment. Please see a dr and describe your symptoms. Panic attacks can come on at any time for any reason. Been there, and for me, it was an accumulation of a lot of different stressors.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

:)

Yea I think you might have something unrrelated to e-cigs. I would see a different doctor and get a second opinion. Those ER guys just want to get you in and out as quickly as possible.
As for the acid I used to get that too until I found out why. Nicotine relaxes the esophogeal sphincter (the muscle that keeps your stomach closed) I had a unconscious habit of swallowing when I took a drag. Once I realized that and stopped doing it the acid went away.

I am curious why you decided to start vaping? You didn't smoke, what was the attraction? If I started anything for the first time, even chocolate chip cookies, if I had the reaction you did, I would just pack it away in disgust. Life is too short to take up an activity that gives you such side effects! Please just put it all away and find a different activity that will make you feel better, how about jogging, or an exercise class or walking 5 miles a day, something that will give you a good energy boost and also be fun?

I had a reaction 3 months later. i didn't know my fast heart beat was because of that. i got the flu shot and got the hives from it and i thought. i was reacting to the flu shot. or too much caffeine i started vaping cus i liked the taste of it. it relieved my stress, anxiety. i use to smoke like 3 years ago and quite. always wanted to smoke everynow and then and didn't so i picked up the vaping. i'm gonna try 100 percent vg when all of this is out of my system. i do enjoy to smoke a nice cigar or pipe everynow and then too. so i just really like the taste and the feeling of smoking.

also just thought about it. i got my ejuice from local stores around town. like vapor bank, cool breeze vapors, one in nashville, one in The Woodlands Texas and one online called ecblends. so i wonder if these people dont tell you what they really put in them and that i was smoking something aweful for my body. i was smoking mad energy flavor. i dont know if that has caffeine in it. then i switched to coca cola flavor from ecblend with high pg and i was like whew fast heart beat there. just wondering if i should not buy these strange flavors in vg when i try that in the future after all this.

Hello mabelynn, your original post apparently misled me to think you had never smoked. You said

Now you say you did. So I wanted you to please know a couple things I have learned about this forum (and any other forum or on-line group): 1. always put the most accurate information you can about your problem you need an answer to. This way you can get accurate answers. 2. never ask important medical questions (this one sent you to an ER for blood and heart tests, most people would call that "important") to strangers on the internet. Please go to a doctor. If you don't like what the doctor told you, go get a 2nd opinion. Nobody here is a doctor.

Again I say, there are many activities that can relieve stress and anxiety and if vaping CAUSED stress anxiety and medical problems for you I would suggest you try a different activity. Had I decided to start making chain-saw sculptures and had to go to ER for injuries, I would be wise to try a new hobby.

If you buy liquid locally then later wonder if they lied about what they put in it, to me that would be stress. Still I feel like you try an activity *instead of vaping* where you can trust the equipment and supplies you purchase. Only you will know that.

^^This. Same thing happens to me. I thought maybe vapor was damaging my throat or something at first where it couldnt close, then I thought, that doesnt make any sense, Im not inhaling to my stomach...looked up nicotine and found its a muscle relaxer and can cause involuntary chest muscle spasms. Chalked it up to that and started breathing in my mouth and out my nose, problem solved. I get heart palpitations too, only if I vape alot though, like 12mg or higher for an extended period. I usually vape 0 or 6mg now though, so it doesnt happen much. I have arrythmia though so I get paranoid about anything my heart does wierd. If your hearts normal though I wouldnt worry about it.
