Sounds like you're cooking your juice. What's the ohm and Vs?
But you're shorting. If you get a hot spot, you're shorting. Nudge the coils...ones the glow. Or retorch that section.
Ok. First off, by topping off the wick the problem is masked. So that's why you get 15 seconds of good burn. But underneath all that, the problem exists.
My next question is when it does dry up, do ALL the coils glow? Or just one? If it's not all, the last one to glow down the chain is where the problem is likely.
If you want to be sure, rip it all out, just give it a quick torch on that top section and re wrap it. I tend to wrap out of the tank and then so a quick flame with te coils in place. It helps hold it. Then I drop te whole thing in. Knock off or not, the device doesn't wick. The mesh does. It should.
No, only one or 2 glow. I've moved all the coils one at a time several times with no effect. I hate to start over again but it looks like I'm going to have to. I lost patience with this piece of crap awhile ago and put it away. I'm losing patience again.![]()

How many wraps did you do? All coils should be lighting up evenly. Keep nudging those coils until you get them all lit up. Also look for parts of the coil that aren't touching the wick and adjust accordingly. Post a picture of your setup if you can.
i had to start over on my chid.. just stick a thin safety pin or thin needle to help make the wick rigid and wrap it again.. second and third times the charm..
Any time it glows when it's supposed to have juice it means that you have a short.
Which coil glows? From what I've read, it's usually the top one. See if you can tighten the top coil. Pull it towards the center post if you need to.
With no juice, no wick, the entire coil should glow red.
Once you add juice and the wick, it shouldn't glow. It should just be producing vapor. (It will sizzle.)
You can twist out the wick leaving the coils behind. Look at the wick and twist in the same direction as that fold/seam. Then you could give it that torch/Quebec one time. While it's out, give the coils a burn. Now they should bun evenly. Then just twist it back into your coils.
If it's too tight to remove, loosen that too but to give yourself some slack in the coils.
Not sure about this knockoff, but on my DID I know I have the top coil glowing when the neg tail between the neg post an wick, not laying on the base, but lifted. I don't seem to have that problem with anything other than the did. So as you come off the neg connection, make sure the wire is in contact with the base until it meets the wick and starts the climb.
The Cobras are, but I have a pile of Cobra glass here that is just waiting to be sandblasted and sent to it's new home! I keep telling each piece in the pile it will have a new home soon so it doesn't get too depressed and feel homeless!
I'll retorch the top of wick again when I feel I need more frustration in my life or when I'm bored. There may have been some slack in coils but it's apart now. The neg end of wire was touching floor all the way to the wick. I know it wasn't shorting there. Bottom coil never glowed when wet. Top one either.
