I had the fill screw out. :( The flavor loss may be due to not juice, burn, quench but the only time there isn't any flavor is when it isn't burning my throat. It even flamed once when I had the top off. Actually caught on fire. :-x
Sounds like you're cooking your juice. What's the ohm and Vs?

But you're shorting. If you get a hot spot, you're shorting. Nudge the coils...ones the glow. Or retorch that section.

The coils don't glow when the wick is wet. It burns fine for about 15 seconds when I drip juice on the wick then the wick dries up and a coil or 2 start glowing. That's natural if the wick is dry isn't it? And all the coils lit up evenly when I fired it up before adding juice. I don't think I have a short. I think I have a piece of crap!

EDIT: Again, this is not the cobra, it's the chinese knockoff piece of crap.

Ok. First off, by topping off the wick the problem is masked. So that's why you get 15 seconds of good burn. But underneath all that, the problem exists.
My next question is when it does dry up, do ALL the coils glow? Or just one? If it's not all, the last one to glow down the chain is where the problem is likely.
If you want to be sure, rip it all out, just give it a quick torch on that top section and re wrap it. I tend to wrap out of the tank and then so a quick flame with te coils in place. It helps hold it. Then I drop te whole thing in. Knock off or not, the device doesn't wick. The mesh does. It should.

No, only one or 2 glow. I've moved all the coils one at a time several times with no effect. I hate to start over again but it looks like I'm going to have to. I lost patience with this piece of crap awhile ago and put it away. I'm losing patience again.

How many wraps did you do? All coils should be lighting up evenly. Keep nudging those coils until you get them all lit up. Also look for parts of the coil that aren't touching the wick and adjust accordingly. Post a picture of your setup if you can.

Any time it glows when it's supposed to have juice it means that you have a short.

Which coil glows? From what I've read, it's usually the top one. See if you can tighten the top coil. Pull it towards the center post if you need to.

Went for a refill and snapped a pic. 1.8 ohms at 4.7 volts. Getting really big clouds of vapor. :D

You can twist out the wick leaving the coils behind. Look at the wick and twist in the same direction as that fold/seam. Then you could give it that torch/Quebec one time. While it's out, give the coils a burn. Now they should bun evenly. Then just twist it back into your coils.
If it's too tight to remove, loosen that too but to give yourself some slack in the coils.
Not sure about this knockoff, but on my DID I know I have the top coil glowing when the neg tail between the neg post an wick, not laying on the base, but lifted. I don't seem to have that problem with anything other than the did. So as you come off the neg connection, make sure the wire is in contact with the base until it meets the wick and starts the climb.

All coils did light up evenly when tank was empty. No pic. Ripped it apart. 4/5 wraps of 30 kanthal.

2nd from bottom consistantly and sometimes 2nd from top.

I'll retorch the top of wick again when I feel I need more frustration in my life or when I'm bored. There may have been some slack in coils but it's apart now. The neg end of wire was touching floor all the way to the wick. I know it wasn't shorting there. Bottom coil never glowed when wet. Top one either.

The Cobras are, but I have a pile of Cobra glass here that is just waiting to be sandblasted and sent to it's new home! I keep telling each piece in the pile it will have a new home soon so it doesn't get too depressed and feel homeless!

One got a very nice home.......just sayin :D

Some people swear the CHiD, or whatever it's called, is easier than the actual DID. It seems a crap shoot. The DIDs are tempermental. Once you learn the tricks, you work with them, but until then, it's a lot of bleeping on the house. NOT recommended for a house with small impressionable children in it. Just sayin :)
