That top wire gives me fits sometimes too. I use my modified Petar K method to make coils, so I usually move the wick up & down, or pull it out & fire the coil. The combination usually sorts it out.

When i get home next week, I'll need all your tips n tricks... I'm bound to get this cobra working right for me. That's if you don't mind helping out a rba noob :(

Plenty of help available....at least until moo shuts this thread down temporarily. But I believe it'll be available in read only mode for the 2-3 weeks or so until it reopens.

I am going to have to give the Petar K a try. I haven't even looked into that one. Ive heard of it but honestly never read much about that one.

Of course! There are several good people here to get you up and vaping. :)

Feel free to use my Cobra video review thread when she locks this up. ;)

Wrapping the coil onto the wick before inserting it into the device is what I'm talking about.
It leaves the coil a touch loose when it springs back after wrapping.
I can pull the wick right out of it.

Gah! my hunt for a new can of butane finally succeeded, no thanks to Walmart or local hardware stores. Apparently they've all stopped carrying it because it's explosive :glare: The guy that explained this to me in Walmart did so while standing next to a 6' tall endcap full of propane canisters. They don't even carry it in the tobacco counter anymore. Found a can at a convenience store, thankfully

Now that that's all done I could finally do up a new wick for my Cobra. Kept it simple, nothing fancy, just a hollow wick with 4/3 wrap and it's working great :) I did have a short at first that was ticking me off a little. My problem lately hasn't been the top leg, but rather the second coil down. I don't know why it's always this particular coil on my last few attempts, but at least I've been able to "nudge it away" pretty easily

This is the route I usually go. It's been the easiest and most successful in my experience

Now lemme ask you. Do YOU torch your mesh at all?

Selling propane everywhere, but no butane? I think it has to do with the stupid drug war.

I torch each side for about 30sec before rolling, and about the same once it's rolled.
I don't quench or burn off e-liquid.

And you are using a paper clip size center regardless of device correct?

Leave the paperclip in the wick when you roll it, and when you are getting it hooked up. Keeps it straight.

Yeah. I use a medium one most of the time. That skinny one seemed like it didn't wick any different than a closed wick. But there were a couple steps in my process that may have hindered it all. As I said yesterday, I have a system that works for me, but I'm always looking for a better delivery.

AG, your cobra video... Do you have a step by step on how to set up the cobra n get a good vape going in it? I'm just looking for a start to finish walk through... One that will actually help.

Everyone saying its so great once you get it, doesn't help getting it there, know what I mean.

I'll have one for you by the end of the weekend. I did it on the show last week, but the recording function wasn't working.

Oh n I use 400 mesh and 32 wire, I like my coils around the 3 ohm range. So far about 7 wraps dose it.
