Can anyone post links on where to get the "right" stuff to rebuild the coils? I've currently using pre-made coils from avid vapers , but looking at some people's pics, they have 4 coils for about a 2.0 ohm setup, my premade 2 ohm coils have like 10!!! Coils lol... Doesn't taste or hit bad, I just know that with the right material it can be "that much better" ... Thanks for any help

This may have been said in this thread I havent read the entire thread, but the most important thing I find with the phoenix RBA is to loosen the cover a bit so the hole is lined up right behind the coil/wick, no matter what wicking system your using, this makes the unit produce way more vapor, if it's not lined up like this it taste tinny, make sure you try this.

I also turned my + & - post so both wire holes are facing me, and then the wires go right through easily, and I set my coil up on the side with more room,, my wick sits opposit of the picture in the post below running east to west to the post not north to south , then I line up my outer cap hole right behind my coil,,which I rais up a bit equal with the hole on the outer cap,, just how I do mine and it produces better then the stock configuration by far.

So, I got mine from Vapor....., loaded up some Heaven's Gate Cola and fired it up without the cap on. It produced a flame. This is the first time that this has happened. I did it using what came preloaded in the rebuildable. I replaced the coil with one of my own and can't get it to happen again. Would hate to think about how horrid that would have been if I inhaled during the flame up.

I ordered 2 from vapor..... with 20 premade coil/wicks and they showed up yesterday - preinstalled came in at 2.9 ohm so took a spare unwrapped a couple coils and spread the coils a bit and loosened it a tad and took it to 1.5 ohm and works well. I also have some mesh on the way and also I ordered extra wick and kanthal from vapoligy.com 1.99 for 10ft of kanthal and 2.29 for 5 ft silicia wick.

Also these should look beast on my provari's I took to my buddy for powder coating -

And as someone else mentioned I added a extra o-ring to the base to give more play as to adjusting the hole so it can be positioned in the best location for vapor and TH.

I personally like this better than my i06 dca combo or my 306 dca combo as the dca setup holds a good amount of juice but in no way more then the phoenix and no gurgle which is a plus and for all of the people who will say its comparing apples to oranges being that the pheonix is obviously a RA compared to a non RA i06 or 306 Im just speaking in regards to dripping in general - and I was getting tired of atomizers getting stuck in the uppers on the dca's.

Vapercon 2011 was good but 2012 will be better :)

@theken,I also got mine from VB and loaded it with the beta HG cola.I fired my coil b4 adding juice to burn off any oils.Mine is performing very well after finding my position for the cap.I really like the hg cola, how about you?
Also the plastic insulators kind of angered me,the pics on the vb site don't show them.

That's definitely not good...lol.

Did you contact them about it? I'm no expert, but there could be an issue with the insulation. Either that or you tried to vape gasoline at 12 volts lol.

No injuries, right?

E-liquid catches fire pretty easily. I suspect it wouldn't happen with the cap on while drawing through it. At least that's never happened to me!!

Did I receive an authentic Phoenix Rebuildable Atomizer ? It says Phoenix Atomizer on the website I ordered from, whereas I have seen a few sites that say Phoenix Atomizer Type. Anyways, I noticed that that in several reviews, the Phoenix Atomizer has a flat top, whereas mine kinda angles up to where the drip tip is placed. I have only been able to find a few drip tips to fit in mine (Unfortunately none were my favorites). It works well, but I've also noticed that when I tried to adjust the hole placement (Below the screws), the post don't move. In other videos I have reviewed for this atomizer, the device comes in a box, whereas mine only came in a green wrapper (No box). I ordered another one from a different vendor today since they are so inexpensive (Hope this one will fit my drip tip).

its the Phoenix / Bulli atomizer - its the same thing just different design and name with the top being angled.

I know on the phoenix some had to use some sand paper and sand it around the inner lip a bit for easier fit for drip tips - may want to try that -

I added a extra o-ring to the base (unscrew it add a o-ring from another drip tip or what ever and screw the cover on and you should be able to have the ability to position it where you want as it will have more adjustability due to the added o ring and adjust the hole to where it works best for you.

There was a co-op for that style if you check this link (closed now though) http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-rebuildable-atomizers-tbc-1-tbc-2-co-op.html

Hope that helps you some -

I took out the SS wick from my Phoenix last night, and put one of these 3ohm premade coils from Avid Vaper in it:

Rebuildable Atomizer Coils - Avid Vaper

I'm getting better and more consistent TH, Vapor, and flavor than I have with the SS, and almost as much as cotton (cheesecloth). At $1 per coil, it's not a bad deal and you can't really mess it up unless you crimp the wick with the coil on installation.

Just food for thought, in case anyone wants a better coil and wick to use with their Phoenix or don't have the means to build their own.

Well,

I made a SS 400 Mesh wick, took my 34awg Kanthal and wrapped it to 2.6ohms, and it wicks much better.

I have a couple of hot spots that I just barely fixed, but its working.

I don't know though... The vapor still doesn't have that "weight" that I like. It isn't dense enough. Also, flavors aren't pronounced enough either.

I tried unscrewing the top a few turns, which gave slightly better flavor, less TH, and a little more vapor, but this thing still isn't a stellar performer.

I tried it on my Provari at 4.2v, 4.5v, 4.8v, and 5.2v. So far, anything inbetween 4.8-5.2v is acceptable at the most, but I still feel like I'm vaping air...

I use 18-24mg juice, of which most is 80/20 or 70/30 blended of pg/vg.

HALP.

How fat of an SS wick did you make? Did you use any specific size of mesh before you rolled it up?

I've found using a thicker SS mesh wick by using more mesh, yields far better TH, vapor, and flavor. Also, try get the coil partially above the posts of the Phoenix, this will position the air hole below the coil, giving you a better vape.

Do you best to get rid of hot spots, or try using the rolling paper trick to oxidize the coil:

Wrapping A Genesis Atty Using Rolling Paper - YouTube

Once it's properly oxidized without shorts, it will stop burning the juice and your flavor will be more pronounced.
