My newest build is acting pretty strange. It'll go from 1.3ohms up to 2.0, and I keep getting E2 or E1 errors, even at 3.9v. It vapes great (when it vapes), and I have zero visible shorts/contacts either (checked with a magnifying glass).

Not sure why...my guess is that the mesh isn't oxidized properly. I did it 5 times lol, I guess it can use a few more.

You answered your own question :) it's the mesh really 5 times isn't enough. I burn/quench 10 times then put PG/VG on it and burn it off 5 more times.

Alot of the times you can just take something like a needle and move your coils around and it will slove the problem.

Stainless Steel - Grade 316 - Properties, Fabrication and Applications
All about t316,good read.Surgical implant grade is 316LVM

There are many members on this board that are better able to make these statements, but ill give it a go: Please be aware that implanting a metal in the body and keeping it at a rough 100 degrees F is not the same as heating a metal to the point that a vapor will be produced with the compound sautrated in it.

The Cromium (wiki article Metal fume fever - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) contained in stainless steel can cause sickness. Not to say that you are heating up your wick enough to cause any fumeing, as it is mostly a concern for welders; but you are, on the other hand, taking any and all fumes directly into your lungs as opposed to having it vented out.

I have some SS on order and will be trying it out, but I do plan on researching SS in more depth and keeping an eye on my SS wicks.

Does any of the long time SS users notice any burn or weald marks on their SS or am I being overly worried about this? (The evaporation of the e-juice would most likely keep the metal cool enough for fumes to not be a concerin)

I vape my SS mesh wick non stop pretty much all day untill I go to sleep and it has yet to show any signs of burning/charing and always tastes perfect. I would say it's much more healthier than vaping silica fiberglass wicks.

Is the silica issue not the same if you use a small SS wrap at the coil? Or is it using silica at all that is a possible problem?

I think the silica issue is a slightly over-paranoid issue concerning the risk of potentially breathing in glass fibers. pretty much anybody who has ever used an atomizer as run this risk but in the spirit of maximum safety other wick options have been more and more the mainstream. The good thing is that the other wick options (ss or coton or both) are not only a bit less risky but tend to taste and in most cases perform waaaay better. hooray, win/win:thumbs:

either way, having any amount of silica wick, by itself or hybrid with SS runs the chance.

Optimo, thanks for checking it out. Got my package in mail yesterday and had to check the Phoenix out. It produced a great vape out of the package and produced what I assume is a nice flavor. I am using english toffee and after vaping it with 2 different setups have decided it "aint that great". It tasted way better than when I vaped it through my v3 stardust though. This weekend I will roll a SS wick and hope for the best.

It's the factory wick/coil that's ruining the experience for you.
