Thats about the simplest way I have heard it put. Well said Rose.

The problem with the "damn the torpedos" attitude is that it is much the same mindset as "a closed mouth don't get fed". A lot of people are going to perceive you as pushy, selfish, and unwilling to engage in productive communication (the kind where you make your point understood, actually listen to the other person's point, and compromise and/or change your stance on an issue when warranted).
I get what you're saying about not getting the word out if you're hiding in the shadows. That's not what I'm saying though. An intelligent person who is a good communicator can get the word out without stepping on anyone's toes. If you pay attention people let you know how to get what you need from them. You can't pay attention when you're dead set on bending people to your will.
.... And that ban's to vaping, that are surfacing, is mearly missinformation sread by the big bad pharma and big tobacco. Yet we do not acknowledge our own part in the issue. If people werent being so obstinant, if we didnt make people feel like we were being intrusive, if we dont vape where people are not allowed to smoke... there would be no need for people to even care about the PV's let alone start legislation to ban them. Public opinion has a big role to play here.
So why make your life more difficult?

I happened to have asked my wife, herself a "smoke nazi" (and I love her dearly), how many people she's seen in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills/Glendale...wherever, vaping.
One. Count 'em, ONE person she's seen vaping, in the six months since I started to vap.
If you have to think if it is acceptable or not, it probably isn't. I dont smoke in businesses/restaurants/gas stations etc etc because I feel it is attention seeking. It screams LOOK AT ME IM VAPING NICOTINE, I HOPE YOU ASK ME WHAT THE HELL I AM DOING SO I CAN GO INTO MY WELL PREPARED SPEECH. Besides, since i started vaping my cravings have gone down so much that I never feel that I need nicotine (and im vaping 36mg).
Thats the best news in this thread yet. Sounds like most people vaping in your area are smart enough to realize they don't need to do it in public. I have been vaping 9 months and I have never seen anyone in my area, and I get out a lot.

Probably the strangest comment I've read in this thread so far.![]()

I fear the more vaping is done in public places to make a statement, the more we are shooting ourselves in the foot. As we all know by now, the anti's don't care about all the great things they do for us, and the more they see folks vaping in places we can't smoke the more ...... and aggressive they'll get on trying to stop us from doing it at all. Although vaping is much less harmful, if not harmless to others around us, it can still be very annoying or distracting to folks and disrespectful. If you really can't go two hours during a movie, or or go out to eat without your nic fix, then go to the bathroom and do it in privacy and don't stir the pot. We are treading on thin ice as they say, and I just don't think we should be jumping up and down on it!

Right on. I am guessing most of the people who are adamant about doing it until told to shut it down are overparented, entitled Gen Y'ers. Not saying all Gen Y-ers are like that, but a lot of the people I work with are. No one ever told these kids you gotta keep your head down, work hard and wait your turn. They think they are the center of the universe and no one's ever put a foot up their @$$ yet to let them know they aren't. That's my generational rant![]()
Well, to each his own; whatever blows your hair back. I still like to pretend that we do live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Odd ... we are of the same generation and again I wholeheartedly disagree.
