Hello
I have a wired MTL issue that is happening to me for 7 years, please help me if you can, i would be really really thankful.
First, every thing is the same, the wire i use, the wick, the wraps, the diameter, the liquid, the mod and the tank
I make MTL builds which is ordinary, nothing special with it, BUT, every 10 or 20 builds, without knowing the reason or the secret i make that build that's really magical, the MTL hit that i want,it's like a refreshing hit that makes the world beautiful again, and after the coil expires ( 7 to 12 days of intensive using ), i don't know the reason how to make the same again ?! , as i said every thing i use is the same, but the only repetitive sign of that coil is when i change the wick after a day of using, i find the wick already cut to half from the center of the coil !!, if you an MTL vapor and you have experienced the same or you were able to solve the puzzle and know the secret, please help
Thanks for the long time to read my problem.

@mordac
Thanks for your reply,
I use kanthal 26g normal standard coils
And cotton sheets for wicking
For the tank, the same happened for all of the tanks i used ( merlin mini mtl base, siren, all of the berserker editions )
I have tried ni80 and vandy vape superfine fused coils, and the same happened the good build comes once in 20 builds ( but those didn't cut the wick for a half as the kanthal 26 )

And for more explanation
The good build is giving a hit that refreshes you, a dry and strong hit ( the other builds make me feel like it's kind of a boiling water vapour), i think the one who tried it will never forget it, he will be upset for all the liquid he consumed without that build.
Thanks

It could be different in the height of the coil from the build deck, perhaps as little as a mm or so. You want to place the coil just above the air flow inlet. Also, is there a particular reason you are changing your coils so often? You should be able to get months out of a well built coil. Just dry burn it for a few seconds when you change the wick and then brush off the residue with a wire brush.

When i change the wick, a pull it from one side, i find it only a half, the coil has cut it to 2 pieces through a day of using.
Sounds like too much wick and too much power. (second call for a photo)

I suspect the above is full of useful information for you. Not so much for us....

    Cheers

I'm very careful about the height of the coil, i make it the same as much as i can.
After a week or 2 of using i find the coil starts to be weak and now as it was at the beginning, and i vape so much also, so i regularly change it like that
And also i always dry burn the coils pretty carefully when changing the wick.
    Thanks.

I have some notes through my vaping experience, i want to share it so you may find something wrong in my builds,
1- wrapping the coil as you are a machine, no spaces, no hard pulling, don't cause any harm the coil's shape, make it looks perfect
2- dry burn the coil for the first time and for changing wick at the lowest power possible and wait for it to heat slowly and raise the power regularly and burn again ( i start at 5W and make 7W and finally at 11W ), if i burn it at 20 or 30W most of the time it's unusable
3- place the coil at a normal height from the base, this can't be exactly described or measured, you get it by building
    4- ( I'm so suspicious about this point )
I tighten the screws a bit after i find the first resistance, i tried to tighten it hard or to the maximum possible point and the result was bad, i want to know how hard you tighten your screws ??
5- nothing about the wicking, we all now what the result of more or less cotton in the wick, it's very straightforward.
    Thanks

I use berserker 2 MTL RTA
    Kanthal 26g
    10 wraps on 2.5mm
    And regular cotton sheet
    12mg MTL tobacco liquid
I tried to upload a photo but the website said it's too large
    That's all.

I've never had that happen before. Does the end of the wick that was "cut" look burned?

Why are you replacing the wick after one day?

Are you vaping NET juices (naturally extracted tobacco)?

What kind of juice(s) are you using?

My wicks last 15 days with flavored DIY juices and one month with flavorless. When I remove a wick it is never burnt or blackened from the coil.

i find the wick already cut to half from the center of the coil

I'm not understanding what you mean. Please explain.

When you say your wick is cut in half is your wick fried/burnt when you pull it?

It would be very helpful if you posted a couple photos.

Wicking any RBA is a total "feel" thing. Once you know the "feel" of a good fitting wick in a coil you can reproduce that every single time.

Rule of Thumb with Wicking: Too little = gurgling/flooding. Too much = dry hits/muted flavor.

Ideally you want a cotton wick to be tight fitting within a coil when moving the wick side-to-side. But NOT too tight. The wick should move side-to-side within a coil while feeling some friction. And absolutely, not loose fitting within a coil. Again, it's a "feel" thing.

If using rayon for wicking, you need to use ~30% more density versus cotton. That's because rayon contracts (cotton expands).
As noted in both rayon threads, you want a rayon wick to fit tightly (not too tight). You should hear some squeaking as you pull rayon through a coil.

I switch off between using cotton and rayon in all my RBA's.

    @Mordacai thanks for your reply
I don't think it's the wick at all
If the build was well for the first wick i will continue the same even i change the wick every day.

I didn't take a photo when that happened
And i don't know how to remake the same coil which makes that
But simply you pull a side of the wick from the coil you find it been cut from inside the coil and looks black at the cutting point.
