So..I just checked the last map route for Nashville with my thumb and middle finger and i think that the people coming from all directions would mostly have a shorter trip, except the ones in Fl. Seems more fair to the ones that are farthest away, timewise and financially.

I've also decided that I'm going to have to fly there, or wherever ,as driving/riding for such a long time is very hard on my old body and I wouldn't be worth a hoot once I got there.Trust me, you don't want to be around me when I'm sleepless and in pain and all grumpy. And from past experiences , it takes me at least couple of days to recuperate.

I'm thinking Vegas baby!! Cheap, cheap, cheap!

That I know of there is no "cheap" in Vegas, The days of the $2.00 breakfast and the $5.00 steak dinner are over because Vegas is now a "destination" resort town.

Maybe we need to just choose 1 and do the other one in the fall or the following Spring? They don't have to be at the same time.
Hopefully this will become an annual thing......so Florida may still be an option at some point. As far as places, I do love me some blues, but am never happier than when I have my toes in the sand watching waves roll in.....but I'm not going for scenery or sight seeing, (although I'm not opposed to those things) I wanna see my family and spend time talkin face to face. I can't squeeze no one in the hangout!!

Kenna, I don't think we could get Yiddle within a 100 miles of Vegas!!

I know this is none of my business BUT about 20 miles south of Memphis is Tunica, MS which is casino wonderland for that part of the country. There's lots of them and they always have some performers either on the way up or on the way down in their careers so that makes for good entertainment. I always used to stop over in Memphis on the way to Biloxi at Thanksgiving.

Yep, being that Memphis is pretty much one of my Homes Away From Home, I've visited Tunica since about the beginning .. you have to drive thru to get to Clarksdale, MS and points south like Yazoo City .. I could tell a story or two but this is really not the story thread .. if you gamble at some of the Casino's like Sam's Town, drinks are still on the house .. it's easy to get free food, in many cases just by signing up for a Players Card .. and Friday and Saturday nights, there are plenty of bands to sit and listen too in many of the Casino's ..

Highway 61 .. oh, yeah

So, the thing is in Memphis now???? Did I miss something?

Debra,

At this point, there is NO final destination agreed upon. Willie has tried to emphasize this point and is more than open to da porchers inputs.

A lil' while ago, I got to thinkin' 'bout how we could maximize attendance to our 'porch gathering'. Thankfully, Willie dropped in da HO and we all there had a lil' discussion. Da general consensus was dat if anyone was to 'commit', it wouldn't be just for da convenience of we folk dat live down here, or those wishing to just for a 'drive by'.

Please remember that wherever we gather, Willie will, most likely, have da longest 'joy ride' regardless, due to his willingness to make this happen. I'm willing to 'contribute' as much as anyone else that wants this to happen.

Keep in mind, I'm not speaking for Willie, nor anyone else. But just in the spirit of our 'family spirit', ya'll got let everyone else know what ya think, if you're interested.

As for those that may not agree with fellow porchers, I'll day-um near guarantee dat it'll be da most fun you'll have with your clothes on!

BTW, gonna post this on both porches fer max exposure...

Got a question for our resident Cajuns.. I'm watching a show on one of the cooking channels and he is making a gumbo with alligator. Always saying "tastes like chicken." If that's true then, why the Hell don't you just eat chicken? (Running away quickly).:)

$535 per night, minimum 3 nights

5 -bedrooms, 6 beds, 2 king, 2 queen & 2 double/full beds, sleeps up to 12 guest comfortably in beds, you may request our portable beds for up to 2 additional guests. for a
total of 14 guests maximum.

5 bedroom lake home on private estate, sleeps... - VRBO

I'm thinking regardless of the destination ... finding suitable accommodations for 14 (that's how many have signed the list so far) people is going to be the 'tricky' part. This place would sleep 14 ... but if it matters ... there's going to be multiple people in some rooms.

Perhaps we have to look around at both Memphis and FL to see what kind of places we can find for the numbers we're talking about. Maybe finding a suitable house/condo/camp ground will help make the decision on the destination.

Have you never had Gator? Delicious! I've had gator tail as an appetizer at cajun restaurants. They pound the daylights out of it to break it down some so it's not too tough to be chewed. Their tails are all meat, but strong muscles! Now my mouth is watering.
