Must be my crappy photography...but I did give cap and DT the scratch test, it's copper

What is that I am seeing through the top of the cap then? It is shiny like SS? In this pic...

I hear you...it's a wide mouth DT, then it bevels in...it's the reflection off the bevel that makes it look like SS

Ok... I thought that was the neck of the top cap itself... Just had cataract surgery and the eyes are still trying their best, but still not quite there...

Anyone have an authentic & a clone? I'm on the list for an authentic, just wondering if the clone top caps will work on the authentic. (I want one of each color!)

I now do and though it probably depends on which clone you get, my caps are not interchangeable...although they both have an outer dimension of 22mm, the clone's inner SS AFC ring is larger than the authentic's.

One of my local B&Ms just got in the clone Derringer. Since I have been unable to get an authentic I picked one up. Amazing. Home Run. Best rda, especially with Nickle Ni200 for my DNA40. Can't say enough good things about my experience with this. If this is my experience of the clone. CAN the authentic be any better and in what ways? It is hard to imagine how. But I am a happy, very happy, camper.

This was my first atty with an allen key and it's now my favorite post design....just don't lose it!

Oh and, welcome back to ECF sloth! :)

The Authentic uses a .050 allen which is the smallest allen in most SAE sets. The next one down (.035) is the hard one to find used on almost every 14mm atty. Don't bother trying to change the screws to something with a head. The top cap will hit them and not allow it to go all the way down as well as increasing the likelihood of a short to the drip tip at the positive screw. Ask me how I know the tolerances are extremely tight on the Derringer....

I picked up a clone from a local B & M and I gotta say that this thing is pretty awesome! The flavor and vapor are really intense with a single 26 gauge 8 wraps. The one thing I don't like is how it's a bit leaky. Not sure if it's just a clone issue but juice will seep out of any crevice it can find whenever I take off the top cap/sleeve. I just take off the drip tip to reload. Problem solved :)

just got an original derringer converted by catfish. first time I looked at it I lost one of the little grub screws so I made new phillips screws, put a pair of coils in it. vapes great. squonks awesome, airflow is insane, chambers nice and tight. def a sick atty. only thing that sucks is what I kinda figured since I first seen it, the cap is not that snug, not gonna be an ideal knocking around in a pocket atty, turns if you touch it wrong and pops off too easily. aside from that I love it :) I'm going to try to tighten up the o-ring a bit with a few wraps of thread behind it, should def help tighten it up a bit.

it vapes a lot like my favorite 22mm atty, the quazar and astron by cosmic inovations, only it's much less mass and height.

here's my build
