To me tibby, I want it simple. The "Everyone is eligible if they have a welcome thread" seems simple. Although there are some complications with that when you think about it:

A) What about someone that gets a welcome thread but is not an eligible 2012 pre-vet? So now we have to police all welcome threads started by anyone in the welcome sub-form. It creates constant work. The PVT process does that automatically. If you remove the PVT requirement, you have to duplicate that verification process in the contest entry thread....since it all bypassed PVT.
B) Putting restrictions on the Grand Prize is where the confusion comes in. If the G.P. entry requirement is different from the monthly requirement... that MAY be a problem.

that's why i said we got to be careful ....... and the thread has to be opened before they turn vet as jj states

as to grand prize - one more time

my utmost concerns

postponing a turning because of time restrictions on the prevet's or committee's side atm takes away the eligibility for the grand prize. that, imo, should go ......
attending the turning at the proper listed time is still a must. the team is there for the prevet waiting.
also, if somebody asks for a welcome thread and then finds the time after all to be with us during his/her turning should be eligible for the grand prize drawing after all.

so, one last chime in....

I don't feel comfortable commenting on specific wording til we have agreement on what we want.

My opinion is that the reward of hanging out in pvt is meeting new people and celebrating. I think the turnees enjoy it on it's own merits. If it's not fun, and not sustainable on it's own merits then it can fade away. I've said this elsewhere before, but to me the two-tiered system, or even a PVT requirement feels like paying someone to play with us (and even as a kid i never enjoyed having to pay people to be my friend ;) ) . That said, i do hear the concerns about having committee members there for a now-show turning, and i know it's been a problem. I don't really know the answer.

(ETA: wow i missed a bunch while i was typing....all valid concerns, especially the policing part- though there have only been 5-10 non-pvt or self-started welcome threads.)

Good post CES.

Also, no matter what we do Tibby, anytime we put this kind of stuff in

we have timing issues (like Loveridden being late, or someone can't make it).

once the prevet and committee have agreed on a time i think a timely attendance should be a must

not to interupt your flow of thinking or anything, but I am trying to understand more so that I may be of more help. With the way it is now.... is Loveridden eligable for the contest?

morri... that was my question too. However, we've tabled it... since we can clarify the rules... we can table that disucssion (because if we change the wording/approach... it may answer your question after we're done).

We have been disqualifying them if they are late. I was pointing out that she may still qualify according to "the rules" as published. But since we are adjusting the wording...let's wait and see. The consensus seems to be she should qualify.

I know threads will be started outside of the Welcome thread sub forum, but it would be nice to suggest to all they be started in the sub forum.

When?
..........
I'm trying to leave the past in the past and this brings up history so please leave it in the past. TY :)
