KK Tibs, regarding number 2, I did not mean I could open a thread in the special vet area.....just that I could open a thread. I am still having trouble understanding the concept and it's interactions.....opening the thread.

hugs
morri

and I am going to find your main concerns now and read em up. ;)

we are only talking about the eligibility of welcome threads opened in the proper area of vip no other places

attention - all available spots on the committee have been filled by morri! 1, 2, 3, 4 ........

She has my vote. She handled last night's turning like a pro.

Tibs, we can retire now and just enjoy the fireworks!!! Let the young ones take over--it's time.

From a contest perspective I agree with a few other posts. You really can't have it both ways. Either someone has to show up at such and such a time for a welcoming party, and PVT welcoming people need to be there, or not. Coming up with lists of exclusions is at best problematic (overly complex), and you are unlikely to come up with a reasonably comprehensive set, agreed upon, in a decent amount of time (before the heat death of the universe :) ). Coming up with a "fix" that requires the PV to show, maybe at least post an "I was here" really seems like a "meh" option, certainly against the spirit of a social group function -- either there are people there enjoying themselves, or not, you really can't force fun.

As a social group, PVT is indeed flexible. When a contest function is added, however, you need to have clear rules that are consistently applied. Anything saying that a PV must be somewhere because welcoming committee will be there instantly tosses you back into what appeared to be a problem (members messing themselves up over having to be at welcoming parties, PV having their own real-world commitments too).

Requiring an entry, a welcoming thread, and the PV then posting in the thread after crossing over = simple. Anything forcing the attendance at parties really should probably be an extra, a nice-to-but-not-forced-to. I doubt anyone really wants to cause heartburn to either the PV or welcoming people -- that's the opposite of fun.

(I'm not an active member here, but active in ECF overall, I care about anything that helps ECF be a better place for members. PVT is a good thing, and the contest is a good thing, just need to have them play nice together, something workable that doesn't end up causing more angst.)

Yes, Ma'am. Roger that.

Very productive morning, It's been fun, Dear Committee!

Now I have to do something useful in RW, while Morri drafts the new rules. :)

thanks for your input, mark!
i have no doubt that now we can come to an agreement! ;) we just need to go slow and consider all ramifications.

allowing for the turning to be postponed so both committee and pvt can come together at an agreeable time to watch the title change would be a major step forward! and alleviate all pressure

YES!!!!!!

Those are our new rules--as far as I'm concerned, anyway.

Thanks, Mark!

And now I'm really, really gone!
