yes1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. to get a thread, all that is needed is to ask for one or have an ecf vet start it in the new vets forum prior to turning. (In practice it has always come through PVT. )

No2. avatar party- must request and be present on the PVT thread at the exact time that they joined, any deviations from the original timing results in disqualification from the entry for the grand prize.

Options for what we want

1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. Eligible threads will be in the new vets forum prior to turning. The welcome thread request comes through PVT, in the form of 1 post minimum in PVT
a. choose between 'prior to' turning or 'within 24 hours of' turning
b. choose can or cannot be self-started

2. Options for Avatar parties:

A. Not required for entry into prize drawing

BB. Required for entry into prize drawing, time can be scheduled without penalty
a. choose between must be present on the PVT thread at the time of turning, or must be present within 15 minutes of time of turning
b. choose between exceptions can be made and exceptions cannot be made if circumstances warrant I.e. military service, illness, emergency, internet problems

XC. Anybody with either a welcome thread or avi party who is present at the fireworks is eligible for the grand prize drawing
a. choose between must be present on the PVT thread at the time of turning, or must be present within 15 minutes of time of turning
b. choose between exceptions can be made and exceptions cannot be made if circumstances warrant I.e. military service, illness, emergency, internet problems

Please make changes in and re-post the whole thing as you make edits.....

I've saved this wording, but please mark the location of this post....I've also read back through what got posted as i typed this up...agreed, no formal "poll". I still like the least restrictive option- because I'm lazy, though Tibs could well be right. Good points Catt. Atty I you too)

a. choose between 'prior to' turning or 'within 24 hours of' turning
b. choose can or cannot be self-started but ONLY after obtaining approval in the PVT thread--for those who were not invited but discovered on their own that they had turned vet in 2012

2. Options for Avatar parties:

A. Not required for entry into prize drawing

B. Required for entry into prize drawing, time can be scheduled without penalty

Lavender is my second choice. I can live with that, but with amended rules.

With your permission--in order to keep it simple and ONLY if we can have two end-of-year grand drawings; one grand drawing for everybody who has a welcome thread (#1) and another end-of-year grand drawing for the avatar party participants. However, since we're adding an extra drawing for them, with one prize, they have to present at the turning--at the time set by the forum software or pre-arranged--NO EXCEPTIONS. They have to be there when they actually turn. Period. If they are not present to witness the turning, they don't qualify. I don't feel bad about it because that would be a bonus end-of-year drawing. I don't care if they're having a baby or are stuck in traffic. Pick your time and show up or you don't qualify. KISS.

And that is my vote! :)

I don't fully follow that jj. Could you say it again? I'm confused as to how many options and what thread is what in that post.

I'm having a bad day, I guess. I didn't "speak tibby" well today either.

The goal here was to simplify.

Basically what I suggested was using jOker's idea and let PreVets post an entry in the submission thread the month they turn.
Using this this year created the problem for the past months when it was first brought up. An exception would have to be made because of the change in the contest so everyone from the past would be allowed to enter. This gives everyone a chance to enter the contest once. I'd let the people that participated in PreVet's post another entry this way too.

The people with a Welcome Thread would still be special because they would get two entries.
This would get rid of all the "conditions" of having to this or that which is turning people away because they are just no more.

The two entries would also soften the blow of those who were eligible for the "Special" grand prize which would be just another prize to be given out on Jan. 1.

It simplifies. It will be less of a hassle for you all and for me and for jOker.

I also thought about letting all Vets in.

The people entering the contest this way would have to make a post of some kind. How about saying something about themselves. Posting a picture of something favorite.
This gives you guys some history and people to approach about participating.

Hate it or tweak it but don't make it any more complicated.

And I typed this fast because I should be headed out the door.

Will check back later.

Please read what I wrote after that Tibs. Yes it can.

i still don't see it - you marked ''prior'' for the welcome threads, either started by us or a vet sponsor who stopped by to inform us
i did like that suggestion of yours a lot .......
so, then marking ''can be self-started'' would imply a vet comes to us after the fact, right? that throws ''prior'' out of the window with complications, imo .....

was that what you meant?

so you want them to be able to show up anytime? even though our requirement is prior?

then why bother with ''prior'' if a vet can come in august and tell us he turned in january but missed the boat?
i'm just taken by surprise because that has not come up before and i want to make sure i got it right ..
