CES's summary is more correct for #2 in the "how it works now" part.... at the exact time they joined (365 days later) at the next processing run at 25 past the hour.

I also like the NOW vs NEW breakout. And she's correct about getting the NEW stuff finalized. There is no deliverable without both.

IDC if we want to vote on the NOW part now or not. It's OK to do so. But it's not done until we have both.

(summary of Tibs 1&2)
1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. to get a thread, all that is needed is to ask for one or have an ecf vet start it in the new vets forum prior to turning. The proposed change is that we require it to come through PVT, in the form of 1 post minimum in PVT

2. currently under discussion is whether we retain this: avatar party- must request and be present on the PVT thread at the time of turning, but with flexibility to schedule the turning time without penalty

Edited: yes please, let's vote on the now "new"(as in what we want consensus on) portion first. IMO the wording for how it is currently done is a lesser priority

(I'm not posting again here-probably- until everyone has had a chance to have their say :) ...though editing several times is a distinct possibility)

lol, guys - let's get this on the road. my summary or ces' - doesn't make a bit of difference. let's wait for west coast's input and get going - j0ker is not gonna wait indefinitely! ;)

even if we're only getting the ''now'' part to him explaining why we have a problem with it! ;)

Yes. And all welcome threads are posted in the VIP New Members welcome forum.

Yes, but with reservations. "Flexibility" needs to be clearly defined--rescheduling process needs to be explained (what's the allowed time frame? day? week? month?) and "inconvenient times" (for the PVT members and prevets) should also be mentioned--if the prevet wants to stick to the original time that just happens to be in the middle of the night, said prevet must be warned that it is possible that nobody else will be present to launch the fireworks, however, his/her posts just before and after that turning time still meet the eiligibilty requirement. Please.... :)

Those who are currently serving in the military and can't, but would like to, have an avatar party, should be given more leeway, IMHO. Or become automatically eligible for the grand contest when they request a thread. Just a thought. :)

i swear i'm not going to stay online today! lol

but i believe this has to be included in the notes to j0ker so he'll understand why this imposed rule has created so much tension

this is our problem. people turn at all kinds of hours, day or night. and this rule has put substantial pressures on the team, making us feel obligated to be online for the prevet. it also does not consider a prevet's obligations and circumstances in the rw.

so
#1, welcome in new vets, set up through or acknowledged in PVT, by any vet, prior to turning, link to thread posted in contest thread = monthly entry is ok with everyone so far....

and there are two questions related to #2, avi parties, flexibility?

2a. how far outside of the 'be there for the fireworks' is acceptable... +5 minutes, +30 minutes, +60 minutes, other?

2b. how long can a turning be postponed? 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, other? (2b1. military exemption? how does someone 'prove' military status?)

(you knew i wasn't gonna be able to resist posting)

My vote--- K.I.S.S. --- Keep it Simple Simon. They can reschedule or not. No limits. No need for justifications. No other stuff. If they reschedule they reschedule. I, for one, don't want to play the "your reason is or is not justified" game.

The only thing is... it's the forum software that determines when they turn...with their cooperation. Not up to us. It's up to them and the software. If they log in after their earliest possible turning time... and that's not when they rescheduled...they turn at an unscheduled time... then what?

Although I thought we were talking about the NOW part......

your #1) Sure. Emphasis on Prior to turning. Also, "link to thread posted in contest thread by the new vet after turning"....

2a) I would remove the whole requirement

2b) Good question. Don't know.

3) Of course we all knew you couldn't resist :)

I have no deadline on us resolving these issues. I know most would like to have it "done and over and moving on", but this doesn't have to be settled today, tomorrow, or next week. As long as progress is made, that's all that matters now. No need in stressing ourselves out to the point we want to throw our hands up and walk away. We should have fun planning too....

So take your time and talk it out, it's been like it is for 6 months, it will be ok another month if that's what it takes. All this hashing it out, will make for a more successful contest next year. Not that I'm saying this year wasn't, I think it has evolved in to a get contest and will only get better with time. So don't worry about rushing through and resolving all the issues at once, we have a little time.
