Your wish is my command

Cool! You're doing requests? Now, show me a picture of ME holding an ELA in kicked 18490 mode please. But with the brass accent rings, if it's not too much trouble. Thanks in advance!

Right now I bet jamesd is either relishing the opportunity to show off his new toy, or regretting exposing himself to the shark tank of questions and requests for various poses. :) Which is it, james, relish or regret?

---

On a more serious note, does the firing button have removable brass spacers like the P+? Would you be able to stand your ELA up on end without the battery O-ring if you remove some spacers, or is it already spacer-less?

Well now, I wish I would have gotten some of the brass accent rings. Might be a new order going in soon . . . .

As for your other question, there are no spacers in the button. I'll put up a pic of that too.

Here's a pic with no extra oring and using AW 18490. None of the tube is showing. It will stand up, but will fire while standing up in this config.

it fire's standing up with an 18490... that is not so nice :-(

The Unit should not fire when standing up, locked or unlocked when set up as delivered. I believe the OP mentioned he has changed the configuration of the orings and/or washers and thus has overrided this.

Oh, yeah, I vaguely recall David mentioning something about shaving a couple of millimeters from the top and bottom caps of the ELA. I couldn't tell you where I read that, but the no spacers thing makes sense.

Edit: I just read what David said about washers in the original config. I'm going to stop pretending to be an authority now, but leave the helping to those who have actually used an ELA. You'd think that would be pretty self-evident, right? :)

Actually, it might already be that way. I think the reason that the tube is showing on mine is that I put an extra oring in mine to raise the battery a bit. That makes the switch throw longer so that I can stand the device on the "horns" at the bottom. I don't know if David recommends this, I was just kind of experimenting to see whether I could get it to stand up, as that's how I usually have my devices on my desk. I'm also using a button top Efest battery, which I believe are longer than the AW batteries. I'm guessing that with an AW and no extra oring, you probably wouldn't see any of the center tube.

You should be able to stand it up on the horns without changing anything and without it firing, locked or unlocked as delivered. I've been testing each one as they go out the door to confirm they don't fire when standing up.

The unit is set up with one preinstalled oring in the bottom of the battery chamber and no washers on the switch. The throw is a bit shorter then on the PrecisePlus(which most prefer a bit shorter ). I recommend to all customers they run it this way. No adjustments should need to be made to the orings or switch post in most circumstances.

I can confirm that. Mine does not fire standing up as it came configured.

Thxs David for the clarification and confirmation!

PS: Can you confirm that it won't fire while standing up in the unlocked position with a RBA on top and a full tank of juice (+/- 3ml)?

I should mention that i test them standing up with AW IMR batteries which have pretty much flat bottom, i do suppose different brands of batteries could not be as flat on the bottom and make it fire earlier. Easy fix would be to run a .100 thick oring in the bottom of the tube under the battery rather then the preinstalled .070 thick. I'll find the oring part number for those who encounter this and need it.

David, I'm sure you are correct. Yes, I started fiddling around with it as soon as I got it - it is my nature, unfortunately. I didn't try it before putting that other oring in there, so I probably threw it off somewhere. I will fiddle around with it some more and get it back to its original configuration. For some reason, I can't stop taking it apart and gawking at all the bits and pieces. It's an amazing piece of work.

Weight has nothing to do with it as it compresses the switch in and sits on the horns, even in its lightest configuration with an IMR 18350. The button needs to depress just past flush to fire so you can put all the weight you want on top of it:)
