Those are the situations that make me nervous ordering from abroad and from pre-orders of new items. First if you do have a problem that means sending the device back and the shipping is rarely covered on their end. Second if they are fairly new, even if they have made successful products before doesn't mean that the new item will be made as well.

Then sometimes they get a bit over their head and the demand gets overwhelming and they cant keep up. Maybe they rush thru or QC lacks. THey might be great about making it right, but again, the wait.

Ive seen many of the Pinoy PVs that are made well, but Ive seen many posters say they come in with burrs on the threading, or bad threading, nicks and scratches etc. The shipping from the Philippines is VERY expensive. Many just keep the item and end up selling it or spending more money and time refinishing it.

With Super-T I saw the post and saw the 6-8 weeks estimate and doubled it and was still prepared for it to take longer. BUT and this is a big ...., I knew of SUper-T rep, I knew they were in the US. I knew they were around for many years. I see they are actively on this forum. I know first hand from previous orders, and before the got themselves knee deep in their own manufacturing, they answered emails right away.

I understand all of you alls frustration. Heck I waited a bit over 6 months for my ELA to get here. But I knew what I signed up for. Many might never have ordered something on pre-order and didnt know the reality of the wait time. But if you check in here David has been constantly reassuring us . Yes, sometimes the ETAs have not been spot on, but he is an honest , dedicated, perfectionist.

Hold on, try to take deep breaths, and remember if you are that upset and dont feel anything has not been dealt with properly he has stated many times that he will issue a refund. He issues refunds faster than most places BTW.

I just dont want people to finally get theirs and because they have so many high end APVs they feel disappointed when they get it. For some of us this is the first device of this caliber so it does feel night and day. For some that already have some of the best of the best it might not blow you away. But it should not disappoint. At that stage, the things that might impress you is the finish, the design of the center pin and the locking ring, but as far as performance it might not be better but it will be at least just as good.

The only thing that some might sell theirs off for would be button placement preferences or they might not think its as beautiful or have enough engravings or have a serial number. FOr those reasons, I love ELA, I dont like engravings or logos on my device.

And after all whatever you decide to do, at least if you do sell it or trade it, you wont lose money.

Almost forgot, I did in no way mean to state that all MODs from overseas are a gamble, there are many European and Asian mods that are top notch. MWM , Axioman....., GG, GP and many others are amazing devices and the MOdders are outstanding in their service.

WOW, that is a nightmare, did you order one? I hope not, and if you did, Im so sorry:(

No I didn't. Thank goodness. It was kinda expensive I thought, and the atty that its built on is almost a clone of the Cobra. Not knocking the Cobra, I have one in daily rotation, and its a fine atty, but thats why I passed on it. It's to much like something I already have.

I really feel those folks. Everyone that thinks they have it rough here in ELA land needs to read that mess so that they can feel lucky. It made me feel that way.

Being patient is tough, especially when waiting for something as awesome as an ELA...but hopefully my pics will distract everyone from today's frustrated rants. They're definitely not my best pics, but I still wanted to show everyone the results of my patination experiment. I was initially going for a semi-gloss gray/black, but during the process I started to fall in love with the antique gold/brown look. I allowed it to get fairly dark, and then I carefully removed some of the surface to give it a brushed look. I intentionally left the grooves of the bottom accent dark to give it some contrast. I put a few thin layers of varnish to hold the patina....for now. I may bring it back to the original brass so that I can play around with a few different patinas. So here she is topped with a brushed Ithaka with clear mid mode tank.

WOW, Path, that looks so beautiful. Im waiting for my brass bits. Im splitting them with someone so I will only have the bottom brass ring.
Now let me get this straight, you let your brass age, and when you found the right patina you then varnished it? What with, may I ask? I like the depth the deep lines give it. Beautiful, give it a nice vintage look. Love it.

My ELA only arrived last night. What I did was to accelerate the patina using a combination of different chemicals. The process only took about 30min. The varnish was just a can of spray lacquer (gloss) from my local hardware store.

thank you , Ive seen those chemicals at the craft stores. I was wondering how long you had it to get the patina, but now I know. I have a stainless and brass tip I got for when I get my brass bits and its been sitting in a special little box I keep my tips in and its been a couple weeks and it has not changed colour. I hope its not coated like a lot of brass is. I do keep those little bags of silica to absorb humity in there, maybe thats why its not developing a patina.

Years ago clear coating Brass became quite popular so it would not tarnish, but unfortunately that coating ends up peeling after a while and its impossible to clean unless you had the whole item buffed off and then you would lose a lot of the antique value.

I like a bit of tarnish, especially on old sterling items, such as silver creamers and such. I love when it goes to that dark bluish/ purple tones naturally. People always say those are great pieces but you need to polish them, I smile and tell them, why? they are finally perfect:)

BTW, those photos are amazing Path

Thanks ana! I didn't use chemicals from a craft store though so I don't know if you can achieve the same type of patina with that. I raided the chemical cabinet at my lab to see what would work based on the patina recipes I found on a metal art website. WARNING: Please do not play with chemicals if you don't know what you're doing. With that said, my final solution ended up being a hot immersion (90 deg C) of ferric chloride, sodium nitrate, ferric ammonium sulfate, sodium thiosulfate, and deionized water.

Kayfun is hands down the best RBA atty I have ever owned. At $100 bucks give or take a dollar or two, the Kayfun lite is worth every penny. Just got one today. I knew I was picking it up from the post office, so brought a wick and a screwdriver and set it up in the parking lot lol fantastic vape on top of my ELA!

I only recognize two of the items listed... Ferric chloride and demonized water. I've got to give it to you. You've got big brass ones letting ferric chloride anywhere near those parts. I've seen how quickly it strips copper from printed circuit boards. You obviously know what you're doing, the results speak for themselves. Absolutely beautiful!

Lol, but I definitely won't be immersing my "brass ones" in any of those chemicals. My employees use some pretty hardcore chemicals on a daily basis for my diagnostic stains, but they're definitely dangerous if not used properly.
