I really love Ekowool, havent tried it with cotton inside. It seems to be wonderful as is. I use the 2mm hollow with the 1mm as the topper piece on my Odysseus V2. Its really durable wick, even more so than the german silica I was sold on. As far as taste and wicking ability they are the same, but the durability and not having to torch it is a plus. I still boil it a couple times for about 15 mins. Its good stuff.

I think its the same wicking material that Svoemestro sells/ sold for the kayfun.

A piece of string walks into a bar. The bartender says "We don't serve string here. Get out."

The string goes outside, ties himself into a knot and scuffs himself up against the brick wall. He goes back into the bar.

Bartender says, "Hey, aren't you that piece of string I just kicked out a few minutes ago?"

String says, "No, I'm a frayed knot."

Wrap coil on a drillbit/nail/whatever, mount the coil, pull the ekowool through. Making a clean cut (nail clippers) and moistening the end helps it not fray as you try to get it into the coil; or you can use a bit of tape then cut the taped end off once its through. The diameter of the coil should be big enough to get the ekowool through but small enough that it drags a little. Another benefit is that it's easy to pull the wick, dry burn the coil, then feed in a brand new wick (or the old one, for that matter).

Thanks, lctrc. I guess this is the best/only way.

Ekowool is all I use. There is much information on it on ECF. I have used 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 in the Kayfun and find that 2.0 is the best wicking for me and fits in the evac chamber the best. The less eko the better. Eko is measured by inside diameter as it is hollow from 2.0 and up.

A few pics of my wick for your dancing aand dining pleasure.

Tails pulled to size loops perfectly and tails cut. Lays down perfect flat sides over juice well

From the Kayfun Lite thread, I think Idaholandho nailed it here as one way to go.

Yeah, pretty slick - looks like the perfect setup for a KF!
It is and it wicks great! I do a 5/4 wrap of 30g kanthal on 2mm ekowool and I come out 1.4 - 1.7 ohm pretty consistently..

Another awesome setup is a VPX Tank with a Atmistique Diver!

Ya it will be on my Roller though as I don't have the ELA yet..

I will post it up as soon as I get home but out of respect for David I won't post the Roller here.. I will slap it up in the mega photo of devices thread and shoot you a PM with a link to it..

I also just picked up a Grail for the Diver from Vaperev..

I recently gave in and tried a few feet of ekowool and can't really see what the hype is. It's flimsy and easy to over-tighten. Like ana says, taste and wicking seems the same as good German silica. It definitely frays more but is much more durable. Any tips on how to prevent constricting a coil?

I think most people when they get something new or something new on the market they sometimes, tend to get a bit overzealous and make statements that makes one feel like its going to change your vape life as we know it. Like its the answer to all and every problem vape related.

Then when the average person gets it, we dont "get it" Like I stated, its not a huge difference compared to the high quality silica I was using, blah blah blah.

The way I keep from over tight wraps is I wet the wick, let it expand and then wrap. It is much softer than reg silica which is why "they" say is better for you. Being softer, again, "they say" it doesnt shed bits of silica which "might" be harmful if inhaled.

Now that the price and availability is better, I think I will stay with it. It just lasts longer thru all my use and cleaning than the german silica I was using.

anavidfan- i just received my order of "ready wires" from stormys.. cant wait to use them in my term-c.. they look pretty good so far.. pack of 50 for $8.. i know ur good at twising em,, but i had so much of a hard time.. my knots ended up being huge..
