Then Scubadatdan came up with his ingenious Scubagen with its mesh wick. Oh, how I lusted after the Scubagen. But alas, it never came to be. Regardless, I believe Scubadatdan changed the vaping world. The Scubagen with its simple and openly-published design sparked a flood of modders with their garage lathes starting lists for the wave of the future: the Genesis. All of a sudden, rebuildables were becoming mainstream.

Actually the genisis design came from a German modder by the name of Raidy. The Scubgen was based off of Raidy's design. In fact the 1st introduction of the genisis concept to the ECF can be found in this thread... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/132663-all-my-mods-part1.html

Not to take anything away from Dan, he has made some amazing contributions to the vaping community. Credit for the introduction of the genisis atomizer, however, belongs to Raidy.

Ah, yes. Thanks for refreshing my memory. See whether you agree with the edits I made, please.

Looks good by me. :)

Funny how the "old days" were less than 2 years ago... LOL

I'd also agree that Dan and the ScubaGen did play a major role in making the genisis atomizer as popular as it is today.

Indeed. But there are days even older than ours. I knew how lucky I was to start out on an eGo-T. It wasn't long before that that starters either had to vape a feeble cigarette lookalike or a mag lite. Remember blue foam?

In 2010 there was no real kiddie pool for beginners. Now, new vapers can start on a more satisfying Ego Twist and a Evod or Vivi combo. Such combos are close enough to the size of a cigar that the vapers aren't as intimidated about funny looks out in public. And they can even rebuild the atty head if they're feeling adventurous.

As for dripping - I'll say that no Genesis atomizer or silica rebuildable has tasted quite like a direct dripped atomizer, for me. Not saying it's "better", but I get a different taste, and the vapor "feels" different out of a 510 or 901 atomizer. My favorite e-liquid tastes the best to me out of a high-quality dripping atomizer, versus silica or genesis. I believe it's a combination of the way the coils are wrapped, plus the wicking material, and the airflow.

Some people have qualms about spending 20-25$ on an HH357, and I get that, but there are other alternatives that are almost as good. A plain cisco 510 bridgeless atomizer is almost as good as an HH357, in my opinion.

On top of that, I don't get the whole disposable argument either - people spend tons of money on "disposable" e-liquid, flavor of the month rebuildables, premium drip tips for 30-50$, an ever revolving door of latest and greatest PV's, but somehow $20-25 isn't a well spent investment for 2-3 months? You can easily spend that much on a movie, or a crappy meal at a fast food place for 2 people. It's really not outrageous, in my opinion.

LOL... I actually had a thing about blue foam typed out in my last post and deleted it. I got into vaping toward the end of the two piece cartridge/atty designs and went straight into cartos. I did, however, successfully blue foam an 808-D carto... It just didn't work very well.

I started off with V2 cig-a-likes and I'll still give them full credit for getting me off the stinkies. It took me a month to find the eGos in a local vape shop and the following Christmas I got the original LavaTube... The rest is history.

Blue foam... times have definitely changed for the better. When I tried vaping the first time, the original ego had just been introduced and were the shiznit. Vape reviews were mostly "how many drops I can get in this cartridge?" Then someone started posting about saving money by replacing cartridge foam with aquarium foam. I thought "...? Er, no." And went back to smoking for a couple years. Coming back around to vaping was like one of those movies where someone is frozen for a few millennia.

Just last weekend I was cleaning out my closet and under my bed and came across a wad of blue foam. Luckily I got in to vaping around the time, and I may be wrong here, that drip tips were just becoming readily available. I couldn't stand refilling carts, and they never seemed to work as well refilled as they did fresh out of the wrapper, so I bought my first drip tip, SuperT contour, and dripped for about two years.

Cisco's Aero was one of my all time top faves.... designed like the HH357, but mass produced, and half the price... imo it is more consistent (less finicky). Came in only 1.5 ohms but it is a smooth vape not hot or harsh.

I tried one once, and it immediately shorted out on my PV. I think I just got unlucky. I actually just finally picked up another one to try out in my AMP tank and it showed up earlier today.

I'm still not sold on a almost $25 dollar atty when I can buy 3 Phoenix V4 RDA's and enough wick and wire to last me a year for around the same price.

ah there it is... agreed, but you use way more juice!.... being facetious because even though, you get much better flavor with these RDA's too.
I was on HH357, Aero and "shi fu spec" Vapage attys for a year before I went back to Gen's and now RDAs... no comparison.

Dangers of very low resistance vaping aside... (disclaimer) it's a quantum leap but takes some learning for sure which I know you know all about Covert...

I was a heavy smoker! I'm spending a bit on this whole vaping thing, but nowhere near what I was spending on smokes. In all honesty, I really don't care what vaping costs me. If it tastes good, is easy, and fires up each time I hit the switch, I am a happy camper. That's what it takes for me to keep off the smokes. My lungs are so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's all good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a happy carto user for a VERY long time. It wan't until I got into DIY juice that I decided that I need something that could be easily washed out and switch flavors. I picked up a couple of Cisco 306's and had a true ... moment. The tase was better, they lasted longer and direct dripping into a drip tip was MUCH easier than pulling that stupid rubber piece out very time I wanted to top off a carto.

I stayed with and was loyal to the 306 atty until I came a cross a thread in the atomizer mods forum where MeatSneakers and BuzzKiller were making attys from scratch using RCA jacks and 808 to 501 adapters. I decided to give it a try and got hooked. I've been making my own atty's ever since.

I did beak down and buy the AGA-T and RSST gust to see if I was missing anything... I wasn't. (Unless, of course, you count lots of extra weight and leaks measured in milliliters instead of drops, as missing something.)

I use to think the same .......until the Kayfun and Taifun hit the market I'm still dripping but those 2 Tanks are the only ones I will ever use
don't get me wrong I still drip but those are the closest I have ever experienced that Taste and TH is equal to drippers.
