Google "patination of brass" and you will find a link that has a bunch of recipes for different colored patinas. It's only on the surface so I can always get it back to the original brass if I want to. I'll probably do that eventually because I really want to try a few of the other recipes. I'm not sure how readily available some of the chemicals are (I run a lab so I already had them at my disposal), but there are solutions that you can buy at art supply stores that should give a similar patina.

The clear Ithaka tank is from Rampage. I've also tried the Kir Fanis clears and the ones that silicawicks used to sell, but the rampage ones fit and looked the best.

Thank you, I think I found the site you talk about. I might have some of the chemicals in my darkroom stash :)

Off to Team Rampage!

You should put the brass outside so it gets that cool green patina

I almost went the blue-green route but I didn't have any of the copper compounds required. It was either cupric sulfate or cupric nitrate...I can't remember. There were even recipes for purples and reds. I went the aged antique look because most juices are tan-brown and matching is kinda my thing.

EDIT: Here is the link to the patination site I used.

the clear tank on Ithaka has both sides the same, hard to describe , but you would need the Ithaka lower tank piece. Here is the Ithaka clear tank part.

LOL, sometimes I can hardly take my tanks apart, its either not burst a vien or light oozing of liquid from the seams. I like well cared for shine, but Im not obsessive about it. It doesn't have to blind me. I love a well loved shine on all things metal. Like a good old S&W revolver or well restored car grill. I do not like an obvious scratch that draws my eye to it like a Hooters waitress's cleavage.

Thats why I love the ELAs polished finish its almost mirror, but not quite. Its not brushed but close. Im going to have an Ody refinished to match polished ELA, then Im sending another Ody to be satinized. I will leave some parts in the Ody OEM finish to use as accents. Im never going to sell these things off so I can do these customizations to my liking as I dont have to worry about losing resale value.

Heck I guess I could have flowers or my little ponies done, ( shudderssssss, ugh ) but I could if I lost my mind.

I'll leave the polished ELA as is UNTIL that fateful day when I put a scratch in it. Then I will buff it out and give it the semichrome makeover. There is no local repair with that polish, either all or nothing as your eye would be drawn to the better finish of the repair vs. surrounding area. In fact, much like looking at the lovely cleavage of a Hooter waitress but distracted by the BBQ stain on her blouse, sometimes you gotta just ditch the blouse!

In this game basically everything mechanical serves the same purpose. Can I get the same vape out of a $25 mod that I can outta a $200 mod ? The answer from me anyway would be a yes, but that is where the similarities stop and we start getting into the brass tacks of build quality, materials, etc. Just as you pointed out anavidfan our vapes are only as good as the coil that WE build, and the battery that powers it. Much like photo equipment is only as good as the photographer/developer the same can be said about a vast majority of vape gear.....

Agree 100%, just like with watches - you can buy a Timex or a Rolex, they both keep good time. If your Rolex is a mechanical/self-winder, then the Timex keeps better time! Me, I own a self-winder Breitling to separate myself from the Rolex crowd ...

Edit: which would be consistent with odering an ELA :)

I agree.. The more I look at the polished, the more I like it! Plus it will match up nicely with my Immo and KF Lite.

Now I just need an ELA.. Oh the wait...

My problem is not the wait, if I can place an order I know at least I will eventually get it. It's finding the damn thing to buy, I've been pounding the web looking for a fogatti t22 and nada. Can't even find out when the next run will be, very frustrating.

Update: I've been using my ELA for a few days now and the more I use it the more I'm enjoying it. It just works, batteries are easy to change out, the adjustable 510 connection ensures all my atties are flush and the button works so nicely. And changing things up are as simple as changing the accent rings. My favourite battery size has become 18490 as the accent ring fits perfectly and it just looks right!
