Yeah, puff, you talked me into it with the whole 4 out of 5 Jedi masters prefer simichrome. Found it on Ebay for a few cents cheaper and free u.s. shipping. It's a lot more reasonable than sharkhide.

Now. What's the easiest way to get grime out of the knurling? Toothbrush? My knurled ring isn't grimey yet but I imagine it will be sooner or later.

Glad you're going to give it a shot, I'm sure you'll be impressed. Tip, a little dab will do ya, apply and rub in just a bit, let it sit for a minute and then wipe off. Watch this vid Simichrome Metal Polish - YouTube

Continued rubbing and wiping will remove micro scratches, and you can get a pristine scratch-free finish with enough elbow grease. Toothbrush on the knurling sounds good to me, that's what I would use.

Hmmmm, dishwasher safe, I would have to say, yes. I mean its not electronic so there is nothing to fry. I would say it might even be a good idea actually. You could place it in a special basket in pieces and it would really clean it out.

Now, I guess you might end up with some sort of film if you used the wrong dishwasher soap.

The best way I have found to clean steel parts is to completely disassemble, soak in a diluted Simple Green solution, agitate and/or use a toothbrush on stubborn bits, rinse with water, and bake in the oven on a very low setting (10-15 minutes) to make sure all the water is evaporated. This way you minimize dwell time (amount of time water is allowed to stand on the metal) and any possible corrosion.
I clean my firearms this way as well (oh no! More gun talk ).

I would be hesitant to put a mod in the dishwasher. Ymmv...

I generally just wash em up with dish soap and water, rinse them off real good and let them air dry overnight while I am a snoozin..

Speaking of snoozin, that sounds like the thing to do about now..

It's been more than 90 days since I ordered my ELA. I've been marooned in this inconvenient land of static hybrids and unimaginative single sized battery mods. The ELA drought continues. My kayfun LITE sits in silence awaiting its true pairing. My AC9 sit atop a mod upon which it fits akwardly. My only source of comfort is my P+ firing Roar's Amnesia in my Mark T Infinity but I fear the last remaining drops won't sustain me and I will die ELAless Where art thou o gleaming wand of stainless? One day, thou shalt be mine.....one day...

Got my wife a 1920's -1930's filigree platinum wedding ring with a mine cut diamond. That and her very modest wedding ring was all she wanted ...... Your not weird you just have good taste

LOL, girls........... I guess im on the unconventional side, I told my man , dont go out and get me a ring, unless he really knows me. To which he said, not that I was going to, but what do you mean?

I told him that I was not into the typical diamonds and things, I like unique antiques. I actually love whats called mine diamonds or rough ones, that are handcut and uneven. Im weird. I also prefer good stainless steel or teflon as opposed to gold. Titanium is also nice.

Wow - to think I ordered an Ithaka to go with this - thinking they would be here about the same time or so.
I know that David is very exacting in standards - but - damn - this is slow. No other word for it. 10 - 15 orders a week - and what percentage of those is ELA? Yes - I am getting very close to being "my time" for shipping - and that's all good - but pretty much feel sorry for the folks after me.
Once you have someones MONEY - they should be PRIORITY. I am...not seeing that - at all. I see basically a token effort. They are prepaid - and for a lot of folks - it is not an insignificant amount of money. Guess I would just run things differently is all. Opinion - that is all that this is - so - can't be right or wrong.
Of course - as soon as I get my ELA - I will stop .....ing.....maybe. Send it to me - and find out?

Ithaca rocks...I received mine yesterday, set it up bishop heals style, and I loooove it. A million time better than kayfun (IMHO) and looks great to...only down side (if you can call it that) is the resistance non resistance thing...but with the premade wires it's not a problem and actually is easier...again, this is just my opinion

I have 2 Kayfuns, and the Ithaka - both Kayfuns blow clouds without adjustment - the Ithaka is terrific, but you have to play with it.

Those 10-15 orders a week are just the ELAs, there are countless other items going out in between. Thing is, that the parts are done, but David puts each one together and then makes sure all the parts are perfectly constructed and fit perfectly. If a piece is not right, then he gets another part etc. He makes sure its more than just functioning. SOmetimes it takes an hour to assemble your ELA, sometimes more.

He also takes the time to do other needed things im sure and to answer all orders etc. Im not making excuses, it is a long time to wait, but when you get it and its not full of burrs or misshapen or rough, you will appreciate the time he takes.

I recently waited a long time to get some parts from over seas, waited a long time and when it got to me it was in really bad condtion, it looked as if it was a used and returned item. It was even dented on the 510 connection and it would not assemble properly with its other parts.

No problem, things slip though the cracks, but then after waiting another 10 days for the replacement part, I get it and it too was bad, actually even worse. The vendor gets these parts from the manufacturer and I guess they didnt QC them very well. This is a brand that prides itself on being the best of the best of the best, but......... And they are not cheap either. I now have 2 bad parts and who knows if they even have another piece in stock or if I will have to wait till next preorders.

So to make a long story short, at least there is one person that makes sure things like this dont happen, plus its here in the US and you dont have to deal with overseas shipping and customs etc, or when they can find the time to manufacture the piece again.

This story of woe, doesnt make the wait any easier, Im sure. but It really sucks and I can bet you a buck , this type of story wont happen to you. I dont know for sure, but I dont think anyone that has gotten their ELA has had a "lemon" yet? If they have they arent telling.

Lemon? From here? Nope. Just...damn...slow. Even if the 10 - 15 a week are just ELA's - that's REALLY slow considering they are already paid for. It was a bit quicker before - but has slowed down recently. No worries - it will be more than worth it in the end - I've seen the reviews....

Dishwashwers can tarnish stainless steel. I'd also be leery of running any of the rhodium plated bits through one.

David is completing these units and sending them out in the order they were received, every ELA is prioritized that way. I don't see how you can assume that this is done in some sort of haphazard way. To imply a lack of seriousness in doing so on David's part is misleading and not true.
