Just my opinion here, it would still be worth it. I have looked at a ton of telescoping mods and they don't compare.

Peoples huge rage right now is over the polidac (not sure about the spelling), with silver pins. I keep thinking in my head how fast silver tarnishes. They all talk about the hit and how great it is. Don't get me wrong the mod looks awesome. You could pick one up for about 160 euros (about 218 usd) before shipping while they were on sale. I personally do not own a silver tea set, but my mother did. I would polish that tea set and make it look oh so pretty, within a week it was already starting to look grey (oxidized) again.

Of course that is just one reason to go for the ELA, the main reason for me at least. :)
Oh, I'm sure it will be. Just caught me off guard. lol It's only 15 bucks.

Does media blasting produce a different finish from the satin finish? I ask because the media blasted inner tube looks like it would fit the finish of my atty pretty closely. If that's the case, it'd be cool if the whole device'd be like that as well.

Media Blasting is what we do to get the Satin finish. Please note, that is media blasted aluminum though, which shines more then media blasted stainless steel. For media blasted/satin finish, just check out the PrecisePlus page.

Hi Dave

Do you have a pic with the extension tube that will allow running the 18650 + the kick? or is it the same as the 18500 + kick but just a little longer?

Wiz

Correct, the 18650+Kick optional tube is just longer (the length of a Kick longer)

Did I miss it, did Forced, let us know which of the finish samples I posted match closest to the satin and the polished?

He didn't directly, but indirectly he implied that both alpha and beta would closely resemble the satin finish, and gamma the polished one.

thanks for that.

Just thought of something...

so, you have the "optional" tube that runs the 18650+Kick and all of sudden the kick goes bunkers on you and you can no longer run it. Will the 18650 make contact without the kick with the "optional" tube in place or do you have to replace the "optional" tube with the "original" one?

IF the "optional" tube has to be replaced with the "original" tube in order to make contact, for those that ordered the "optional" tube, will they be getting the "original" tube as well as the "optional" one to cover this kind of scenario?

Gawd I hope this makes sense to you

thanks in advance

Lemme use my amazing deductive skills here. If the longer tube is "optional", then that name would imply that there is another tube that isn't optional. Meaning that it is non-optional is the same as saying it's necessary. If it's necessary, then it can't be that you have the option of choosing either it or the "optional" one, since then it wouldn't be necessary for you to choose the default tube. In simpler terms: Of course you get the original tube regardless of whether you've decided on the "optional" tube. It's included in the price

Absolutely correct on Silver. In no way should silver be used in a mechanical mod. Four reasons:

1. It is a very high rate of tarnish/oxidization/corrosion even faster then raw brass (which unplated brass should never be used either as it exhibits many of the same pitfalls as silver). Any gains seen with its high conductivity are immediately lost as it immediately starts oxidizing/tarnishing after a cleaning.

2. Silver is extremely soft at approximately 250-300 knoop hardness rating (Rhodium has an 800 knoop hardness rating). Even with a thicker plating (which is relative when plating metals, they are ALL extremely thin, often .0001 or less thick). Silver will wear through to bare metal in a much shorter time and even quicker as you constantly have to clean it to keep the contacts corrosion free.

3. Low Melting point and extremely susceptible to electrical arcing due to its low melting point (electrical arcing is a big factor in DC circuits as electrical arcing causes pitting and oxidizations (usually seen as little black specs in the plating) and degrades the electrical connection

4. Susecptible to many cleaning chemicals and readily dissolves in acids.

SilverRhodium
Hardness Rating300800
Oxidization/Corrosion/Tarnish RateExtremely HighNon existent. Will never corrode/oxidize/tarnish
Melting Point1763F3567F
Electrical Arcing SusceptibilityHighExtremly Low (electrical arcs can reach momentary temps of 10,000+F)
Chemical/Acid ResistanceLowImpervious to almost all known chemicals and acids (its why they couldn't save my rhodium parts after poor plating, theres no way to strip it)
Cost Per ounce: Silver $35.00 per ounce. Rhodium $1400.00 per Ounce

Makes perfect sense. Yes, even with the longer Kick tube, you can pull the Kick out and collapse it down the 18650 battery and make contact, no problem.

All ELA's come with the standard length tube. The optional tube is a seperately purchased tube.

I am very frugal, and I try to spend my money very wisely. I own 2 mods both of which are american made, the ELA will be my third. I have been vaping since late 2010. David, me personally I am very excited about the ELA, and I believe you have a true all around winner here. I for one can not wait to show it off to all my friends. All I have to say is I hope you are wearing comfortable shoes, cause once the word gets out, you are going to be one busy man. :)

I'm pretty much the same way. I've had a lot of mods but have sold them all. Right now I'm down to a Reo Grand and Provari. This should give me the perfect trio.
