My very first mech mod was a Puresmoker Legacy. Now, I am anxiously awaiting my ELA.
As a retired mechanical engineer, I can fully appreciated the work and the effort, which David has and is putting into the ELA. The basis of design was simple. However, the execution of the design and build is stellar. That is what caught my attention.
To compare the ELA to a cheaply made off shore telescoping mech would be insane, if I understand some of the comments, yes?

Allright allready....You win Nach....the sub ohm 0.8 coil hits like smoking a real cigarette...very warm dense vapor that makes me dizzy!! I need to buy something other then the 30mg I use...Its almost to strong!

Since moving to mechs full time, I have become sensitive to PWM. I can literally feel the 33MHz pulses now on regulated mods. However, the DNA20D, still provides a rather smooth vape.
For now I have moved the 0.8 ohm HH to my Shockwave... Im still playing with it...Yes it does give a thicker vape than a 1.5 ohm HH and Im sure as the battery discharges the 0.8 ohm will perform outstanding... It does get hot though, after 4-5 hits in a row its almost to hot to touch... I dont wnat to take it out of the house yet on my ELA since Im not sure how quick it will drain a 18490 battery... Im so over dosed with nicotine since I keep comparing the different atty resistances....
I still think that a 3.0 ohm coil gives a smoother vape when kicked than a 1.5/0.8 run @ 3.7 volts
For some reason I can tell you're woozy.
I'm very satisfied with 1.5 and intend to keep it that way for a bunch of reasons.
You know, I can feel the difference too. I thought I was imagining things.
Nach I can't pick up a PWM device either.My DNA 12 and 20 have spoiled me .The pulses and firing after you've released the fire button get on my nerves lol.

I have been using ss rope, and it does darken the juice quite a bit. It does not seem to change the flavor though. I just started using it, and I am not sure if I like it or not. It does wick well, but I never had any problem with mesh. Its a little easier to set up, but you only have to make a new wick once in a blue moon. I am just one of those people that has to try anything new.
Juice gets dark from boiling in the wick and then flows back down into the tank. Can be caused by overwicking at higher temps, chain vaping also can cause this.
Fair enough, I guess it's only coincidence that PVs in 2013 work similar to flashlights in 1970 or earlier (didnt bother to research the time line), and as far as mechanical advancement, yes the advancement has come over time due to using the contacts that make the most sense (silver-copper-brass-gold etc) and ergonomic/ user friendly features. It isn't rocket science, just basic science and quite frankly in my opinion could and should have come to market faster. Will we dig up a material better suited for conductivity? I doubt it. Will a lab produce a material one day? Maybe. What else is there to do? Progressive design simplifies and or answers previous down falls. So, untill you can make a battery jump into my PV for me, or make a PV squeeze out more juice beyond its own capabilities, or even make my morning coffee for me, it's a safe bet we have seen the progression come to a crawl. If this industry wasnt pioneered by hobbyists vs. big corporation it wouldn't have taken so long for these features to have arrived sooner. Disagree if you'd like, but this is my opinion.
Yeah, I've used the adjustable cap. It works well, but is a very tight fit (both on the top cap and around the atty) even when the o-rings are lubed well. I may try some thinner o-rings at some point, but for now I've been using RBAs so have the regular top cap on and that experiment will have to wait
I didn't need a wrench to get my top cap apart, but it was on there pretty tight. I think it's an 11/16" wrench that fits those flats IIRC

Mines super tight....I will try it later, as of now there is no need for it with a HH 510 atty-the draw is perfect with the regular cap... I just tried my Crown for the first time...Works great, but you do need to put the ELA close to your ear to hear the beeps as the wall thickness muffles the sound...
I popped the coil on a 2 week old HH357 1.5 ohm atty while trying to adjust it....Damm I couldnt hear it and kept holing the button down...Grrrrrrrrr
Back to the atty reveiws.... The 0.8 ohm coil works well @ 3.7 volts, but for me its to hot(harsh) of a vape....A 1.5 ohm coil at 3.7 volts is a good vape, I know as the battery voltage drops the vape gets abit weak .... I like to vape at 10-11 watts...
For all you sub ohm coil builders they are to hot(harsh) of a vape IMO when compared to the smooth warm dense vape that a 3.0 ohm coil offers when Kicked/Crowned set at 10 watts.... You can try to argue the point that watts is watts but the proof is in the pudding-the vape!
A 0.8 ohm coil draws twice the amps vs a 3.0 ohm coil....High amps drain your battery much faster....Also every HR coil Ive owned has outlasted LR versions.....
P.S. Im sure with a lower nicotine level then I use(30mg) the sub ohm coil would be better... But not for me as a 3.0 ohm is perfect when kicked @10 watts....

Riverboat your exactly right. I've done quite a bit of testing with every gauge, flat , twisted, etc. I still really enjoy a 3.0 coil. Juice consumption is minimal and battery life is loooooong. I still enjoy my 0.7 wrapped Era clone though not to hot not to cool and flavor for days.
