Prevent the FDA from regulating or banning the sale and use of electronic cigarettes, accessories and associated liquids

The FDA has repeatedly stated its intent to propose a “deeming” regulation to apply Chapter IX of the FSPTCA to e-cigarettes. But Sections 905 and 910 would ban all e-cigarettes, and other provisions of Chapter IX would also decimate the e-cigarette industry, protect cigarette markets and otherwise threaten public health. The FDA should NOT propose or approve any regulation that would deny cigarette smokers legal or affordable access to less hazardous smokefree alternatives. ~ Bill Godshall
E-cigarettes and associated accessories and liquids are less hazardous than cigarettes and can reduce the risks of smoking. With the use of these devices millions have successfully reduced the use of cigarettes. Don't let the FDA deny us access to these alternatives to smoking.

Just noticed on the whitehouse.gov page that they've increased the signature threshold to 100,000 as of January 15th.

I believe this petition falls under the previous 25k limit needed, but in the future 4x that will be needed.

True and it looks like we'll get that 25K...I'm thinking we'll get it sometime in the next few days. I just got an email from a vendor to please sign it so vendors are getting on board with this too!! That's the good news. Now, after 25K is reached, we still don't need to lose our momentum. We need to get AS MANY SIGNATURES as possible! We need to leave a mark with the White House that we are a huge group and one that they will have to contend with if they let the FDA go afoul.

Gee, it seems like every time the e-cig community submits a petition, they up the ante! When the first one was submitted, you only needed 5,000 signatures and before we were even done collecting that 5K, they upped the requirement five-fold (but we were grandfathered in at the 5K requirement.) They probably thought we'd never be able to hit the new target of 25K. Now, they've done it again! And again, they do this shortly after we start collecting signatures, but do the right thing and grandfather us in at the 25K target.

I truly believe that if the community gets rolling (and vendors are starting to send the message out about the petition), even if we only have to have 25K, before the deadline we could have 100K!!

At the moment, that's the only type of regulation being proposed.
