Question about using magnets for the button instead of spring -- would the nemesis sized magnets work?

Magnets sit in a recess that is ~9.8mm wide, so I would say no. I think neme magnets are much bigger.

I dont have any Mechanicals in Alumide, but it typically looks like this:

Thanks, that looks pretty cool would the glittery aspect show more in black.?

Bingo! Hadn't thought of using RIt. Just hope the boiling temp doesn't deform the parts too much.
From sculpteo " if the plastic is subjected to heat above 120°C (248°F), it is possible that the physical form of the object can significantly altered."

Boiling point of water is 212 so should have good cushion.

Nice. I had seemed to recall 180F as the danger point for folks doing Cerakote baking on Shapeways prints, but that wouldn't be corollary to a safe submersed surrounding temp even if my failing memory is correct.
