One of my close friends has been looking to adopt a husky for a while. He and his wife just got settled into a new house. I've had to spend time making sure he knows all the ins and outs of huskies before making his final decision.

AND make sure the backyard has locks on all the gates, if they see an open one, OUT they go, for sure! to run about the neighborhood and greet everyone they see with a big slobber! lol They do love to run and run and run! best to chase with a car! haha

That's why I mentioned escaping everything. I've even heard multiple times about them getting over a 6ft privacy fence. He lives in a very rural area, though, and mostly it is his extended family that lives on a quiet street that has no traffic so that part isn't a huge worry at least.

I've done 2 widely-separated things for rescues... about 15 yrs ago some ADORABLE german shepherd pups found their way to my door, whining and crying and clearly starving... which made me cry, so furious that someone would just abandon such gorgeous little creatures, so I gave the 3 of them a giant can of Dinty Moore beef stew and called Animal Control. As cute as those pups were, VERY CLEARLY shepherds, I'm quite sure they were all adopted ASAP.

Then, in the summer of 2011, we kept hearing this very faint, almost inaudible mewing... went hunting around the carport, and discovered a tiny, bedraggled, and absolutely emaciated tuxedo kitten, so weak with hunger it could barely make a sound. Our son melted immediately and tossed out some ham scraps, to which I responded, "oh great, now it'll never leave!" :D And I was right, it never did. Faced with my son's begging, pleading, puppydog eyes... I gave in, to keeping the kitten, which of course I immediately named "Tux" -- my husband discovered right away that the kitten was actually female, so she became "Tuxie"... and has become a 4 yr old and VERY well-fed part of our family (thank you, Zyrtec!). The next spring of course we had to deal with all the yowling as she went into her first heat, had to keep her inside which she HATED, and found a local place called "Planned Pethood" which spayed her and gave her 3 or 4 immunizations, all for about $30.

Every dog I have now, or we have had in the last two decades had either been a stray we ley stay, or a rescue adoption (in the case of my mother's Chihuahua). My German Shepard girl moved in (and had pups, which we sent to a Shepard rescue for rehoming) just over two years ago, and she is one of the best dogs ever. She is an all black with tan tips, old school body, not like the too skinny and lanky king shepards that seem to be all the rage these days. She is about as loyal to me as they come.

I feel your pain. I have a lot of local friends who are smokers. Only one who vapes. I've been trying for a while to get them to make the switch, gave them all kinds of info, offered all the help I could, gave them all my old gear and a bunch of juice. Sadly, they're just not ready for it, and I think you really have to be ready to make the change for vaping to work for you along with finding the right setup. Even after over a year of vaping, it can be hard for me to be around them sometimes. I just cling to my vape and jump on this forum on my phone when I need it. :)

During a high stress time, a month or two after I started vaping, I had a cigarette or two. After I realized that I wasn't getting anything more out of the cigs than I did out of the vape, except for ruining my health more, it was easy to not want any more cigarettes.

For me, it's not difficult to be around smokers, because my vape tastes better, and it gives me as much satisfaction as cigarettes gave me. (More, actually, because I feel healthier). Once I realized that vaping gave me as much satisfaction, it was easy. It was only when I felt like I must be missing something in the cigarettes that it was difficult.

We had sold the last litter of pups and a year later got a call that if we'd like, we could have one back, they had a baby coming and were moving, etc. etc. etc. so, within the first week we had this almost grown up red/white husky back, we came home for dinner to find this.... The husky had absolutely demolished a chair/bag full of foam & pellets out on the deck - the inerds were from one side of our lot to the other... here's a photo (grin) of a typical bored, needing some training, and guilty dog..... The neighborhood kids had just been enjoying that same 'chair' the day before! argh.... haha I hope you can just click on the pictures to see them bigger, trying something new this time... Keesha was the mother dog, Tasha her daughter was the culprit shown here.

Mercer Island is beautiful! I used to live in Burien with ex-hubby, and had an awesome view of Mt. Rainier from my living room! Then, he decided to go to law school in KS, so we left beautiful WA state to move to the dreariest state with no mountains and no water! LOL...best part of living in KS was meeting current hubby after a very educated ex decided he no longer needed a wife or child. Lol...all for the best in the long run!
Wow there are more of us Washingtonians on here than I realized! So cool. :) Redrebel, that is an awful thing for your ex to do! I am so glad it worked out in your favor!! :)

Having grown up on Mercer Island (another Washingtonian would know where that is), I'm beginning to think the webs between your toes, living up there, have grown and somehow affected your brain a bit, now too??? tho the sentiment was awesomely and eloquently shared! (just me making fun of ya! knowing how when it's raining, you've got to find 'something' to help you endure the cabin fever you're beginning to feel....)
I love Mercer Island. I had a friend who lived there back in the day. Such a beautiful place. :) The cabin fever is not so bad these past couple of years. We have actually been having great weather, and I live on the coast!! :)

That sounds like my thought processes after my stepfather's heart attack, when we were staying with my mom, who could stress out Lucifer in 5 minutes flat -- "do I want a cigarette?' Hmmm... no, why would I? I'm vaping strawberry & cream with WTA in it, so the only thing a cigarette would give me that I don't already have is a nasty taste in my mouth and stink on my hands... think I'll pass. :D

yep I live just between Redmond/Fall city, used to go downtown via 90 every day for a bit...yes to web toes, yes to cabin fever, I wont self diagnose bein a lil crazy, well if all 4 anti vaping bills pass into law, well then I will move away so I can continue to vape...if I must
I am freaking OUT about those stupid bills!!! Mount Baker Vapor just announced they are relocating to Mesa, AZ because of those stupid bills. I can say I am not a fan of Inslee even a little bit right now. grrrrrr.
